Besidilo Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 DESCRIPTION============Reading books now increase speech skill. Almost every book in the game is able to increase Speech skill progression towards next level twice. Reading book first time will increase Speech skill depending on players Speech skill level and represent greater increment. This increment will fall off in percentage as Speech level is close to 100 (but not too drastically) so player would need to read more books as skill level makes progress. Second reading will increase Speech skill progression for a small amount. At first, this second reading will have nice impact in comparison to the first reading on lower Speech levels, while later it will be barely noticeable on Speech level above 90. Third and every next reading of the book gives player nothing as nothing new to learn from the particular book.Could be a good incentive for players to start reading the books and learning about the lore, but may not suite every character. https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/21765
rootsrat Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 I found this mod recently and it seems like a great STEP addition. Author's reasoning for this mod is perfectly logical. It striked me only after I read it. This really should be vanilla feature... Having speech skill ingame should be affected by the player if he read books i.e. person who reads more have better vocabulary and knowledge base for conversation. The only true leveling of speech is trough sales as there is not enough Persuade/Bribe options in game. Besides it is obvious that more literate people have better speech skills. AFFECTED BOOKS===============All books that have no skill increase (or script) mady by Bethesda and one of the following conditions:Book is history lessonBook is a storyBook is a poemBook is a taleAdded to this list some scientific research books Omitted books=============NotesTutorialsJournalsBlank booksBethesda skill bookSeems like a winner to me! I am including this in my playthrough and will test it. ::EDIT:: Conflicts: - Book Covers Skyrim (quite obviously) - does not carry over some changes from USKP - Couple of SkyRe entries ::EDIT2:: Although, reading comments on the mod's page: I love this mod. I've encountered what may be a bug, though. While it does properly remember whether you've read a book that you own, each time you find a new copy (since I tend to keep one copy of the books I find in bookshelves in my houses) but *do not* have a copy already in your inventory, it treats the new copy as a "fresh" one (as in, it gives you the three 'read' messages with accompanying skill gains). From what you've posted on the intended functionality, this seems to make it a bit overpowered/exploitative.This issue disqualifies the mod for me :/
Vond Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Sounds very interesting. Will have a look at it for sure! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2
