MO 2.08 Beta 4 LOOT Invalid Game Error

Just wanted to report a bug that I get an error when using the "Sort" button with SkyrimSE.  It says invalid game name "SkyrimSE". 

 

Update: lootcli just crashes when I try to sort in any other game, Fallout 4 and Skyrim. 

 

Is this fixable? Do I need an updated lootcli.exe or something?

The internal 'Sort' was based on code for LOOT before SkyrimSE was released and as such it doesn't recognise the new game. It's not likely to be changed in the near future and the easiest way to sort your plugins is to use the full LOOT standalone release.

 

Add that as an executable to MO and add this in the 'Arguments' field:

"--game=Skyrim Special Edition"

Be sure to include the quotations otherwise it will miss the last two words and think it is just 'Skyrim'.

I am having a similar issue.

I decided to run Skyrim, SkyrimSE, and Fallout4 thought 1 instance of MO2. Everything works (TES5Edit, SSEedit, Body Slide, Etc ) except LOOT. The application runs yet only the base game elements are displayed, not any of the mods.

As the mods are now housed in the user/appdata folder by MO, is there an argument I need to add so that LOOT sees them?

I tried setting the "start in" field to "C:\Users\John\AppData\Local\Skyrim\mods" but that didn't work. Any ideas?

Using LOOT in MO2 is exactly the same as using it in version 1.

Add it to the list of executables in MO and either run it via the dropdown menu or set a toolbar icon.

The setup for it should look something like this in the executable list:

5\title=LOOT
5\custom=true
5\toolbar=false
5\ownicon=false
5\binary=D:/Games/Utils/LOOT/LOOT.exe
5\arguments="\"--game=Skyrim\""
5\workingDirectory=
5\steamAppID=

Substitute the arguments line with these variations for whichever game you are running:

"--game=FalloutNV"

"--game=Fallout4"

"--game=Fallout3"

"--game=Oblivion"

"--game=Skyrim Special Edition"

 

Calling LOOT from MO2 will give LOOT the set of mods in the current profile and it will function as it would if called from outside MO.

Well the sort button was removed from the latest release due to this exact issue. And one of my dev drives just died so modorganizer will have to take a back seat for a while.

By the way guys, I've been working on getting the sort button up to date. It sorts the plugins successfully, so hopefully that will be in the next release.

Nice to hear more are trying to work on the repo. As for the 'Sort' button, it is going to be removed in favour of using the full LOOT program so your edits may be rendered useless. :confused:

Where did you hear that? Also, it is actually fairly convenient to press the sort button. Plus no having to go through a separate GUI based program.

 

Well the sort button was removed from the latest release due to this exact issue. And one of my dev drives just died so modorganizer will have to take a back seat for a while.

He just hid the button so people couldn't press it. The button/functions were never removed.

In a personal conversation with him it was discussed to remove for the following reasons:

1. as described above a few users have errors
2. the internal sorting lacks the reporting features and thus you are unable to edit metadata
3. @Tannin was initially going to incorporate all the LOOT features into MO at a later stage, that's now not going to happen
4. it makes more sense to have an essential tool developed by the original developers
5. it's just as easy to call LOOT as it is to press 'Sort'.
