Regarding load order...

I am still trying to figure some things out.

Say I have mod A and mod B. Both mods have plugins. Mod A provides compatibility patch for mod B.

Where do I put the compatibility patch in my load order? After mod B? It's kind of totally logical and obvious, but I've been dug in MO for the past few days so much I don't even know my name.

It goes after the plugin that loads last. If mod A's plugin loads last then the patch goes after it, and if mod B's plugin loads last then the patch goes after it.

Uh, that's pretty confusing.

 

Does that apply universally?

Alright, the patch plugin goes after both of the mod's plugins. So somewhere after the plugin for mod A & B place the patch plugin. Always, and forever unless BOSS sorts it for you.

Put simply, it always goes like this:

 

Mod A

Mod B

Patch C

 

or

 

Mod B

Mod A

Patch C

 

Doesn't matter which mod provides the patch, it always has to be after both affected mods.

Look at the order the masters are in for the esp. That is the order that patch should generally be (unless the author of the patch file didn't sort masters).

It's really quite useful. I didn't use it for the longest time because "Meh, I don't need it" and then got annoyed to no end after running Boss or a patcher that runs Boss as part of it's patching process. Finally installed it and I can't really do without now.

The BOSS GUI has a user rules manager. It just isn't as versatile as bum.
