rootsrat Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/54826/? Self explanatory. Some details: The Blackreach Sun The vanilla design is actually quite nice.. however I found the model rather interresting to work with, and thought it would be nice with a more shiny version. So I did some new textures and some model work to create a look of a liquid core with some metal grid floating on top... as well as making it shine. The Blackreach Crystals Never liked em... most likely never will! Redid the model, and the textures and made a fancy looking crystal that can change color depending on the lighting. The other stuff I also altered the color of the bushes so they do not stand out as teal dots in the landscape... as well as make the tentacles from the ceiling less glowy.
phryxolydian Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 Ah, that sun's mesh is pretty nifty. I was going to say I'd like the sun's texture to have different shades of yellow/orange to look more like a sun cause it looks too much like a lamp but I just checked and the dds file does look like fire, why does it look completely yellow in the screenshots?
rootsrat Posted June 14, 2014 Author Posted June 14, 2014 Due to ENB and imagespaces I would presume? Not an expert though.
Aiyen Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 Well it is just a giant lamp really! :) But nah... the reason it is yellow is because I use the emit value of the model to cause it to shine... this color is rather intense and gets added to the underlaying inner layer texture.. causing it to be less defined. However depending on ENB or vanilla then you can get rather different looks. The main reason I have not made the texture darker is because since the sphere is static.. then I found the splotchy look was less appealing then the current one. If I somehow figure out if it is possible to make the inner part of the model rotate in nifskope.. then I will redo the texture for another type I have.
phryxolydian Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 I'll have to test it in-game, then. The vanilla shot also looks completely yellow, btw. (Which doesn't mean I don't like it)
Aiyen Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 Yeah you are only ever going to see the detail in the texture if you go up close.. I made the intensities etc based on the closet walkable distance you can get to it. It is up on that vantage point in the image. From there you can see the detail in the texture. However from further away the only thing you see is the difference between the pattern and the yellow background. Depending on which feedback I get I will make adjustments to it. But I am trying to limit myself from nitpicking too much over stuff atm so I can get all the stuff that have annoyed me for ages done instead!
