How to remove mod master dependendy?
Bundy714 replied to Rechet's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Many thanks QueueTeePie, this little trick helped me immensely. I thought I was going to have to rebuild an entire SR LE conflict resolution patch because I removed a mod, and this let me remove that mod as a master, saving me from the long process of rebuilding the whole patch. Not only did it solve my problem, but it was so easy to do. AWESOME.....thanks again. -
Strange no one has replied to this post.....so I'll give it a go. Nothing eats FPS like an ENB, so I use I Cant Believe It's Not ENB v3 SweetFX instead. It looks pretty darn good, has close to zero FPS impact, and avoids another issue I have with ENB's, in that you get one that looks great outside, but then it doesn't look so good in interiors or dungeons. And it's easily turned on or off by hitting the scrollock key IF you have an issue in any scene/or location. I'm also not a stickler for the highest resolution on everything. It just depends on what it is, but a lot of times I go with the 1k textures and they look pretty darn good too. On certain things I go with the 2k textures, but not many things. And I also avoid parallax, even though I was led to believe it isn't very memory intensive.....just because I personally don't get that much out of it, and it sometimes makes square stones in roads look like wavy distorted shapes. Its a personal preference, but I just don't see it as necessary, and if it's not necessary, I'd prefer to load my PC down doing more stuff that I get more out of. I really don't know if avoiding parallax is necessary or not, I just do it out of an abundance of caution. Of course run sheson's memory patch and ENBoost without the graphics option (If you decide not to run an ENB). I get that you want to use your 3 monitors in surround mode, and with that many pixels, I'd think you'd need a beast of a card to run an ENB with that kind of setup. Think about it, that is a LOT of pixels. I don't have a beast of a computer, I have an I5 3570k cpu, a Radeon HD 7950 with 3gb of vram, and 16gb of system ram. But I only use one monitor at 1920x1080. I could probably use higher resolution textures, but I'm a miser with my ram.....I want to play Skyrim, not push it to it's limits until I have issues. So I take a pretty cautious approach. Good luck!

Thanks, guess I'm gonna do a disk image first because of an abundance of caution, then try and reinstall MO. Between the Python thing, and now this Fomod issue, I'm really wondering if something isn't messed up or corrupt in my MO or registry. Lord knows I pointed it at every directory that had anything to do with Python and it still says Python isn't installed. Now this fomod installation issue is cropping up, and I've lost all confidence in it. It's not like this is an old, gunked up Windows environment. I've got a new, clean installation (not an upgrade) of Windows 10, on a new SSD. Everything works great except for MO, which is slowly losing it's features and ability to run it's various plugins for some reason. Maybe I've angered the Nine Divines by playing Fallout 4 for a while, and this is my punishment. EDIT......this is what happens when I get sleep deprived. I double checked the DROPS archives I downloaded, and they don't even have a FOMOD in them! The latest version (v.3) has all the different textures and meshes but no FOMOD. I double checked Neo's instructions and he says to use version 1, not v 3.....and v1 has a FOMOD. Geeeeez, I am getting old. How embarrassing. Always check the simple stuff first, before elevating the problem to a more complex issue. I am so sorry guys, my bad. I took up your time over nothing. And I claimed I could follow instructions too. Geeeez In my defense, it seems that DROPS v1 with Fomod is superior to DROPS v3 without fomod (maybe?), if you want the new and improved textures. So, that just kind of threw me for a loop, because I naturally thought the latest version 3 would be the best....but he has two v1's, one is his original drops, the other optional v1 seems to be v3 drops, but it's his first that includes a fomod, so he called it version 1 too. Too many version 1's for me to wrap my head around. I need a drink. If I were drinking, I'd at least have an excuse for this word salad. I've just reached my Sarah Palin level of posting. Hey TechAngel85, lets just delete this whole thread and pretend it never happened.

I appreciate the reply, but I've tried that several times. Tried just turning the internal Fomod installer enabled to False, the preferred to False, both settings to false, closed MO and restarted in between all those things, and still there is nothing in the External NCC fomod tab, and when I install the mod, the Fomod is not being run. I'm wondering about my MO, as this is the second strange thing it's done. The first was about a third of the way through my STEP installation, it claimed I didn't have Python installed. I looked into that, found it was only needed to run the Configurator (Which I had run earlier, btw). The Python files are in my MO directory, but I also installed Python 2. 77 as a stand alone installation and tried pointing MO at it, but still it claims I have no Python....and the files are there, and it was working before. So screw it, just not going to be able to run Configurator I guess...no big deal. I have no idea why it was using python before, but now claims it can't find it. Now I have this missing NCC problem and those files are there too. And it's been installing FOMODS, but I imagine it was using the interal FOMOD installer. Do I have Gremlins? Why is my MO slowly losing functionality? One option at a time. I'm about half way through a VERY long Neovalen Revisited installation and my MO is starting to act all crazy on me. Can I reinstall MO and not have to lose all my profiles, and setup? Geeeez I don't want to have to do that. Neo's pretty specific in his instructions. IF there was a problem with the DROPS Fomod, he'd have something about it in his instructions. And I've even tried downloading different DROPS versions, the 512kb, the 1k, and the 2k, just to make sure I didn't get a bad download or corrupt fomod. Nothing works.....well, it installs, but it's just throwing EVERY texture and mesh over there and not using the FOMOD to let me pick which particular texture and mesh I want to use. And BTW.....this isn't my first rodeo. I've been installing STEP and using Mod Organizer for years now. I may not be as sharp as some of you guys, but I'm no newbie, and I can follow instructions, and normally don't have any issues at all.

I'm running Mod Organizer 1.3.11 and having a bit of a problem. I've got a mod DROPS v3 that has a Fomod installer. It's not running the Fomod, so I did some research and found that sometimes you need to use the external ncc fomod installer, rather than the internal one. There is a NCC folder full of stuff in my Mod Organizer directory, but when I click on Plugins, Fomod installer (External) there is nothing there. How do I make it use the NCC installer? Or how do I set up the NCC installer. I think I could make it use it, if I could just get Mod Organizer to realize it's available.

Haha, and I thought it was just me. I was installing Neo's SR LE a couple days ago, and luckily there was an already optimized HD textures you could download on the Nexus, so I skipped dealing with DDSopt for a bit. Then I got to the first Quest mod (Falskaar) that he wanted me to optimize. So, I installed DDSopt, put in the latest .ini, and got to the Interface section of the guide and thought ok, so I just set my interface with these options checked. No problem. UNTIL I got to Constraints, then it had 3 different pictures, and I was lost. Which setting am I supposed to use now? I have no clue....decided it was just frustrating me, and making me feel stupid, and decided texture optimizing mods was not my thing. Maybe it was too late and I was too tired and sleepy, but it did nothing but frustrate me.....and make me go to bed. Maybe that's a good thing, it was really late. I'm gonna go back and look at Neo's instructions again, and maybe he tells me which settings to use. The Guide surely didn't. It left me so lost that I took two days off from setting my game up. It shook my confidence that badly, haha. I may not always know what to do, but I like to think I'm at least smart enough to follow instructions. Then again, maybe I'm not. Edit.....ahhhhh, thankfully Neo does tell me what settings to use. I saw his link to (Guide), and assumed it was to the DDSopt guide, but it's to his own personal sub-guide. Whew.....dodged a bullet there. I can follow instructions! I am no longer a loser that should play on a console. I may not be good at finding the instructions, but when I do, I can follow them. haha. Life is good again.

Thanks, I didn't quite understand how that worked. To try it out, I just clicked on copy (for the first time) and saw that it then asks for a new name. Now this makes perfect sense, and it's perfectly logical. Edit: "Select "Vanilla Skyrim" then click [Copy]." It was right in front of my face, reading FAIL on my part. LOL Thanks TechAngel85! You guys at STEP are just awesome. And you guys have the patience of a Saint. Dealing with us can be tough. Sometimes I get to reading support threads (both for knowledge and their entertainment value) and I don't know how you could possibly have the patience to help with some of the questions and user induced problems you deal with. Every other post starts with "I followed the instructions exactly..." and that's when I would say, no you didn't, or you wouldn't be having problems. LOL But not you guys, you are always so helpful and polite, I don't know how you do it. But I'm certainly glad you do! My favorite today was a user that "followed the instructions exactly to set up the SKSE memory patch" in MO, but wondered why when he started Skyrim from NMM that his memory patch wasn't working! I laughed till I was about to cry. But you guys helped him and never once suggested that he might be better off buying a console. Just amazing patience and dedication. It would drive me to drink.

I've been away from Skyrim for about a year, and have decided to play it again. Installed Skyrim, ran it from the launcher to create the .ini files, installed Mod Organizer and I have the EXACT same jumbled, screwed up .ini error messages as Cloudlander. How in the heck did this happen? Some errors are just crazy, with sections not only wrong, but even being in the wrong .ini. I don't remember having anything like this happen the last time I set up Skyrim. These .ini's are a full blown mess. They were supposed to be created by the game when we first ran Skyrim, so we haven't created this mess. Skyrim automatically created these .ini files, so how in the heck are things so wrong? Even to the point of sections being in the wrong .ini file? As you can see, my errors are exactly the same as Cloudlander's: [D] unknown ini setting fBrightLightColorB [D] unknown ini setting fBrightLightColorG [D] unknown ini setting fBrightLightColorR [D] iRadialBlurLevel in wrong ini file (skyrimprefs.ini, should be skyrim.ini) [D] unknown ini setting iShadowSplitCount [D] iAdapter in wrong ini file (skyrimprefs.ini, should be skyrim.ini) [D] iPresentInterval in wrong ini file (skyrimprefs.ini, should be skyrim.ini) [D] unknown ini setting bMouseAcceleration [D] unexpected section NavMesh in skyrimprefs.ini [D] bDecals in wrong ini file (skyrimprefs.ini, should be skyrim.ini) [D] bSkinnedDecals in wrong ini file (skyrimprefs.ini, should be skyrim.ini) [D] uMaxSkinDecals in wrong ini file (skyrimprefs.ini, should be skyrim.ini) [D] unknown ini setting uMaxSkinDecalsPerActor [D] unexpected section BlurShaderHDR in skyrimprefs.ini [D] unexpected section BlurShader in skyrimprefs.ini Wait a minute.....I think I've found the issue. It's the profile! When I use my default profile, I have no errors. But I created a new profile called "Vanilla No Mods", and it's that profile that has all the crazy .ini errors. So, made my new Vanilla No Mods profile active, ran Skyrim Launcher through Mod Organizer. Quit Skyrim, quit Mod Organizer, and when I reopened Mod Organizer with the Vanilla No Mods profile active, I had no more crazy .ini errors. Life is good again, and I can finish setting up my tools in Mod Organizer. So....was I supposed to carry over my .ini files from the default profile when I created a new profile, or am I supposed to make new .ini files every time I create a new profile? Guess I need to read some more and find out. Obviously, I missed something in the steps involved in creating a new profile.

Thanks, Z....I'm going to try that. And I really appreciate you taking the time to help me, I knew this wasn't a STEP issue, but the folks here are the most intelligent and helpful around, so this is where I turned.  My game did start out as STEP....but then I kind of added my own Bundy-Pack to it. So, now it's STEP Plus.....which is what I imagine a lot of people do. I was a bit in panic mode, I thought my graphics card was failing and I don't have $300 discretionary dollars right now, and it's only been in the last two weeks or so that Skyrim is finally running awesome too. Keeping fingers crossed it stays working that way. Now, to go try out that D3D triple buffering.
-
Ok....here we go. I think my computer has gremlins or something. The issue started last night...and continued when I booted up this morning. Now it's gone. WTF....I don't even know why. This morning I ran Skyrim a couple times, loaded saved games from way back, still got anemic frame rates. Quit the game, downloaded and tested with several graphics tests.... Still the same in Skyrim. Quit again to do other things, now back in Skyrim and my frame rates are back to normal. I never changed anything. Who knows? And you are correct in that with frame rates at 30, everything still looked fine. Without the FPS counter, I'd have never known any difference. I do really appreciate the answer, and as for your suggestions, I am using RadeonPro and it has Vsync Control set to always on. I've never enabled Vsync in ENBoost, since it was handled by RadeonPro. It may be contrary to guidelines but it's been working for me without a glitch for a while now. I use RadeonPro to use SweetFX, which yeah, I know, Boris doesn't like....but it's working for me. To tell the truth, I was able to read and get everything to work, but I really and truly don't know how it all works. And once working, I don't change ANYTHING, for fear of screwing it up. RadeonPro was a pain to get set up because of lack of documentation, but I've been using it for the longest time once I got it figured out. Long before ENBoost and the Memory Patch came out. Maybe my setup isn't recommended, but it's been working flawlessly since the Memory Patch. I've had a grand total of two CTD's since then, and I'm running more mods than most. To sum up.....the problem fixed itself and disappeared as mysteriously as it appeared. Not sure why....just glad it's gone. Now I wonder if it will stay gone? All it's done is make my blood pressure go up, stress me out, and reinforce the fact that while I may be competent enough to follow directions, I really don't know what's going on under the hood. I suddenly feel very, very old. Perhaps early onset of Alzheimer's? Hmmm, when does Alzheimers start to set in? I can't recall.....ohhhh noooo
-
Ok, I've been in heaven the past couple weeks playing Skyrim without CTD's because of ENBoost and the Memory Patch. I have a HD 7950 and have a FPS counter in the top right corner of my screen at all times, and because I have Vsync enabled, it stays right at 58-60 almost all the time, with heavy intense battles dropping into the 40's occasionally. So, I'm playing yesterday and my son comes in and asks why are your frame rates so low? I hadn't noticed until he said something because they never vary much and I've gotten to where I don't even look at them much anymore. But now I'm getting like 30 FPS avg. and sometimes dropping into the upper 20's and never going above the 40's. I've tried loading saved games from way back, same low scores.  So I think, maybe somethings wrong with my graphics card and I start downloading several graphics card benchmarks and tests, and they run great, with scores just as expected with an I5 Cpu and a HD 7950. Now I'm stumped as to why Skyrim is running so slow. I didn't change anything. When I first loaded ENBoost and the Memory Patch I paid a lot of attention to my FPS because it was a new configuration. It never wavered much from what it was capped at (60fps), so I stopped noticing it after a while. Now I'm at a loss to explain or fix my suddenly crappy FPS numbers. Anyone got any ideas?
-
I notice you went for speed, while your girlfriend went for size.....and they always lie and tell us size doesn't matter. LOL All joking aside, so you are saying if you use the same rated RAM, four 4gb sticks are faster than two 8gb sticks? Interesting, I did not know this.
-
Just wanted to post my results. I started to try Neovalens patch, but after thinking about it, I went with the SSME - Skyrim Startup Memory Editor version from the Nexus since it didn't require altering any of the SKSE files. I've got a game with 361 mods, some of those are just textures, but still I'm running with 209 active esm/esps, and to get down to that number I used the Tes5edit merge script to merge 57 additional esps, otherwise I'd be over the limit of 255. I'm running ENBoost, SSME, and SweetFX thru RadeonPro, and what previously were way too many scripted mods to be stable for more than 20 to 30 minutes between CTD's. Once I added SSME (512/256 & ugrids 5) to the mix, I did the Vurts stress test and flew all over Skyrim like Superman until it get boring. Then I proceeded to play Skyrim with all kinds of Patrols, Bandit, Dragon, Animal and Monster spawns for a marathon 13 hours straight.....I did eat once but it was at my desk. It never even hickuped, stuttered or anything. I didn't know how to act. I no longer saved before going through every door or fast traveling. Finally I could take Touring Carriage rides with Vilja, Anduriel, and Hoth across Skyrim without a CTD along the way. I finally got tired, saved and quit. It's like a new game, totally amazing. It's really kind of hard to believe. I'd be skeptical if I hadn't just done it myself. I've never played ANY game for 13 straight hours without a problem, much less this heavily modded Skyrim. They have made Skyrim the most stable game I've ever played. Who ever thought you would EVER say something like that? That many mods and I played until my shoulders hurt. It's just unbelievable. I kept thinking maybe I should save and shut down and restart the game before something goes wrong, but it never did. I gave out, but the game never did. Amazing.....this is revolutionary. Thanks so much Sheson. You did fix Skyrim! You can have my first born, but I warn ya, he's already 31 years old. My System: Win 7/64 Ultimate i5 3570K 8GB RAM ASRock Z77 Extreme4 3072MB Radeon HD7950

This may explain why I had to give up this mod.....the heavy script load. I set up my game originally using Safety Load not because I was having problems with ILS, but as an ounce of prevention for any future problems. I probably have too many mods using scripts, but what the heck, I wanted to see if I could make them work. Once I started playing, I immediately noticed that going through doors took a really long time, longer than I've ever noticed on any of my other game setups.  As I put more hours into the game, I started getting more and more ILS when changing cells.....going into the Bannered Mare was especially difficult and prone to ILS. So, I unchecked Safety Load and tried the game again, and lo and behold changing cells is a LOT faster now, and while I still get the occasional ILS, I don't get nearly as many without Safety Load as I did with Safety Load. I wondered why a mod designed to reduce ILS would cause me more ILS, and I guess it's the scripts if swiftfoxmark2 is correct (although I'm not using an ENB, I use SweetFX instead). Regardless, I have faster transitions thru doors and gates without it, and less ILS without it. Your mileage may vary. I don't understand why, but my game is more responsive and less prone to crash without it.
-
Thanks so much, that's why I asked, what seems "logical" to me, might not be correct. So, once incorporated into the bashed patch and unchecked, they will continue to be incorporated into newer bashed patches as long as I leave the unchecked .esp files in my load order. Excellent. I really appreciate the support and quick answer.
-
Ok, I can't find the answer to this anywhere. I'm setting up my Skyrim installation with the STEP mods and some others I wanted to add. Of course I wanted to check things out midway during the installation, rather than wait till I had loaded all my mods. When I made my first bashed patch, Wrye Bash said that 7 small, simple, mods could be merged into the bashed patch. I let it merge them into the bashed patch and unchecked their .esp's. Ran my test and everything ran fine, even the mods that were merged into my bashed patch.  So, I start adding the rest of the mods that I wanted to add to my game, and here is where I am a loss as to what to do. I know how to rebuild the patch to create a new bashed patch for level list purposes. The part I'm not sure about is what exactly to do with the 7 mods that I unchecked and merged into the patch when I originally created it. I'm thinking that as long as those 7 .esp's are not checked, they will NOT be included into my new bashed patch. So, I am guessing that I need to recheck/re-enable those 7 .esp files, if I want them to be included in the new bashed patch. Am I correct? So, anytime I create a new bashed patch, I should re-enable any .esp's that Wrye Bash unchecked the previous run? That seems logical, but I'd like someone with some experience to confirm it for me. Thanks

Is it just me, but Tes5edit claims this fix has dozens and dozens of out of order errors? Not just a few, but a lot of them. Edit: Well, since no one has commented on this, I guess that having lots of out of order records is no big deal. I just assumed it would introduce stability issues into the game. I swear, it doesn't seem if I'll ever learn what errors are a problem, and what errors can be ignored.

SKYRIMLE RCRN AE -- HDR Lighting and Weather Enhancement
Bundy714 replied to Neovalen's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Any thoughts on how this comparison is going? Just curious as to which setup is looking and working the best? And actually, since I expect both look better than Vanilla, the deciding factor for me might be which set-up has the better weather, and runs the best on your PC. Enhanced lighting is great, but I really like immersive weather just as much, if not more. -
AMD makes great cards, mine is a Gigabyte with three fans, so it runs cool and has a lot of OC headroom. But AMD won't spend a dime having any of their people making any guides for optimizing the card with current games while Nvidia does take the time to do so. AMD gives you a great card out of the box with lots and lots of settings, but you are on your own when it comes to figuring out the best settings for each game.  That's my gripe, I have Nvidia envy when I see the effort Nvidia goes to help people set their cards up for best performance. Try and find an offical AMD guide for best settings and performance in Skyrim.....if you find one, let me know about it, please.

Mod Organizer Priority order vs. Mod Index order
Bundy714 replied to Bundy714's question in Mod Organizer Support
Thanks GSDFan, I appreciate your help. I think I should catch some sleep, haha. I am stressing over stuff that doesn't really even matter it seems. Logically, without any conflicts, priority shouldn't have to mirror the index order. I'll worry with priority when there is a conflict and the priority actually matters. Thanks again. I'm going to knock this thing out after some rest. And yeah, I know exactly what you mean about spending more time modding than playing....I am so guilty that I've never even finished the game. I can't seem to leave a stable game alone, I will mod it until until it's no longer stable. This time I'm determined to learn to use M.O. instead of NMM, and I will follow STEP, and once started, I will neither add, nor remove, any mods until the game is finished for once in my life. At least that's my plan. I swear to not look at new mods of the week until I finally finish the game, or they will tempt me. I am a mod addict, haha. -
ACCEPTED Consistent Older People (by Winterlove)
Bundy714 replied to Kelmych's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Hmmm, It appears that STEP 2.2.7 came out on September 28th, 2013, but the BOYD compatible edition came out later on 21 November 2013, and even though EssArrBee noticed it, but no one ever updated the guide notes. Was this just an omission, or was there a reason behind it? Should I install "Consistent Older People 18 All NPCs Loose Assets" like the guide says, or should I install the "Consistent Older People 18 All NPCs BOYD Compatible Loose Assets" version? -
Mod Organizer Priority order vs. Mod Index order
Bundy714 replied to Bundy714's question in Mod Organizer Support
Hmmmm, I appreciate the quick reply. I've only installed the first 7 fixes in the 2.D. Fixes section of STEP 2.2.7 (stopped at dual sheath redux, because of the more complicated .jar set-up) when I wanted to test if BOSS worked correctly. So, as of yet, I have no conflicts or overwrites to deal with when I hit the Triangle....no mod order problems because so far, no conflicts or overwrites. All the triangle shows is that I have a file in my overwrite folder (the cleaned Update.esm), but no load order problems. So, I guess I do not necessarily have to reorder my Priorities to match my Index order, but should I, or should I only concern myself with it IF there is a load order problem? Hard to believe I'm the only one that has questioned this, but I can't find any other info on this. I understand with the few fixes I've loaded that the priority really doesn't matter yet since there are no overwrites or conflicts....I'm just wondering if I should manually match the priority with the index as a "best practice" or just fool with it IF and WHEN I have a conflict? Otherwise leave it alone and not let it bother me? Hopefully I'm making sense. Eventually when I load more mods, I will encounter instances where scripts or records are in conflict and then the priority will matter, but until that time, should I just ignore the priority, or should I get in the habit of reorganizing it to match the index order....that's pretty much the question. -
Mod Organizer Priority order vs. Mod Index order
Bundy714 posted a question in Mod Organizer Support
Ok, I can't find the answer anywhere, so here goes. This is my first time using Mod Organizer. (it is really intimidating when you've been using NMM) I've got all the utilities and third party programs working. I started adding mods according to the order in STEP 2.2.7.   So, the left pane of M.O. has a Priority order, which is the order in which I loaded the mods. I understand it is used when there are conflicting overwrites, but I don't have any so far. After loading a few mods, I ran BOSS to make sure it was working. It worked fine, opened my browser, showed my recommended load order and it was reflected in the MOD INDEX order in the Right Pane of M.O. This is where I am a bit confused......while BOSS sorted my mods in the right pane (INDEX), my left pane (Priority) was not affected, it still has the mods listed in the order that I installed them. Am I supposed to manually sort the Priority to match the Index, or just ignore the discrepancy? I'm thinking the INDEX is the order things will be loaded when I run the game, but I don't know if I should manually sort the Priority or not, since BOSS only seems to alter the Index, not the Priority. Am I stressing over nothing, or what? Or is BOSS supposed to reorder both the Index and Priority and I don't have it set up right? -

SKYRIMLE RCRN AE -- HDR Lighting and Weather Enhancement
Bundy714 replied to Neovalen's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Thanks so much for the instructions Keith. I wanted to give this mod a try, but I had no idea how to get it to work with MO. With your detailed instructions I think I may try it out. Thanks again. P.S. Looking forward to your testing the use of the ENB Manager and Changer for your advanced user part of the instructions. That would be great, then I could try both RCRN and RealVision ENB and choose whichever one works best for me.
