Multiple Mod Organizers for one game

Question

Posted

Is there anyone who uses two seperate installs of Mod Organizer? Wondering how it'll work NCC and Nexus install links?

Reason is that it is getting too messy with STEP:Core, full STEP, SR and a custom profile... totalling 800 mods. Rather split it between two MO's.

I use a separate install for FNV and Skyrim, but I think you can use separate installs for one game as long as you name them differently. You might have to do the manual Nexus link thing with the program that comes with MO to get it to work correctly.

I currently have six separate installs of MO for Skyrim. I have implemented the following on each of them:

All share a common download directory.

Each uses its own mods directory.

Each MO install is named for the type of Mods I will run from it. IE. Skyre, Requiem, Etc.

The only downside is increased HDD storage and using multiple installs of MO and running BOSS, BUM between them will sometimes loose the load order of the ESPs and BUMs userlist will need constant refreshing. I have resorted to copying BOSS, BUM and Tes5Edit to each MO directory and setting up my shortcuts for each to run from there. This isolates them to that particular install.

I've been wondering if the separate installs were possible (mainly so I didn't have 600 mods while trying to make my own guide-ish thing). Guess that answers that question, thanks.

Thank you all for your replies.

I've installed a 2nd MO. I didn't use the installer but extracted the archive. I deleted the NCC folder in the new MO install just to be sure it doesn't attach to the registry or anything upon first launch.

It works really well for me:

1. Clcking 'Download with Manager' while MO-1 is open, and MO-2 is closed, will download the file within the directory specified of MO1

2. Clicking 'Download with Manager' while MO-2 is open, and MO-1 is closed, will download the file within the directory specified of MO2

3. Clicking 'Download with Manager' while no MO is open, will download the file within the directory specified of MO1

4. You can't have two seperate instances of MO running at the same time (unless you change the .exe filename I guess)

I haven't yet tried how running seperate instances of MO will work with BUM. Ideally, BUM has a different list for each MO instance. But since the program's installer attaches itself to your first installed BOSS dir (at least it does this on my pc) I'm not sure if that is possible. Good thing is that STEP doesn't require any BUM stuff so I haven;t had the need for it on my 2nd MO.

EDIT: My Fault! Moved MO Outside Fallout Directory and WFlash recognizes my Mod list. Yay!

Original Post:

Hi guys! I apologize in advance if this is covered.

New Vegas+Mod Organizer+BOSS+Wrye Flash+FNVEdit=all installed and working.

*When I open Wrye Flash in MO the file tree won't recognize the MODS in Mod Organizer.*

IOW: I open MO then I open WF inside MO exe options and the mods in WF are NOT what I have enabled in MO.

I haven't found anything so I'm asking here.

Thank You STEP Community!

^verified   or at least that's how I have to do it. Which is No Problem and glad it works this way :)

I don't use BUM in 2nd MO for fallout NV.
