Question

Posted

I'm just starting off with Skyrim SE 1.6.1130 and testing out a bunch of mods before cementing them. NPCs are set essential randomly. Kleppr and family, Betrid (who is meant to die in Forsworn Conspiracy), etc. I can't kill them with command kill either.

Could one of these mods be causing this? I deselected all the ones I thought might be culprits, but the problem continues. Thanks in advance for any insight.

FYI for anyone having the same problem. Apparently WICO has this bizarre feature of randomly setting NPCs essential. There are patches that fix this. I had to try a combination of different mods and patches to finally find one that worked and let me keep my character without deforming her.

Thank you.

I deselected my mods in batches and finally took off everything and just ran vanilla, 5-year long intro and all. The only people that were set essential and couldn't be command killed were vendors and quest givers/storyline etc. I think that's normal. So it has to be one of the mods or the dependencies.

I'd really appreciate if someone could help me troubleshoot this.

You completed the first troubleshooting step by disabling mods to confirm it's a mod or combination of mods causing this issue. Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with many of your mods.

Next step is to reenable all mods you know don't alter NPCs to confirm the same using a new game (with ASLAL this time). Then enable half of your NPC mods, test, enable the other half, test, etc (sorting with LOOT each time you reenable a block of mods). Do this until you isolate the culprit(s).
