Advice wanted on the uncomment General section of the ini
peppergomez replied to peppergomez's question in Wrye Bash Support
Bump...this didn't work for me so I wasn't able to implement the STEP advice of: The following edits may be useful: Under "[General]", uncomment the following lines and add in applicable paths (preferably to separate drives or directory locations other than skyrim/) ;sOblivionMods=../Skyrim Mods;sBashModData=../Skyrim Mods/Bash Mod Data;sInstallersData=../Skyrim Mods/Bash Installers/Bash;sOblivionPath=G:/Steam/SteamApps/common/SkyrimDoes anyone have any suggestions? -
Right but even after activiating it in the Mods column, the 4th STEP instruction is either wrong or confusingly written: 4. Enter a name and finish. Well, I type "DSR" in the File Name: field and press Open (only other option is Cancel) and get "Select Binary: DSR. File Not Found. Check the file name and try again." Based on the STEP instructions, I am not sure how to solve this. Thanks. PS I would like to pass this feedback along to the STEP team in the hopes that they revise their DSR instructions to be accurate/clear. Should I post this request in another subforum?

First problem: All the downloads I've tried through MO from Nexus in the last 5 min. have failed. I have verified that I am signed in. "Requested Range Not Satisfiable (299) "is the error message. Second problem: Skyrim Procs appears and disappears seemingly without a reason. More details (a double post from the general section of these forums, but it might be a MO bug so I am posting here) I manually downloaded Duel Sheath Redux and placed it into the Mod Organizer Downloads folder. There's no Skyproc in the Data tab in MO. Note that MO wouldn't successfuly download Dual Sheath Redux when I chose the Download with Mod Manager option, so I downloaded DSR manually from NExus, then moved the RAR file into the MO Downloads folder. I didn't see Skyproc in the MO Data tab, so I installed DSR in MO, then looked again in the Data folder (and clicked Refresh). Still not there. Without seeing SkyProc, I cannot follow the instructions from STEP for DSR installation: Users: Since you must launch Dual Sheath Redux Patch through Mod Organizer in order for it to recognize your mods, add DSR Patch to the list of executables by doing the following: In the right pane, go to the Data tab. Locate the SkyProc Patchers directory and expand the Dual Sheath Redux Patch directory. Right-click the Dual Sheath Redux Patch.jar file and select Add as executable.Enter a name and finish.

Our posts crossed---weirdness still afoot (ie the STEP instructions don't seem correct) Edit...I have no idea what the deal is with this. Skyproc appeared yet again, and had the subfolders for DSR. I am following the STEP instructions, but when I do Enter a name and finish.I get "Select Binary: Dual Sheath Redux. File Not Found. Check the file name and try again."

Weird. So I did see the Skyproc Patchers show up in my Data>Data tab in MO, but it had nothing in it. I right clicked on it and chose Open and it opened my Windows Mod Organizer>mods folder. Then Skyproc Patchers no longer appears in MO. I am looking at the Dual Sheath Redux folder in Mod Organizer>Mods, and I see these folders: Interface, Meshes, Scripts, SkyProc Patches (which has a Dual Sheath Redux folder which has an RAR file with the same name), Dual Sheath Redux.esp and meta.ini. Edit...I have no idea what the deal is with this. Skyproc appeared yet again, and had the subfolders for DSR. I am following the STEP instructions, but when I do Enter a name and finish.I get "Select Binary: Dual Sheath Redux. File Not Found. Check the file name and try again." Not sure what to do.

Hey folks, It's just like I said in the title: There's no Skyproc in the Data tab in MO. Note that MO wouldn't successfuly download Dual Sheath Redux when I chose the Download with Mod Manager option, so I downloaded DSR manually from NExus, then moved the RAR file into the MO Downloads folder. Locate the SkyProc Patchers directory and expand the Dual Sheath Redux Patch directory. Right-click the Dual Sheath Redux Patch.jar file and select Add as executable.Enter a name and finish. Also, if DSR requires XP32 Maximum Skeleton, why is XP32 later in the STEP load order? I wonder if that matters. Can anyone help out? Thanks.

STEP related ENB and SKSE questions
peppergomez replied to peppergomez's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Thanks. I had already made those SKSE.ini settings as per STEP What I am wondering about is the fact that I did not follow these instructions b/c I don't undersand them: Repackage the Data folder into a new archive file (name it accordingly) Place this archive into MO downloads directory Install repacked archive via MO Restart MO; if SKSE is installed correctly, MO will detect it and show in the executables drop down. You should use 'SKSE' executable when launching Skyrim from MO from now on" -

Shouldn't STD have a green plus by the lighting bolt icon?
peppergomez posted a question in Mod Organizer Support
The order of mods I have in MO so far (from priority 0-7) is STD Dawnguard Dragonborn Hearthfires HRDLC1 ""2 ""3 Appropriately Attired Jarls I noticed that STD is lighting bolt red line, that the DLCS are lightning bold green plus & red line, and the HRDLC1-3 are lighting bolt green plus I would have thought that STD would be doing the overwriting, not being overwritten Curious as to what it should be. Thanks. -
No install or use instructions for Stable uGrids to Load
peppergomez replied to peppergomez's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Thanks. I made those changes in the Skyrim.ini that I opened in Mod Organizer. I notice though that the Skyrim.ini in Documents>My Games>Skyrim remains default, with none of those changes. It: [General]sLanguage=ENGLISHuExterior Cell Buffer=36 The Skyrim.ini as in Mod Organizer's Ini Files: [General] sLanguage = ENGLISH uExterior Cell Buffer = 64 uGridsToLoad= 7 fFlickeringLightDistance = 8192.0 sIntroSequence = So...should I update the Skyrim.ini in Documents>My Games to read the same? Which one does the game access? And I haven't found the Skyrim or SkyrimPrefs ini files in the main Skyrim game folder...are they in a subfoldeR? -
Gotta admit to being quite confused by these STEP instructions for SKSE: "This 'mod' requires a special install: Place *.exe and *.dll into <skyrim>/ (not the data directory!) Repackage skse*.zip: Extract Data Create a SKSE folder in the Data folder: <skyrim>DataSKSE Create the SKSE.ini file in the SKSE folder <skyrim>DataSKSEskse.ini and add the following to the INI file:[General] ClearInvalidRegistrations=1 Repackage the Data folder into a new archive file (name it accordingly) Place this archive into MO downloads directory Install repacked archive via MO Restart MO; if SKSE is installed correctly, MO will detect it and show in the executables drop down. You should use 'SKSE' executable when launching Skyrim from MO from now on" I made the mistake of using the SKSE installer and directed it to my Skryim folder and I can open the game just fine from the SKSE shortcut option within Mod Organizer. I went ahead thought and followed steps 1 and and the General ClearInvalidRegistrations instructions. The final steps with repackaging my entire(!) Skyrim Data folder into a .RAR file and placing it in the MO download directory...that doesn't make sense to me and I haven't done that. Does that mean there would be two copies of the Skyrim Data folder- one in the main Skyrim game folder and one as a .RAR file in the Mod Organzer Download d. Thirectory? Seems weird, so I am thinking I might have misunderstood. And like I said, MO is launching Skyrim just fine. And to be honest, I really don't understand those 4 steps...maybe somneone can explain them? Should I see "SKSE" appear anywhere on the main game intro screen? The only text I am seeing is ENB-related stuff. To test this, I loaded the game from the SKE_Loader in my Skyrim folder, and saw the same ENB related text on the main intro screen, no SKSE mention. 2nd question is re: ENB. I (prematurely, it seems, since I'm still on STEP 2B) installed True Vision ENB. I'm not sure if I should uninstall it at this point in the STEP set up. It seems like the instructions to install ENBoost https://wiki.step-project.com/ENBoost#Recommendations have disabled the effects of True Vision ENB in the game. (I'm thinking of these enblocal.ini adjustments: Set UsePatchSpeedhackWithoutGraphics=true NOTE: This disables deferred shader rendering ENB lighting effects dictated by enbseries.ini but allows the memory management and basic graphics tweaks contained within enblocal.ini'. Set UseDefferedRendering=false NOTE: This may grant a slight performance increase when not using deferred shader rendering.Find the section marked [MEMORY] and ...Change parameters according to your video card (choose the enblocal.ini corresponding to your video card).Set VideoMemorySizeMb= ('yes, this should be blank')Set AutodetectVideoMemorySize=true NOTE: This sets the proper VRAM allocation automaticallyFind the section marked [ENGINE] and ...Set ForceAnisotropicFiltering=false So I'm not sure what my best plan is at this point. I overwrote whatever files it called for (clutter, landscape, and effects folders in the Data folder) and added the other files (enbseries and SweetFX folders, various .fx and other files, the RevampedExteriorFog and Further Dark Dungeons for ENB esp files). Thing is, I plan to use this ENB version eventually, so deleting all these files right now seems kind of pointless/counterproductive. But some of the ENBoost settings I made above have now disabled the effects of True Vision ENB. Am I fine to undo some of these enblocal.ini settings, and if so, which can I undo? Thanks a lot.

No install or use instructions for Stable uGrids to Load

No install or use instructions for Stable uGrids to Load
peppergomez posted a question in General Skyrim LE Support
It might be very easy to do, but for those of us who want everything explained clearly, it would be nice to have some usage instructions/best practices for this. I assume the Data folder is just copied into the main Skyrim folder, so I did that and now I see the CellStabilizer.dll in the SKSE>Plugins folder. I tried opening it with Notepad to see if I could tweak cells from default 5 to 7 but the file doesn't appear to be readable by Notepad. Are saves just made in the in-game console? I thought that in-game console commands didn't carry over to new games or game sessions. Thanks for the advice. -
I'm not sure if I should be using Wrye Bash or Mod Organizer to download and install mods. The guide to Wrye Bash mentions using it (installing to the Bash Installers folder), but using Mod Organizer results in the mods going to the Mods folder in that folder. Also, I'm on Step 2B in the STEP guide (Utilities) and I am unsure if I am supposed to be running/using utilities such as Skyrim Performance Monior and Wrye Bash, or if I should just be installing them and using them when it is appropriate to do so (and I hope the STEP guide tells me when that is.) Thanks.

Advice wanted on the uncomment General section of the ini
peppergomez posted a question in Wrye Bash Support
Hey all I'd like a sanity check that I am doing the right thing here. I have uncommented the four lines in the General section of the Bash.ini. Because WB recommends not using the game directory, I have chosen to use the install location of my Wrye Bash folder, which is F:Wrye Bash. So I'd like to verify that I am writing the correct path in those four lines: sOblivionMods=../F:/Wrye BashsBashModData=../F:/Wrye Bash/Bash Mod DatasInstallersData=../F:/Wrye Bash/Bash Installers/BashsOblivionPath=F:/Steam Library/SteamApps/common/SkyrimI have created the folders and subfolder I mention above, and "Steam Library" is the folder name of F that I isntall my Steam games to. Thanks! STEP instructions: If no previous backup of bash.ini is available, copy and then rename "bash_default.ini" to "bash.ini," and place this alongside the former. The INI defines many useful things including where WB looks for installers. The following edits may be useful: Under "[General]", uncomment the following lines and add in applicable paths (preferably to separate drives or directory locations other than skyrim/) ;sOblivionMods=../Skyrim Mods;sBashModData=../Skyrim Mods/Bash Mod Data;sInstallersData=../Skyrim Mods/Bash Installers/Bash;sOblivionPath=G:/Steam/SteamApps/common/Skyrim -
"Warning: Plugin contains 57 deleted NavMeshes which can not be undeleted" I searched for this message on the forums but didn't find it. Can anyone help me out with understanding this message, and if there's a problem I need to fix? Thanks. I am following the STEP guide and now doing the TES5Edit processs (downloaded the 3.0.32 Experimental latest version on Nexus) I encounter variants of this message (different numbers of Navmeshes) when I follow the same process on Hearthfire and Dragonborn, too. But I guess TES5 did its job, since there are no more dirty edits appearing in the BOSS log when I run it again.

Constructive feedback for the STEP instructions-- if there's no reason for us to use this tool after completing the DDS Opt process, I think the STEP page should tell us so. One less thing to worry about.

No STD folder in Vanilla Uncompressed Textures

No worries. I did the entire process over from scratch, using just "STD" (great name, ha) as the folder name, and it all worked fine. Thanks. -
No STD folder in Vanilla Uncompressed Textures
peppergomez replied to peppergomez's question in DDSopt Support
Cant I just copy a version of the STD folder into the Vanilla Uncompressed Textures folder? It looks like each of the seven folder has the same contents in each STD folder that is in each of the seven folders.
