But why? (serious question) Even if I won't be optimizing the textures? I remember back in the day when MO still had the char limit on BSAs the norm was to extract everything other than the officials and STEP Optimized vanilla textures. But whats the point now? Only to be able to hide some files in the otherwise packaged mod?

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/74638/? Cities overhaul. still in its infancy but the author seems invested in developing it and making it compatible with a lot of stuff. adds new locations as well but will have modular installation once it's more mature. Maybe in the future it will be a good alternative to use in REGS if/when Tech revives it like promised

Going back to the .modgroups idea one last time. Sorry (not really)! Is it safe to assume that after a complete STEP (and only STEP) install I can create a simple .modgroups including all the content of plugins.txt from the profile folder up until the STEP patch.esp and whatever conflicts the STEP patch doesn't address directly it does so because it won't affect the game right?
-
mmmmkay. I suspected this was the reason but I didn't see anything regarding this on the changelog. Thanks Tech!

Why is this gone from 2.2.9.2? What did I miss?

English is not my mother tongue so I'm not sure if you're being being sarcastic or not, kek. I agree that for most it's gonna be useless clutter, but for those who'll use it's a nice endearment :D

Discussion topic: Go On Ahead by NorthHare Wiki Link Adds an option to send followers ahead to the town you're going to and wait for you in the tavern, so you can pick flowers and catch butterflies along the way without them judging you. I'm down for it. Whatchuthink?

I know what you mean. The automatic merge can be pretty dumb sometimes. and manual patch is too much hassle to put in the main guide, plus it's already covered in the xEdit guide. In this case the .modgroups would still be a good thing in my opinion and could be silently slipped along with the STEP patches. The user would be left with only post-STEP mod conflicts showing in red. Anyway, sorry about the rambling and if this should be posted elsewhere instead of here.
-
Absolutely. But I meant for general conflicts other than leveled lists. A paragraph or two on the troubleshooting section. Just explaining basic automatic merged plugin creation and deleting the leveled lists prior to bashed patch. or even just linking to the TES5edit section of the wiki.
-
Has it been suggested already to mention TES5edit merged patches in the main STEP page? maybe for people who won't be using the STEP patches or people who intend to install additional mods after STEP. Maybe even provide official .modgroups for the STEP patches.

Great. Thanks.

I know it was under 'examples' but it spooked me a bit anyway Sorry.

Sorry if this isn't the place. I got somewhat confused by what I read in this thread and in the 'versioning' article. Specifically the '3.0 when Wrye Bash gets official support'. Does that mean you'll be dropping Mod Organizer in favor of Wrye Bash?

new info: i did the exact same thing again and it loaded. then I went ahead to the next mod (trees hd) and it failed the same manner as the ones before, so the problem probably not related to those specific mods. what then? faulty gpu vram maybe?

nope, nope and nope tried with both terrain bump packages. mempatch, enboost and inis strictly as instructed by the guide. nothing else changed. tried both fullscreen and windowed. also checked the integrity of every single downloaded mod on the step list, one by one. all downloads are integer. any other sugestion? is there any kind of logging during load to help debug it?

I too find it implausible but the issue is there exactly as I described it. I'm not saying its step or MO's fault. I havent installed the memory patch yet but I didnt consider memory problems because if i just skip that mod and install the next 10 or so I got no problems whatsoever. Loading time ever around ~30s. I'm no expert modder but I dont think I did anything wrong compared to what the guide says. Gonna try vanilla INIs and memory patch. As per the corrupted download I dont think its valid since I re-downloaded the mod and tested both downloads with winrar and got no errors. Both failed to load and the non performance version of the mod worked. If it is worth noting, my rig is a mildly overclocked fx-6100 on a sabertooth 990fx, 8gb corsair ram and 2 6870 but currently running only one. raid hdd, no ssd.

the only difference being the hqlods performance pack. with it it doesnt loads. disabling it it loads as long as I re-boss (maybe bossing resets MO or something) my ini are default ones with only the changes suggested in step made so far
-
the max i left it was half an hour. with the mods in the same order as shown in step up to hqlods it starts a new game in about 30 secs
-
so... should i try and post it in another section?

nobody????

I'm reinstalling skyrim and STEP from the start using MO. Installing one mod at a time and bossing and starting a game to see if it loads. When I got to HQ LODs using the performance pack it would get infinite loading screens. Disabling the mod still would get to ILS. re-bossing it resolves the issue (WTF? its only textures) So i switched to the normal hqlods and it worked. Then, when i got to Terrain Bumps, same thing. ILS. Disabling and re-bossing didnt work because it also screwed up the HQ LODs that was working. Disabling both, bossing and activating HQLODs would load the game. But I couldnt make terrain bumps work with neither res patches. So I come to you because I have no idea what is going wrong here. Dont know if someone else is having the problem since I didnt find it on the forum. Could it be the ini files? MO's fault?
