STEP Optimized Vanilla Textures - Standard Version

Question

Posted

Hi!

I was following STEP:Core installation when i reached the Step Optimized Vanilla Textures mod, where seeing as the baseline recommends the Standard version, i noticed that in the Nexus website there was only the Performance version available. Just wanted to know if Standard Version is not available anymore or is the problem with Nexus website itself, where uploading Gb-s worth of mod doesnt come through?

Thanks in advance

Yeah, the performance textures are fine, just a little less quality and a little more performance.

PapyrusUtil doesn't matter where it is for priority order (left pane), as long as it is after SKSE.

thanks and cheers guys!

Quick Edit: Oh btw we dont need to download the main files, just the optional one right?! (first time following the step core guide)

@ TA or Z or whoever is uploading :

Have you considered a backup site for files ?, if not and there are any thoughts along that line I would recommend :

 The Assimilation Lab

Files can be up to 6gb, and in my experience with large files ( uploading all the files for 25 versions of Vanilla Reduced Textures to Nexus ), its a lot easier uploading there. I have ony uploaded the last couple of versions of VRT to TheAssimilationLab, but both occasions have been a breath of fresh air, just one upload attempt was successful on both occasions ( as opposed to nexus usual with large files, wait for most of a day for an upload to fail in the last few percent, depending on random amounts of traffic and sudden site drop-outs ).

And of course you are not limited to one site being functional for the purposes of people downloading.

Bit of a pain doing things twice, but worth it imho.

does this make the same changes as, "Bethesda Hi-Res DLC Optimized"? I guess replacing that one with STEPs version is better? (I'm deleting many mods and noticed this in my folder, unsure)

maybe i missed something i read the nexus page and have been following the core install guide but i dont know if i need to do something in regards to highrestexturepacks/unofficial high res patch/step vanilla optimized textures standard ie load order or other stuff just says to install and check step vanilla optimized textures standard in archive tab did i miss something?

You should use LOOT to sort the load order in the right pane.

The note on STEP Optimized Vanilla Textures means you should click the Archives in the right pane (it's just above the grid) and ensure STEP DLC Optimized Textures - Standard.bsa is checked. While you're at it ensure all of the BSA files in the Archives tab are checked and that "Have MO manage archives" at the top is also checked.

Yes i used loot to load order it i moved the STEP Optimized Vanilla Textures below the high res textures patch thought it looked better then leaving below the default install spot at the bottom of the list below PapyrusUtil - Modders Scripting Utility Functions and loot didn't correct me so i guess that was fine but i didn't know if the step order was different. I downloaded/installed/and clicked the box in the left pane to complete the install when i clicked the archives tab in the right pane both STEP Optimized Vanilla Textures boxes were already checked in fact every box in archives for everything installed so far based on the step core guide was checked already.

Yes, you're right. I have mine at the top just below the Unofficial High Resolution Patch as well. This allows all the other mods in the guide to override the vanilla assets.
