Hello, wondering if it's fine to use some of the Conflict Resolution patch required mods in the guide, leave some off my mod list, and be fine playing the game with 95% of the STEP guide without the Conflict Resolution patch.

For example, I do not want to use Cathedral Landscape, AMidian Reborn Content Addon, Armor and Clothing Extension, or The Choice is Yours - I am also not using any of the CACO, CCCR, WAACF mods.

Would the guide be okay to use if every other conflict resolution "required" mod is used in my mod list?

I have used the STEP guide multiple times and did everything including LOD, ENB, all that. Works great. I know how to finetune my mod list and have it been fine outside of the guide. This time however, I simply don't want to use those mods and wondered if excluding them but also not using the conflict resolution patch (it requires them, game crashes with patch obviously) would still lead to a safe, crash-free (to the degree Skyrim allows ofc lol) playthrough.

Thanks in advance! If there is anything I can do in xEdit or something would be appreciated as well. Not too experienced in it besides quick cleaning plugins.

CACO, CCOR, TCIY, and WACCF are already optional. Just use the CR Patch and possibly the LW Patch if you are keeping the Step Lighting solution.

See an example of removing a Step Patch master to understand how to modify the Step Patch for your build in the event you drop a master.

My point is that I CANNOT use the CR patch, it crashes on startup presumably due to missing masters which I am well aware are missing, but I am using SOME of the mods in the guide it requires. I am asking if its "safe" (obviously to certain leeway) to not use the CR patch even with most of the mods that "need" it in the STEP Guide configuration.

I can see though that, somehow, if I can remove the masters for Cathedral Landscapes, TCIY, Amidian Reborn and Armor & Clothing Expansion - I could use the patch? Those are the ONLY mods I am not using from the guide. Need to learn how to do that. Never done that before. Read the link you sent, appreciate that. Still a bit confused but thats just from inexperience in trying.

Yes, sorry. I implicitly addressed your question rather than explicitly. You should definitely use the Step Patches that apply. They resolve many conflicts like those that LOOT notes as well as many others.

If you CTD, it's due to missing masters, so removing the master records from the patches using the post I linked is the recommended approach. Otherwise, you would need to basically recreate your own patch, which would be orders-of-magnitude more difficult and time consuming.

Here's another topic that should help you with removing masters from the Step patches. It's really quite simple. Just make a copy of your plugin elsewhere if you are worried about mucking things up (but xEdit does this already as you will have noted in the Restore the Vanilla Masters section fo the guide.

Note that after you "Clean Masters" from the Step Patch plugin, you will lose the dummy masters we have added for proper LOOT sorting, so you should re-add those plugins as masters (RWT and AMM, I think) by right clicking > Add Masters.
