I've been trying to use CWO. It's still buggy. The first time I tried it, Stormcloak side, I didn't start until after I'd killed Alduin, meaning I'd completed Season Unending in the process. I allowed Elenwen to stay for the conference, which enabled me to give the Stormcloaks a second hold to make up for it. Shortly after I killed Alduin, I signed up with the Stormcloaks.Everything went fine until after the Battle of Whiterun, when the civil war began in earnest. WIth all those levels and, perhaps more importantly, Daedric artifacts, I had no difficulty surviving through the battle. Everything was going fine. Then Galmar was "in the middle of something" until the end of time. I tried talking to Ulfric again, which added a SECOND hold capture quest, this one for Solitude, itself. But Galmar is in the middle of something, no matter where he is.I had a LOT of mods installed, so I gave up on this, did a clean reinstall, adding only the unofficial patches, Run for you Lives and When Vampires Attack (not sure why I did that), a water mod (again, failed impulse control), and Apollodown's CWO.This time, I went straight into the Civil War after defeating that initial dragon for Whiterun. I fell several times during the defense of Whiterun (those Stormcloak Mages are TOUGH), having to reload each time because the game wouldn't progress. Finally, I died in a different spot (managed to survive longer) and this time, I made it to an Imperial camp. Whiterun held anyway, and we moved on to attempt Dawnstar. (Interestingly enough, the Imperials appear to have a Dragon at their command, which is currently patrolling the skies over Whiterun. I've seen it swoop down to kill vampires.)The mission to mess with Stormcloak messages went off without a hitch. My stolen Stormcloak uniform worked like a charm. Then I went to attack Dawnstar, which also went off without a hitch... which is to say, I didn't need to reload or use console commands or anything. I survived for a while, until the only people left were me and two stormcloaks (Lydia was MIA). I was out of healing potions, and fell again. Dawnstar held.I'm currently running Companions quests (just started) while I await a courier with new orders. It remains to be seen if those orders ever come, and to be quite frank these test runs are tedious. I'm not one who enjoys messing with his install all the time; I just want the damned thing to WORK, so I can just forget it and enjoy the game. It's almost enough for me to just install STEP core and put it out of my mind... but CWO is so awesome it demands a test run. That said, I cannot recommend it as part of a general install. If Beth were reading this, I would say that I would pay money for one last expansion pack that implements the stuff from the cutting room floor that had to be cut for time. Apollodown's work shows what could have been, in a universe with infinite money and infinite time.
