Not sure why you can't. the "download with manager" feature is a "custom link" that must be opened in an app instead of a browser. When a browser fisrt encounter an nxm link, it will ask you with which application you want to open it. You should choose "nxmhandler.exe" (present in the same install folder as MO), this will take care of redirecting the download link to the mod manager you wish depending on the game the mod is designed for (in your case, MO for Skyrim I guess).

This is the same concept as "magnet links" for torrent downloads.

If your other browser already registered an other app for nxmlinks, you have to switch it to nxmhandler. You can usually do this in the configuration/options of your browser. Here is how it look in firefox : OmDJhkV.png

Google "how to change default program for magnet link in XXXX" with XXXX being your browser, and you should find the info you're looking for, you'll just have to follow the procedure for "nxm" instead of "magnet", and of course use the path to the nxmhandler instead of a torrent client ^^

This should work universally across all browsers installed on the system. At least it does for me on Firefox, Chrome and Internet explorer on my system. My default browser is Firefox.

The only time MO uses the default browser when you press the Globe icon or click a link on the nexus information tab.

What browser are you having a problem with?

Sorry, I did not make the connection. I downloaded and installed it and have to say they have it locked down. It does not recognize the download with manager link at all. My guess is they have programmed or at least took some setting and turned it off.

I will keep fiddling around with it in my spare time.

Regardless of the browser you have, if previously you were able to use MO's nxmhandler there will be this registry setting:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\nxm\shell\open\command

which points to nxmhandler.exe in the location of your MO install. This is the case regardless of the browser you choose to run.

If it does not exist, as would be the case on a system where MO or NMM was not installed, you can manually create this registry setting and point it to that executable on your system.

If, and I don't know if Tor allows this, file protocols on websites are not passed to 3rd-party applications, such as MO's nxmhandler.exe, then regardless of this registry setting you won't be able to use Tor to initiate a download.
