What is this?

DynDOLOD is a set of tools based on TES5Edit and TES5LODGen to automatically create a Skyrim mod based on the load order which adds distant LOD for objects to Skyrim. By combining DynDOLOD with TES5LODGen users can create drastically enhanced traditional static LOD plus tree LOD and the new, optional dynamic distant object LOD in a few 'simple' steps.

DynDOLOD is meant for enthusiast modders who are familiar with using TES5Edit. Enthusiast modders have a general knowledge of computers, folders and files, especially Skyrims 'Data' folders and how to install mods safely with a manager or manually.

To fully expand the visual experience and use the additional features offered by TES5LODGen the DynDOLOD package comes with over 1000 new or updated LOD models for objects that were badly missing from the original game like the Skyhaven Temple or landscape features like roads, smaller rocks and dirt cliffs that simply make the distant landscape look much more natural and alive.

What does it do?

It makes Skyrim look like this

Hey Sheson I like to say that I've also had the black squares issue happening in my installation of Dynolod. I'm testing to see if this is an issue only prevalent on medium settings (I'm downgrading my Lod from medium to low).

I can't upload any pictures right now because Imgur site is down, I will when it's back up.

We already resolved the problem, do you already have the latest xEdit with the latest LODGen.exe v1.0.0 beta 6?

For me this was because I sometimes install all the optionals and patches for DynDOLOD in the same folder so I don't have to open the download archive. The script checks every folder for lod files, so it starts looking in DynDOLOD - Base\options\meshes etc, fix was to just install the necessary base files. Or maybe the LODGEN script could be modified to ignore folders named options

No, instead follow the install instructions of DynDOLOD. Whatever resources are in the data folder and seen by xEdit or the game are used. It is already bad having to add exceptions for certain mods. Files with ".mohidden" in their pathnames are ignored. You can add your custom folder names that only apply to your setup to the IgnoreLODMesh= and IgnoreFullMesh= lists in DynDOLOD_TES5.ini.

My "Dyndolod output\Meshes\Terrain\Tamriel\Objects" foler is empty, hence no distant lod in game. Meshes are created for all other world spaces (Blackreach, Sovangarde, Soulcairn etc.).
In MCM, Dyndolod is active, but no distant objects are to be seen.

I use Mod Organizer. My load order is the following:

Skyrim.esm
Update.esm
Dawnguard.esm
Hearthfire.esm
Dragonborn.esm
Unofficial Skyrim Legendary Edition Patch.esp
HighResTexturePack01.esp
HighResTexturePack02.esp
HighResTexturePack03.esp
Unofficial High Resolution Patch.esp
SkyUI.esp
DynDOLOD.esp

And of course I have:

SKSE - scripts
PapyrusUtil - Modders Scripting Utility Functions v3.2
Vanilla Skyrim LOD Billboards

as requested by DynDOLOD.

I have followed all the tutorials I could find starting with Gamer Poets video.I have tried multiple times to run the lod generator. It takes a long time as it would actually be doing something but in the end the "Meshes\Terrain\Tamriel\Objects" folder is empty.
I have the output folder on my desktop. In the past I had Skyrim installed in Program Files (x86) and Mod Organizer and Tes5Edit within the Skyrim folder and DynDOLOD was working fine then. I moved the steam folder with Skyrim and all my other games to C:\ as some people say that beeing in Program Files (x86) can be problematic for mods.

I don't know where else to post this.
Any help would be welcomed. Thank you.

Make sure you have the latest LODGen.exe included in the required latest xEdit download.

Thanks for the reply. Yes I have the latest xEdit. I just tried to create only static LOD for Tamriel but it gives me this error:

"Exception in unit  line -1: Error in unit 'functions' on line 684 : Expression expected but 'then' found".

It created only 1 bto file in the objects folder by the way.

I don't save changes to DynDOLOD.esp. I'm just trying to create lod for Tamriel so I can then just move it to Mod Organizer mods folder.

Make sure the files in the subfolders ..\xEdit\Edit Scripts\DynDOLOD\ and especially in ..\xEdit\Edit Scripts\DynDOLOD\lib\ belong to DynDOLOD 1.47 and are not from an older version.

I just re-downloaded DyndOLOD and replaced the DynDOLOD folder in ..\xEdit\Edit Scripts\ and tried to generate static lod only, using the advanced tab from DynDOLOD World.pas but still no meshes. I didn't save changes to DynDOLOD.esp.

I guess there's no fix for me.

Does that mean that DynDOLOD World.pas is now completing successfully without Exception in unit  line -1: Error in unit 'functions' on line 684 : Expression expected but 'then' found?

The process now starts LODGen.exe to generate static LOD? Now check LODGen_log.txt if it still says v0.9 or v 1.0 beta 6... and/or if there is new error message in LODGen_log.txt.

No, I still have the error, I just ran DynDOLOD World.pas again in expert mode.

Also after I click Execute LODGen.exe and then OK I get this window, even after I replaced the old DynDOLOD folder in ..\xEdit\Edit Scripts\. I'm thinking some data or some preferences may be still saved somewhere in Mod Organizer or I don't know...

Or is that just the output file path?

Here's the LODGen_log.txt:

If DynDOLOD World.pas stops prematurely because of an error it will not create an updated export file for LODGen.exe or be able to start LODGen.exe.

If the new LODGen.exe is not started to generate static LOD it can not its logfile and show if it is the new version or not.

So you still have the error in DynDOLOD Worlds.pas Exception in unit  line -1: Error in unit 'functions' on line 684 : Expression expected but 'then' found?

Please upload or post in spoilers

..\xEdit\Edit Scripts\DynDOLOD\lib\functions.pas

Clicking "Execute LODGen.exe" starts LODGen.exe with the existing export file right away. LODGen.exe should then run for several minutes if the worldspace is Tamriel. If it doesn't you still have an outdated version of LODGen.exe. This will have updated the LODGen_log.txt file. Find the last entry for "Skyrim Object LOD Generator v..." to verify the version is v1.0.0 beta 6.

Clicking "OK" will start processing the selected worldspace with DynDOLOD World.pas. This process will create a new export file and in expert mode it has the safety question if you want to overwrite the existing export file. The non-expert modes simply overwrite without asking.

Yes I still have the error.

I can't upload functions.pas because it's too long. Is there a certain paragraph you want me to upload?

Yeah, in LODGen_log.txt I have "Skyrim Object LOD Generator v0.9" still. But I re-downloaded TES5Edit from this link earlier today, deleted the old TES5Edit in Skyrim folder and copied the new one which should have the new LODGen.exe in it.
