Question

Posted

So, I'm new to STEP, and I decided to follow your guide to make my Skyrim experience better. But, in doing so, I've discovered several links that are broken, and the mods they were pointing to no longer exist. So far, they are all from SparrowPrince, jumbled across several categories.

Is there any chance the guide can be updated to take this into account?

It's in progress. In place of the moved SparrowPrince mods, you install this: https://wiki.step-project.com/The_Ruffled_Feather_-_Mod_Collection

The few other mods that decided to disappear just ignore for now.

1. Skip EDT2 in the Conflicting section.

2. Install the "The Ruffled Feather - Enhanced Distant Terrain v1.0" file in place of EDT in the Landscape section and install it using the Quality World Map options in the installer.

3. Then install The Ruffled Feather main file and choose the STEP option. Place "The Ruffled Feather" in alphabetical order in the Landscape section.

4. Done.

@SlatzG

I've been told, not to long ago, that a STEP 2.2.9.1 will be released in the near future, which will mainly be the same guide with updated mods, guides and whatever new knowledge that has been collected.

@DoubleYou I did see that compiled mod. I was concerned whether it was STEP appropriate, and in which order should it be applied. I'm at the point where I should be installing Moss Rocks, and have paused at that point because there's no standalone mod to download.

I will get the new mod though. Thank you.

Thanks for this post I was also quite confused by this. I have another problem as well. I am ready to do the benchmark after loading the conflicting section but MO is telling me there is a potential load order problem. It wants me to move clothing and clutter fixes after weapons and armor fixes. Don't remember this being an issue on my last test. Should the warning be ignored or have I borked something along the way?

If you're following the STEP install order, you can ignore that warning.

The MO installation recommendations has been updated to show you how to do that.

Thank you for the reply. Yes I'm following the Step Extended guide. Are you saying that the Step guide to install MO shows how to make that warning go away? I'll have to take a look at that again must have missed it the first time.

Thank you so much. Just to confirm should I NOT install moss rocks and moss rocks dragonborn now? I see I have the moss rock.esp after installing the ruffled feather stuff. Also I have several other Q's and I'm not sure where to find the answers and not sure where to post. I have read SO much stuff the last couple days my brain's on overload. I'm trying to follow the guide implicitly but I'm pretty new to all this and I'm probably being overly cautious but considering how much time I have invested my thoughts are the only stupid question is the one never asked. Again thank you for the help.

Will do. I just have one more question and I'll stop bothering you. Up to this point in my install I have been merging plugins with the same name. I noticed the instructions said to install EDT then move the ruffled feather after, I'm assuming, the beauty of skyrim. Should I not have merged all those previous mods?
