  1. Discussion thread: Lore-Based Loading Screens by Chesko Wiki Link This fits right in with STEP:Mod = Lore-Based Loading Screens by Chesko Description says it best "Adds 160+ new loading screens steeped in Tamrielic lore. Become deeper immersed in the Elder Scrolls mythos with tons of quotes from in-game books (from Skyrim and past Elder Scrolls titles), history, mythology, and little-known facts about the world of Tamriel." Loading screens needed a good addition, and here it is.
  2. Yep, can definitely confirm that z-fighting gets worse and better every time you look at it xDIt's really hard to stay concentrated enough to notice a difference! from the master z-fighter!! keep fighting those zzzzzz's!!!!
  3. I am really enjoying my experience with this mod. I have tried just about every weather/lighting mod there is and this one fits right in with the best of them. It is good as-is now, and once the interiors get finished up no doubt STEP worthy mod IMO....
  4. Link https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/19826 A well made mod that does what it says, retex the NPC clothing similar to a current STEP Mod (2x Clothing Remix).. The author says in description: "tried to make my designs as lore-friendly as possible" - which is great for the STEP community and I think did a good job achieving this. Personally, I prefer Elaborate Textiles but its a matter of opinion I guess. The author has said in comments more updates will be coming with more alternates to choose from which is always nice.... What do ya'll think?
  5. Well I tried this mod out expecting major lag/stutter, but the performance hit wasn't as major as I thought it was going to be. Was using Skyrim Distant Detail, and switching to SDO the performance hit was minimal with improved LOD. One thing I did notice when installing, it asks to overwrite a file from WATER (tamriel objects.dds).....In my opinion don't overwrite the WATER file with the basic SDO file (not sure how the optional waterfall LOD is in comparison havent tried it. @Mad (or anyone who knows) I noticed you said SDO can be synergistic with other mods such as High Quality LODs, Enhanced Distant Trees, Enhanced Distant Terrain... How come Enhanced Distant Trees isn't in STEP? Is it not recommended to overwrite Vurts files with EDT?
  6. thnx for info frihyland, I might not be so hesitant to use Steam mods now that I know what is going where. About to go get this mod now.
  7. DDSopt it is, think this might be the solution I was looking for. Tried just about every INI tweak I could find out there with no fix. Thanks again - didn't think I needed to DDSopt cuz game is running stable and smooth, just trying to get rid of that tree detail 'popping' and bonus, it looks like it tidies everything up for efficiancy.
  8. Thanks for the replies. I think you helped me figure out my problem, and that is my rig needs an upgrade. Current specs: AMD Phenom II X4 945 Processor 3.0GHz ATI Radeon HD 5770 CrossfireX 4.00 GB RAM overall, game runs really good & smooth using STEP just that darn tree 'popping' bothers me. Sounds like SSD & RAM upgrade you mentioned "give trees full-LOD-status", to make sure did it correct is that changing the 'fTreesMidLODSwitchDist' in SkyrimPrefsINI? I already upped it to 25000.00 - should I up it more or is it a different setting to 'give trees full LOD status'? THanks again for replying, you already pointed me in right direction in what i need to do to improve my Skyrim - SSD!
  9. It's kinda hard to explain (I think) and searched all over (with no success) for how to make the tree's from 'popping'...Sprinting across Skyrim, the tree detail (meshes/textures/LOD - not really sure what to call it) suddendly 'pop's and changes detail and causes brief lag/stutter.. If anyone knows a fix (I belive it would be INI) please share. I followed STEP, searched for fix but this lil bug is a big problem for me. Thanks in advance for anyone who can offer some advice. QuickEdit- more specifically, what I am having problems with is I can see the trees when sprinting across the land, but all of a sudden the detail/texture 'pops' and changes causing lag/stuttering. Is there a fix or unavoidable Skyrim problem?
  10. this thread is one of many reasons i come here more often than nexus or steam forums, ya'll know what your talkin about and how to do things right. Thanks for sharing your big brains with those with smaller brains :D
  11. i'm ready to nerd out :) knowledge is power!
  12. Adds immersion, lore-friendly, multiple options for user to pick from......Great Mod IMO I have been using the "all in one" pack since first day released and it definitely improves gameplay experience. About to go check out the different RCRN presets in-game now and see how they look
  13. I agree with you skwareballz. With slof putting so much out there you cant help to notice and compare to what we currently got (I use bellyaches pack like you). So far Slofs horses/unique shadowmere/and the snow leopard sabrecat stand out, but to this date still prefer Bellyaches as a whole and its really convenient with an all-in-one pack and customizable download. The only downside is that Bellyaches mod wont be updated any further... Just curious what is going to be in the next STEP update, possibly a mix of Bellyaches & Slof's?
  14. yeah I liked it too, as it does actually make it look like water (something vanilla or any other mod hasn't been able to accomplish)... No noticable performance loss or glitches that I have come across yet. A small, but good fix & improvement.
  15. I like the idea, but felt the neon-like glow made them stand out too much IMO. The author said that a non-glowing version is in the works so will wait and see if that fits in better with Skyrim for me.
  16. Small, effective mod that makes the forges water-troughs have actual water in them. It works as advertised in places I have checked (haven't been to every single one yet) https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/18818
