  1. I have just begun the install for this. Am I okay to use the current version of the guide, which is from July of last year? https://wiki.step-project.com/User:Neovalen/Skyrim_Revisited I noticed there is a disclaimer that the guide has been frozen while a new one is being created. I'm about finished with the prepping the Skyrim install and will start installing mods soon.
  2. Ah well. Couldn't hurt to ask, I guess. If anyone would like to help, please let me know. Thanks.
  3. Well if I downloaded the mods myself then if someone could complete the install, that would be immensely helpful. I have no interest in distributing such a "SR Complete" install. It wouldn't leave my hard drive. I tried the STEP install last year, twice in fact, when I had a lot more time, and struggled mightily with it, and never got the game running properly. It's discouraging to be unable to play Skyrim in this wonderfully modded state due to time and knowledge constraints.
  4. Hey all, and merry Christmas and happy holidays to everyone! I posted the following in the man STEP forum but perhaps would have been better off posting it here. https://forum.step-project.com/showthread.php?tid=4453 I very much want to play a Skyrim Revisited build of the game. Sadly, I am really, really busy these days (full-time job, mentoring/volunteering, career development and activities, continuing education class, professional photography, and pretty serious level of classical/fingerstyle guitar practice). Add to that the fact that frankly a Skyrim Revisited install is beyond my ability to pull off. I know b/c I tried a STEP install and it about melted my brain. Lots of times spent on it (I had more time last year) and I still didn't get it right. So, I am posting here in the hopes that some kind member of this community can do such an install for me. Or assist to an extent that I can pull it off. Would it be possible to ship the hard drive I would install it on to someone else who knows how to install them, and pay them for their time to complete such an install, and would it be as simple as plugging the drive back into my computer and playing? Or if there is anyone in my area, to have them come over and install it? I do stress that I am happy to reimburse whoever can help me. Either in $ via Paypal, or an Amazon gift card, or whatever else. It's important to me that I reciprocate for what would be a very kind favor. The complexity of the install and time required to do so are at present insurmountable challenges for me. PS, Mothergoose729 (a STEP developer) had this to say about my request: "There is nothing special about skyrim files on one computer as compared to another. A person could complete the Skyrim revisted install on their pc, or use one they already did for themselves, and then package the mod files together and send them to you. You would drag and drop the files into your own skyrim folder, and it would be done. For someone who has already done the skyrim revisted procedure before, it would take only a few minutes of their time. To reduce the size of the folder, and avoid minor conflicts with your install, they would want to exclude the skyrim ini and skyrim prefs folders in the main install, the skyrim BSA and all DLCs BSAs, and any other folders that come standard in a skyrim installation, but include most of the contents of the data folder and any src files for SKSE or whatever else. For a huge install like skyrim revisted, the combination of all of those files would be somewhere in the neighborhood of 20gb. It would probably make sense for you to send them a 32gb flash drive in the mail, and have them mail you the flash drive back. If both of you have fast internet speeds and no caps, you could use a torrent or some file transfer service and transfer it over the internet. You can try messaging neovalen and asking him about it. He might be willing to help, and he is the person most likely to have a complete, and properly done, skyrim revisited install. Going through the threads on this forum you can find other people to approach as well." Many thanks for whoever can help! I really miss adventuring in the Skyrim world, but playing the vanilla game just doesn't hold much appeal for me, since I know how much better the modded version of the game is.
  5. Hey all, Wanted to follow up and see if having deleted the mods from my 2.2.4 build that are no longer active is going to break my saved games.
  6. crap--- wish I would have waited to remove the older mods (deleted them from within Wrye Bash Installers tab) until after I posted. I didn't follow the above advice to wait 12 hours in an Inn and do those other steps. Hope I don't get CTDs trying to load a saved game.
  7. Thanks a lot tech! I made a few edits while you were replying: Just downloaded the Unoffiical Skyrim Patch 19-1-3-3c (I had 1a installed previously). Should I delete 1a and install 3c in its place? Also, how do I clean my saves- are there instructions someplace on the STEP site? Can anyone answer questions 3 and 8 above? Thanks a lot.
  8. Hey guys, Reviving this old thread. I never did fully update my STEP from 2.2.4 to 2.2.6- real life got in the way. Doing so now and have a few questions still (I grew rusty with all things STEP related after a few months away): 1) How do I determine what mods in STEP will need to be updated- will BOSS do that for me? 2) Which begs the question- do I need to update BOSS, or will it prompt me to do so? 3) Is SKYUI 4.1 recommended in the current STEP install? 4) I have been removing those mods that the STEP changelogs call for by choosing Delete in the Wrye Bash Installers tab. Is that okay? 5) Where in Wrye Bash do I reorder the mods that the STEP changelog calls for (i.e. "Install-Order change: Guard Dialogue Overhaul moved from Gameplay to Fixes, Ruins Clutter Improvement has been moved up in Section F due to the two authors recommending it being installed before Better Dynamic Snow, Distant Decal Fix moved up in Fixes to above Unofficial Skyrim Patch." ) 6) Are there any other best-practice steps I should be following here that I might be forgetting, for the smoothest possible update process? 7) Have there been any updates to essential Skyrim modding-related tools, like SKSE, Script Dragon, or any unofficial Skyrim patches, since July? -edit- Just downloaded the Unoffiical Skyrim Patch 19-1-3-3c (I had 1a installed previously). Should I delete 1a and install 3c in its place? 8) The installation instructions for both New Idles for Skyrim https://wiki.step-project.com/New_Idles_for_Skyrim and Maximum Skeleton https://wiki.step-project.com/Maximum_Skeleton are confusing to me. With Maximum Skeleton, I see the XPMS 1-81 NMM-BAIN Installer 26800-1-81 in Wrye Bash Installers, but am I not sure how to run it from there as per the instructions on the step-project page above. Thanks!
  9. Thanks for the answer
  10. So just to confirm-- it DOES require a new game start? I don't know if I have it in me to begin a new game, given that there's not a lot of free time in my life for gaming. Probably going to skip it sadly if a game restart is necessary.
  11. Hey folks, Is HR compatible with a STEP install? It looks like a great mod, so I'd like to try it. Though I wouldn't want to have to start a new game, in case that is what it requires. Thanks.
  12. OK thanks. Was worried that if I skipped 2.2.5 then I would miss notification about mods from 2.2.4 should I should remove/replace
  13. Been away from Skyrim for a few months, and updating my STEP install from 2.4 to 2.6 Would be best approach be to do the 2.5 install, then do the 2.6 over that, or can I just follow the 2.6 install instructions? Also, I am not sure which xpms maximum skeleton file I should be downloading from the Nexus site:    FULL RESOURCES v1-6  or    XPMS 1-81 NMM-BAIN Installer  (says it's recommended for NMM, but I am using Wrye Bash)
  14. I am able to hold two staves...one staff in each hand, by choosing LH or RH via. Mouse left or right button I the Favorties menu. So If dual staff wielding is enabled in the game, I would have thought that the hotkey mod would enable dual staff wielding as well.
  15. Thanks. Duel looks really good. Going to try that. I am assuming it is compatible with a STEP install?
  16. I'm finding the NPC enemy AI a bit well "dumb"...I get that say a mudcrab wouldn't have much tactical awareness, but too many bandits and other AI seem a bit stupid, like standing around when their comrades nearby have been killed, not taking cover during fights, and charging at me with little thought of self preservation, etc. I miss fighting NPCs that display varied levels of intelligence, like in say STALKER, where some smarter NPCs will make use of cover and display some level of self preservation. If there any STEP-friendly mods that accomplish this, I'd love to know about them. Thanks.
  17. Hey folks, This mod looks good, given that my level 40 character is finding it way too easy to become filthy rich from selling gear found in dungeon crawls. I have a STEP install, and will I be good to go to install the latest full version of this mod via Wrye Bash, runn BOSS to place it in the load order, rebuild my bash patch, and then go from there? (I would enable the mod and adjust the settings to my preference from within the SKYUI mod config manager) Thanks.
  18. Thanks for the info. Two other questions- 1) How can I assign 2 staffs to a hotkey? I was hoping for a "left" "right" and/or "dual" option but haven't seen any, and when I select 2 staffs and assign to a hotkey, I can only cycle between the two in a single hand 2) Is it possible to assign scrolls to a hotkey from within the MCM menu? I don't see scrolls listed anywhere in the inventory. Thanks.
  19. This mod looks great- thanks Pymous! Is there a verdict yet on how compatible this would be with STEP? I am interested in installing it, but am conservative about what I install outside of the standard STEP install. Thanks
  20. Sounds like a cool mod, and possibly not one that would introduce incompatibility issues. Does anyone know if it is STEP compatible? https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/35631/?
  21. I'd like to be able to equip up to 10 rings and maybe a few amulets. Not interested in wearing unlimited rings, since that's not realistic. Au suggestions for a good mod? I read on SkyrimNexus that some mods that enable this can be buggy. I am also looking for a good mod that allows for 1st person perspective when riding horses. Does anyone know of one? Thanks.
  22. OK. This happens as soon as I begin using the magic. I believe that I am running Burn Freeze Shock Effects, since it was in the STEP release.
  23. Thanks Kelmych One other question... Is it possible to edit existing hotkey choices from within MCM? From what I've seen, if I want to assign a new item to a hotkey, I have to delete the hotkey and start again. Because I have multiple items assigned to the hotkey, I'd prefer to be able to edit it and not have to redo it. Thanks.
