I clicked the Installers tab in Wrye Bash and got this message while it was loading:

Yeah, I'v been getting something similar as well after installing STEP Extended Patch, pops up every time I go to build a Bash Patch, I'm currently just ignoring it... and hoping nothing will go wrong.

This looks more like it has to do with the installed files. The loot API seems to want the bash tag file which should be taglist.yaml. So although I am not sure what is causing the error and I have limited knowledge of Python, that is where I would be looking. I really recommend for most people to use 305 of Wrye Bash for Skyrim. I also recommend that you use the EXE installer so you don't miss installing any files. TES5Edit users have been experiencing odd issues with some virus programs, especially Kaspersky Antivirus. So for testing run things with your virus software disabled, and run programs as Admin.

Another user had an error with the bash tag map.

Py errors via WB are most often caused by lack of proper Windows registry entries for Skyrim (LOOT requires, and WB may or may not). Try launching Skyrim via the Steam launcher ... no necessary to "play game" ... just run the launcher directly from Steam (not SKSE or via MO) once and let it set reg entries and produce the INIs in the default location.

see if that resolves.

EDIT: Carnage's error above is different and discussed in adjacent forum.

I'm suddenly having issues with WB not running as well.  I've never had an issue with it before but today it suddenly started saying:

Error! Unable to start Wrye Bash.

Please ensure Wrye Bash is correctly installed.

File "bash\loot.pyo", line 344, in Load
WindowsError: [Error -529697949] Windows Error 0xE06D7363

I've reinstalled it, tried as admin, turned off the antivirus, reinstalled C++ 2010 ( the one in the Skyrim directory )...  I'm at a loss as to what it could be and why it just suddenly started acting this way.  I'm using 305.

If anyone has a suggestion I'd appreciate it.  Thanks.

After taking a break from Skyrim for a bit I am suddenly having this problem also. I have run Wrye Bash within MO many times without a problem in the past. MO version is 1.2.18, Wrye Bash version is 305. I tried re-installing Wrye Bash ... problem persists. I also ensured that the Wrye Bash executable could run as administrator.

Does anyone have an idea?

Try completely uninstalling and reinstalling.

I tried your suggestion but I get the same failure. The only thing I can think of is to reinstall Skyrim from scratch.

Reinstalling Skyrim didn't work for me.  I ended up having to drop down to 304 and haven't had a problem since.

Yes ... totally rebuilding the Skyrim install did not resolve the issue. However installing version 304 made the problem go away.

Thank for this solution...much appreciated.
