I have modified EnableAchievementsWithMods = false in ..\SSE Engine Fixes (Part 1)\skse\plugins\EngineFixes.toml yet I'm still receiving this message when I try to load a save.  Any ideas?

What is your game runtime version/environment exactly? It's not clear if you need Backported Extended ESL Support.

Did you also set?

SaveAddedSoundCategories = false
SaveScreenshots = false

Have you followed advice in the SSE EF sticky?

You can also try verifying files via Steam, and re-downloading the CC content (you can also set bFreebiesSeen=0 in SkyrimPrefs.ini), or restore your original cleaned ones if you saved them.

What about the save you are loading and the game environment when that was created?

When did this begin happening, and what might have triggered it all of the sudden? Is this only after updating to the latest game?

If so, follow the SSG and effectively restore the vanilla game as mentioned

Just updated to 1.6.1170.  I was running 1.6.670.  I updated a lot of mods including SSE Engine Fixes.  Made all the changes specified to the toml file including the two you mentioned.  I updated to SKSE64 2.02.06.  I updated Address Library.  The save I am trying to load is from 1.6.670.

I noticed in the Creation options menu there is a selection to Disable missing Creation check on load.  I can attempt to load a save if I disable the load check but then the game crashes.  I guess I'll just disable all my mods and run through the STEP guide enabling each one at a time.  I probably missed updating a mod or something.

Can you start a new game without issue? If so, then it's obviously something in the save. Possibly one of the mods you had been using that isn't compatible with the changed game files or the save data.

Did you use a new instance for your updated build so that you can try to work with that save in the old 1.6.670 instance?

To save time, disable all mods, and enable half, test, and so on rather than enabling one by one.

Extenders, Fixes, and Interface mods are the most likely suspects.

New game crashed as well.  Unfortunately, I deleted my 670 instance after I copied/renamed to 1170.

It seems that Complete Widescreen Fix is causing my game to crash when I try to load a save.  If I disable it, the save loads.

EDIT:  It's hudmenu.swf from the Complete Widescreen Fix.  If I hide that file, the save loads.

EDIT:  Oh, it's because I didn't have SkyHUD enabled.  Doh!

EDIT:  Another issue I had was that most of my plugins were disabled even though the mod was enabled in the left pane.  Not sure how that happened.

Yeah, SkyUI is obviously needed ;)

Plugins can be disabled with the mod enabled for a number of reasons, particularly if you hide/unhide files or otherwise manipulate data under the mods. Disabling and re-enabling should fix it though.

I read in an older post that SSE Engine Fixes has been causing users plugins to auto disable themselves.  I wonder if that mod will ever get an update where we can have achievements enabled again.

Also, it looks like Fire Hurts NG was causing a CTD when I loaded a save.  That mod hasn't been updated yet.  Updating from 670 to 1170 is becoming a can of worms.

EDIT:  I tried the Achievements Mods Enabler mod but when I try to load a save it just opens up the Creation Club Content menu.

EDIT:  Ah, if I select "No" and then "Yes" on the two missing content warnings, then it loads the save without opening the Creation menu.

If you update to the new runtime, it's recommended you begin a new playthrough.

If you must continue a 670 playthrough, then you should disable all mods causing issues and create a clean save (you can also try Save Cleaner and/or FallrimTools).

Then begin enabling and testing the disabled mods with the cleaner save.

Interestingly enough, it is reported that the three "false" toml modifications are no longer necessary since Engine Fixes was updated provided we are using the current versions of Engine Fixes (6.2) and SKSE (2.2.6) which support game version 1.6.1170.

Where are you getting this information? SSEEF has no changelog for 6.2.

I'm seeing that Zanderat has posted a SSEEF toml with this info.

Please try Zanderat's toml, and let us know if that alone fixes anything.

Just finished going through this Clean Savegame Procedure.  I have changed the three "false" entries in the Engine Fixes toml file to "true".  After selecting "No" and then "Yes" to the missing content messages and then creating a new save, I can load my new save without issue.  Just need to regenerate all my LOD files now.

Can you try using Zanderat's toml with your original, uncleaned save and report findings?

My uncleaned save is from game version 1.6.670 which relies on mods that don't work in game version 1.6.1170.  So really I need to clean the save to run the game without those now broken mods (especially Faction Fixes).

Zanderat has changed a few other lines in the Engine Fixes toml file and did not change the line WaterFlowSpeed to 16.

[EngineFixes]
CleanSKSECosaves = true                # Delete SKSE cosaves that have no matching save

[Patches]
MaxStdio = 8192                         # Sets the maximum number of open file handles (default 512), preventing the game from running out with large plugin counts (fixes false save corruption)
RegularQuicksaves = true               # Makes quick saves into regular saves
SleepWaitTime = true                   # Modifies how long it takes an hour to pass when sleeping/waiting.

[Experimental]
SaveGameMaxSize = true                 # Expands the maximum uncompressed size of a save game from 64 MB to 128 MB# can fix "crash on save" issue in long-runnning saves
