It would be nice if we could have polls and then close them without deleting the results or the topic. If you agree, post on the IPB forum thread.

wanted Purposeful Save as Draft (autosave already included)
z929669 posted a question in Forum Support
Just starting this for the record. this is desired functionality, IMO, so register on IPB forums and cast your vote to get this functionality! https://community.invisionpower.com/topic/398607-save-new-topic-post-as-draft/ See post #10 and #11 for explanations of current behavior. -
Closing poll and sticking with 15/page Well, it turns out I cannot close the poll without deleting it :

I did not watch the video, but the human brain likely has a limit to its capacity to perceive frames beyond a certain point ... but real life has ∞ FPS ;) 30 FPS is definitely lower than my max perception if looking at a fast-moving object though (film can prove that). EDIT: oh, and we use most of our brain capacity, but at probably only 10% efficiency

DROPPED Better Males (by Chris57 and FavoredSoul)
z929669 replied to z929669's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I like body textures at 2k and just use the 565 uncompressed format for all MSN bodies (1/3 reduction [2/3 size] from 888). I think the default for HRDLC vanilla is actually uncompressed 4k 888 (male/female bodies, not argonians and kajiits) ... IIRC. -

The "quality loss" is not real. The optimized versions are not normalized ... you can look at the normalized version in Gimp with the correct plugins ... the game shader normalizes, so there is no perceptible quality loss in game (this is true for any optimized MSN) 565 uncompressed is the best conversion format, which will reduce the texture size by 1/3. You can also convert to 1k of course for 2/3 total reduction (if I am doing the math correctly). Use this method for face hands and any MSN normal maps -

Please do not be insulting when referencing an author's work. Think of a neutral way to say what you mean or simply say noting at all : -
Good. Just needed to trigger it as "active"
-
Give it a try now

No idea about this. I defer to s4n and need others to corroborate.
-
Yep, that is my position

Still only a large handful of votes, but so far we have 6 (15), 6 (20+) ... accounting for CJ's mucked up vote (which I secretly believe represents his own inner struggle between 15/20 ) unless we get a whole lot more votes for 20+, it would seem that 15 is the sweet spot from both user and performance perspectives.

I am a scientist, too, but I don't think that posting this sort of thing under this particular forum is in any way a problem. That is what this forum is here for. It is in no way irresponsible or problematic. It is not the premise of this community. It is an idea and an ideology that spurs philosophical debate. Pick out the pieces that you don't buy and discredit them scientifically rather than attribute a generalized discredit to the overarching topic. Or simply ignore this thread and post something elsewhere in this forum about whatever strikes your fancy I 'believe' in the laws of thermodynamics, and am skeptical about much of the content that is likely mixed into this topic, but there are undoubtedly some truths mixed in as well. It is pretty obvious that the world's governments and entities in power control the media outlets and that there are a lot of things kept secret, so DO mistrust those in power, and DO remain skeptical about everything that is not supported by lots of data, but DON'T presume that all elements of all conspiracy theories are bogus ... that would be pretty unscientific. Open-mindedness is a fundamental rule of science, and nothing can ever be 'proven' but only 'disproven'. I for one believe that life exists elsewhere in the universe, and it would seem silly to think otherwise, unless you are a creationist and you believe that the 6,000 year-old world is flat and we humans are not animals that evolved from amino acids in the primordial soup just like everything else on this planet. Skepticism is science. And I remain skeptical of many ideas purported here and of the propaganda that is spoon fed to society as well. I don't think that there is a grand scheme though ... just pockets of scheming that can seem grandiose if you think too hard about it. Humans know virtually nothing about the universe and the "big picture", but it is healthy and respectable to consider anything and everything and attempt to disprove it all ... this is how scientific theories are born.

ACCEPTED Better Shaped Weapons - BSW (by masterofshadows and LeanWolf)
z929669 replied to WilliamImm's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Hmmm. There is a lot of variation described here, so we should settle on one method for STEP in the guide. As described, I run the DSR java app and let it create the patch. This is one of the last things I do after installing all mods and cmpatibility patches. I then install the DSR patch at the very end by creating a mod using the Skyproc-patch meshes that are configured in my Overwrite directory. -
Regarding uGrids: With ENBoost and the new memory patch, uGrids 15 or higher is pretty viable on most modern machines, so that is not an issue at all. What IS an issue is that if you are playing uGrids 9 or greater with things like requiem, SkyTest, Immersive Creatures and other NPS script add-ons (a generally heavily-scripted game), you WILL get things like saber cats and elk just standing around looking at you until you smack them. Also, enemy NPCs will just stand there until you attack them. Basically, the script limit is reached with heavily-scripted game, and NPC behaviors are all wrong. This starts at uGrids 9, but it may be possible to go as high as uGrids 11 or even 13 with STEP setup (I have not tested scripted behavior for pure STEP at high uGrids for any extended period). There is nothing 'dangerous' about high uGrids anymore, but it could be a gamplay 'killer' with respect to 'immersion'. It would be great to get confirmation of NPC behaviors at high uGrids to better understand the limits with STEP:Core at least. Then we could suggest higher uGrids as an option in the guide and also recommend whichever Vurt's looks best at various uGrids.

ACCEPTED Better Shaped Weapons - BSW (by masterofshadows and LeanWolf)
z929669 replied to WilliamImm's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
The DSR patch should be among the last in the install order, IIRC. The DSR plugin itself can remain up top under 'Fixes' (someone correct me if I am wrong, but DSR patches with meshes needed for the custom skeleton, assuming that the necessary patches are used for DSR) -
Highslide is the custom plugin that s4n is working on. No ETA as yet, but it is high priority.

ACCEPTED Complete Crafting Overhaul Remade (by kryptopyr)
z929669 replied to statmonster's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I love this mod and would not leave home without it. That said, I think that we need to determine if it is right for Extended (I think it is). If it is not, then it needs to be bundled into a Pack with all compatibility options and patches needed to work with Extended-to-be. -
May I ask if you do not use all of the STEP:Core mods and why if not? I understand if you do not use all of the non-core mods ... just asking about Core here. From the sound of it, this is a 'fix' and belongs in Core. Custom scripting ensures compatibility unless a dependent condition will be affected later by some other mod.

DROPPED The Skyrim Distance Overhaul (by Grieche)
z929669 replied to MadWizard25's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I am a big fan as well. It should be Core, but not until we determine the performance cost (just genarally). We need to know if this mod in particular is a deal breaker in and of itself ... We need to ask DoubleYou to test for us ... he is on an old and crusty box. -

I think CaBaL is still working on this one. Perhaps we should wait until he is finished? -
SKYRIMLE Transparent and Refracting Icicle and Frost Atronach by Skysan4298
z929669 replied to james4832's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Mods are not 'lost' :/ We need to stop using visual cues alone for isolating mod groups (or anything else). There are just too many mods, and this method does not scale. Use the metatags and search methods to isolate as Tech suggests. Actually, if you click out or this topic/thread up two to the top of the forum, you will notice that, under the "Mods" forum table row, there are two tag categories, "testing" and "accepted". Click on either of these to efficiently isolate either -
SKYRIMLE New Forest Atronach - by Ren by Rengel
z929669 replied to rootsrat's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I like BoS best too, but Ren's is also good. I like that Ren's seems to be a bit less busy with the leaves, but that could be the screenshot bias. What I want to know is why/how is it we are not using BoS currently in STEP? We are installing BoS creatures .... -
ACCEPTED Better Shaped Weapons - BSW (by masterofshadows and LeanWolf)
z929669 replied to WilliamImm's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I advocate accepting this (thanks for testing, Tech ... these results are the confirmation I needed). Unless anyone disagrees, we have the testing and votes needed to add to Core. -

Agree that current STEP (BoS?) is better. I think we can remove from testing unless the advocates care to defend.
