My methodology is thus: 1) Install main file 2) Install UPDATES and merge. 3) Install each OPTIONAL/MISC as its own mod to overwrite/extend the base mod.

Have a look at your Stunning Statues of Skyrim install, particularly where in SRLE you're asked to copy and rename some things into different folders so that No Snow Under The Roof can pick them up.
