Hi guys Sorry if this has been asked before (which it has becasue i searched and didnt find the specific issue Im having). Im at section 4.4.6.23 of the SR:LE guide. Im following the instructions here: BOSS Masterlist Update Required: (Updating Guide) SkyFalls + SkyMills + DG + DB + FS + WT.esp AFTER SkyFalls + SkyMills Total edition.esp SkyFalls DB + FS Small Waterfalls.esp AFTER SkyFalls + SkyMills + DG + DB + FS + WT.esp When i do the first rule I think its ok and I get this (screen snip): However when I then do my best and follow the second rule I get the following: Ive tried moving SkyFalls DB + FS Small Waterfalls.esp above and below SkyFalls + SkyMills + DG + DB + FS + WT.esp and always get the error in red (bottom right of screen) in the snip above. Can anyone guide me what I should do or point out (in noob language preferably) what Ive done wrong. So far these rules have been very easy to create from the guide Many thanks

Mine is a gigabyte reference card. Cooler is inaudible during normal use and can barely be heard during gaming. I've not found anything to max the card out with yet tho so it's only hit 70c. I expect you want a card(s) for over clocking tho with coolers to cope. I did read somewhere tho that whilst the 970 can be over clocked to or past the clock speed of the 980 the number of cores the 970 has deactivated means it will not perform comparatively even oc'd. It seems this was part on nvidia strategy and hence the very good price of the 970.

By the way Aiyen, your SSAO ini section worked a treat. I really appreciate it. Is there a guide or instruction manual somewhere which explains what all the settings in enbseries.ini do? Whilst i can sometimes guess i have no idea what the ranges are that i could set variables to and whether higher or lower is better/worse performance/quality. Thanks

Well Im reporting back on the GTX 980. You would be surprised if i had anything bad to say - which I dont. For comparison I went from a GTX 670 2Gb to a GTX 980 4Gb. In battlefield 4, my 670 was giving 60-90 FPS depending on map and how much action there was. this was the same in flight in a helo or jet. Most settings were ultra but a few were high and AA was off. The 980 is delivering 110-150 for the same settings. infact if im honest i put a couple more settings from high to ultra and had post aa on medium too. So thats stupidly smooth. i now need a 120 Hz monitor to actually get the smooth play and aiming that folks like lvlcap and xfactor have. For skyrim, under helgen in the interior with SRLE taken to the point you install the Vividian ENB and ELFX but no further my 670 2Gb was delivering 45 fps. With SSAO off in the ENB i got 53. Also my GPU was ALWAYS at 99% use. With the GTX 980 and SSAO back on in the ENB i just cap at 60 FPS no matter what I do. It is worth noting that my GPU is sitting between 65% and 75% usage when in the middle of the fights in Helgen keep. Obviously there is some left in reserve before frames start going below 60. Ill report back how this is out doors etc once i progress a little more with SRLE build. Cheers

That is really kind of you Aiyen - thank you for taking the time. I REALLY like the Vividian ENB, its very atmospheric (alongside ELFX). however I also want to try our your one Skylight is it? I remember seeing it mentioned during the step build. how would you say Skylight and Vividian differ (you appear to contribute to them both). For now however Im going to compare your info above with what I already have to try and understand WHY this is a nicely reduced SSAO load. Cheers loads!

Hi there, i am trying to "lighten the load" a little of Vividian and Managaclub - you refered Nearox to a customisation guide. I have looked on every tab on your page at nexus, ive downloaded both vivid and vanilla enb's and gone through every directory looking for a guide or a txt file and ive come up blank. Can you please point me in the direction of the guide please? My thanks, **Edit** In an attempt to help myself, I (rather tediously) worked my way through the effect section of the enbseries.ini and turned off only 1 effect at a time, went back in game with fraps and some other HWInfo running on my second screen and checked the difference. The culprit is ambient occlusion. With that on my FPS goes from 59 to 49 and the juddering starts. I can have all the rest of the effects (that were set to true originally) still set to true and i go down to 58 fps and 60 a lot of the time. I scrolled down to the SSAO section in the enbseries.ini and was slightly overwhelmed with all the controls for SSAO and so am now seeking a little advice on what all those controls do? can I tone it down? Alternatively - when I ran STPE:EXTENDED i was happily running SSAO through Nvidia Inspector - set to performance and I ensured it was working as intended through taking screenshots before and after and plants, rocks, trees on the ground all got their "SSAO shadowing" applied nicely. Was only costing me 1-2 fps. Verts SFO took its toll though with SSAO on, but i still managed to balance it. What are medium or performance SSAO settings in your ENB please? Cheers again

Hi guys So I've reached stage 4.4.4.7 of SRLE install and i believe Ive followed it to the letter. Ive had no install problems and all the cleaning, optimizing and merging has gone without a hitch and my game is stable (as in its not crashing). The Viridian ENB is up and running and so is CoT, ELFX and Relighting Skrim (Neo's subsection of it anyhow). I'm running a single GTX 670 2Gb card and there are no other bottlenecks (CPU's sitting at 30-45% and Skyrim is entirely on SSD). I have 8 Gb ram. To test things i ran the intro, getting about 40-45 FPS down the hill into Helgen and no real issues during the dragon stuff. Same or more FPS. But indoors is behaving oddly. Or at least oddly to me, as I've never run an ENB before. Whilst its quite dark, i expected that with ELFX and an ENB - Im fine with it actually. But when after Ranulf (or whatever his name is) finds the key and you fight the 2 guards you can explore a bit. In the opposite direction to the plot is a short corridor leading to a big-ish room where there are beds and chests etc. That room performs pretty strangely. i get 49-53 FPS in there, but if I run sideways facing a wall with the torches on it (the wall with the beds) my FPS stays where it is but i seem to take these off micro-steps and the movement is anything but fluid. Its very off putting. If i run straight through the room i get the same effect but less so. My GPU is sitting at 98-99% load. CPU cores at 30-40% when this happens. If i turn off the ENB (still with ELFX etc running) i hit the 60 FPS ceiling and the sideways running is buttery smooth. Is this something I've done wrong in setting up my ENB? Are there a few things i can change in the ENB that will give me 10 FPS back so I can prove its just running sideways at 50 FPS that causes this effect? Anyone have any other thoughts? My thanks,

Would you believe I havent gotten around to actually installing my 980 yet? Im trying to get benchmark data in skyrim and BF4 before I do. But im struggling to get skyrim benchmarking because there seems to be something wrong when i fire up the enb indoors (inside helgen keep at the beginning). Anyhow Ill take that issue to the proper thread. Neo - any idea how much my GTX 670 2Gb should go for?

Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback

A silly question: no mention is made in SR:LE of what to do with ipresentinterval. Becasue I have followed the instructions exactly thus far i have the enb installed (and working because my fps went from 60 to 40) but im getting some seriously odd input lag. when i press to go forward there is a 0.5 second pause between pressing the key and movement beginning in skyrim. I can whizz the mouse around fine, just lag on pressing keys. What should i presentinterval be set to in the iniprefs given the ENB is active and is driving vsync as on. Having followed all instructions (i think) thus far my ipresentinterval was set to 1. (which is on I think). Should it be off in the ini been as the ENB is now doing that job? STEP Core seems to set it to 0 as part of running enb boost. Thanks -
Neo - your twin 670's were the reason I upgraded (though as above my decreasing perf in SRLE played a part) but it was a vram thing. I noted your twin 670's (and meant to ask you about micro-stutter from SLI which is a reason ive always avoided SLI) but also noted they both have 4Gb ram which is the clincher. I've always preferred a single card solution to avoid micro-stutter and wanted the 4Gb - so the 980 was the answer for me - its also reasonably cheap for a flagship card. Those with an 780Ti should stay put - its the same performance for less watts. I can certainly give you a feel for the shift in Skyrim from a single GTX 670 2Gb to a GTX 980 4Gb. Also like you I am a huge BF4 fan (play regularly in a clan) and I'll give you some maxed out settings BF4 performance too (but AA will be off).

Ive been running a single GTX 670 2Gb, messing with modding and a full step extended build with no ENB netted me 55 fps. A half done SR:LE with Vividian ENB on was netting me 35-40 FPS which I was a little sad about last week. So I gave in and ordered a Gigabyte reference GTX 980 4Gb. It arrived today, but i havent had time to install it yet. I hope this means I get some better frames as I could see SR:LE grinding my poor 670 into the dust when all the landscape, armour and texture mods go in. Ill let ya know. For those in England, I bought the 980 from Dabs for £460. Cheers

SR:LE Early Load Order....checking I have this nailed
Heliadhel replied to Heliadhel's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
Let me know what you did wrong when you fix it? I got really confused in Neo's instructions where when you are setting up the ENB it says that Enb Manager should be run as administrator. Problem is only exe files can be run as admin. I havent a clue how to run a .jar file as admin. How did you do this? -

SR:LE Early Load Order....checking I have this nailed
Heliadhel replied to Heliadhel's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
I get no errors (roadsign errors) from MO with it set out per my guess as to what Neo intended or if i do it how Step Core does it so i guess it dosnt matter but them im learning that the roadsign means nothing and both step and neo say to ignore its errors as their loadorders are checked and tested. As such ill wait for an SRLE expert to wade in on whether my effort to stick to what i believe are neo's principles are correct. Also - Darth - nice to know someone is where I am :) a problem shared.... meantime im just getting on with the fixes section as changing loadorder on the fly in left pane MO is one of its beautiful powers compared to NMM. -
Hi Neo/guys who know stuff In the SR:LE instructions give the load order below just after creating the optimized textures (please note having cleaned my ESM's during STEP:Core they were cleaned individually and turned into individual mods so at this point I just grouped them together where Neo says "cleaned Vanilla ESM". Question 1) is that approach OK? Drag and drop the mods into the order specified below: * Vanilla Optimized * Dawnguard * Dawnguard Optimized * Hearthfire * Hearthfire Optimized * Dragonborn * Dragonborn Optimized * HighResTexturePack01 * HRDLC1 Optimized * HighResTexturePack02 * HRDLC2 Optimized * HighResTexturePack03 * HRDLC3 Optimized * Cleaned Vanilla ESMs * Skyrim Script Extender Then a little further down we get to the unofficial patches and the load order is given thus: Vanilla OptimizedUnofficial Skyrim PatchDawnguardDawnguard OptimizedUnofficial Dawnguard PatchHearthFiresHearthfires OptimizedUnofficial Hearthfire PatchDragonbornDragonborn OptimizedUnofficial Dragonborn PatchHighResTexturePack01HRDLC1 OptimizedHighResTexturePack02HRDLC2 OptimizedHighResTexturePack03HRDLC3 OptimizedUnofficial High Resolution PatchQ2) No mention is made in the above load order of the cleaned ESMs or SKSE. As such I assumed that the idea is the cleaned ESM's and SKSE follow straight on from the above load order and in that order. Where i get curious is that STEP orders the cleaned Update.ESM right at the top and then the cleaned ESM's go between the official plugins and the unofficial patches. Now I know this aint STEP....so am I OK with doing different....is the following load order acceptable for SR:LE given my cleaned ESMs are individuals: Vanilla OptimizedUnofficial Skyrim PatchDawnguardDawnguard OptimizedUnofficial Dawnguard PatchHearthFiresHearthfires OptimizedUnofficial Hearthfire PatchDragonbornDragonborn OptimizedUnofficial Dragonborn PatchHighResTexturePack01HRDLC1 OptimizedHighResTexturePack02HRDLC2 OptimizedHighResTexturePack03HRDLC3 OptimizedUnofficial High Resolution PatchCleaned Update ESMCleaned Dawnguard ESMCleaned Hearthfires ESMCleaned Dragonborn ESMSKSE My thanks for any responses

**** SOLVED **** - whilst the shortcut was running as administrator the exe wasnt. I went to x64.exe and set it to run as admin in compatibility and then once it was created a shortcut from that. live and learn! I'm obviously doing something silly. Wonder if someone can point me in the right direction. I downloaded ddsopt last night in prep for SR:LE and neos guide links to the step ddsopt quick start guide.I got the new .ini and copied it in and worked my way through all the screen shots fir setting up the settings which give good results. No problem. What threw me is that these settings are not saving. If i go back into ddsopt none of the settings changes i made are there anymore. I've tried twice more and nothing us saving. What am i missing? Surely you don't input all by hose settings each time you open it?Yes I'm running ddsopt as administrator and it's installed in its own directory and skyrim is not on my OS drive.Cheers for any help

Yikes. Just reading your response made me sweat. I'll learn to use bums and boss that way I can get support if things go wrong. You obviously know what you are doing where as I only just built step core and extended so my conflict-fu is weak.

Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback
Heliadhel replied to Neovalen's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
Hi RedIrishLord Thanks for the reply. I realise the power of the profiles (that - and Gopher of course) was the reason I even heard of MO and its power. I guess I just wasnt sure how much of a ground up re-build SR:LE was and if extended was just too far down one path and I would end up having to basically start again anyhow. NP i will start with my extended profile copied across to a new SR:LE one and take it from there. Just been struggling with getting BUM working as it appears BOSS and BUM are required whereas I just spent 2 weeks learning loot and metafile ordering lol. All good I will take a look at your profile now, im curious as to what others such as yourself, Smile, etc use for perks (if anything) as i hit a bit of a wall when i was about embark on Morrowloot but Dreadflopp seemed to imply that the chap who looks after the SkyRe section hadnt been heard from for a while and SkyRe was what I was hoping to use his pack amongst other things for. I note in SR:LE there is no kind of "perk overhaul" like SkyRe (but i keep hearing about PerMa beta) - but I also note that there are a number of mods in there to make spawns more challenging and combat a little tougher which i want. Thanks :) Matt -
Well, Im not going to get a straighter answer than from the creator of SR:LE and Techangel for whom I have a load of respect from reading his millions of answers to folks querying STEP process. I guess I need to learn to use BOSS and BUM then too lol. Cheers for the answers guys Matt

Having just finished learning the ropes with successful installs of both Step:Core and Step:Extended from a clean vanilla install (HUGE thanks to the STEP team -amazing instructions) Ive come to rather like LooT. Ive turned my ever greedy eye to SR:LE and was just rubbing my OCD hands at getting to do more modding and more not-actually-playing-Skyrim and noticed that in all of the SR:LE instructions there is no mention of LooT. Is it ill advised to use loot rather than boss? or is it actually impossible to use Loot in SR:LE I understand loot and am happy reordering mods with meta rules etc. Can i not just interpret Neo's instructions and use loot and meta rules rather than boss and BUM? Thank you to ANYONE who sees this plea and responds Matt

Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback
Heliadhel replied to Neovalen's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
Hi guys, This is probably my first post (i cant remember) so please be kind if my questions have been asked previously. Given this is a 272 page thread, Ive only read the last 50 looking for answers. I have spent the last 2 weeks firstly installing and learning to use MO (previous limited experience was with NMM) and then working through exactly STEP:Core (game worked fine and super stable) and then STEP:Extended (lots more to learn - bashed patches, patches, DSR re-procer and FNIS stuff) but again, games works fine and stable). Resting on my laurels for about 45 seconds, i then started looking around at the STEP:PACKS and was slightly disappointed. Many seem to have been abandoned - Nearox/VEGA Extended! - this made me sad :( and I think I need more skills to pick and choose bits of the packs to make something I want. Which is of course when I stumbled upon this - what do I call this? - work of a lifetime by Neo? - called SR:LE. Having read the last 50 pages Im getting the sense of how live and alive this is and also hanker after the addition of something to address perks like others, but my question is this really: Having installed STEP: Core and Extended, but now want to follow the path of SR:LE and I now just starting again from scratch? Obviously i have a load of the mods SR:LE uses already downloaded and am now fairly familiar with MO, LooT, Reprocers and .jar thingys (lol im not THAT familiar) - is this going to take me another 2 weeks lol? Im here to learn, and I want most of all to be able to learn the skills of conflict resolution so I can go ahead and add my own stuff ontop and learn to fix things myself rather than having to ask Thanks for any responses Matt -
This guy on Nexus has done an awful lot of work and research on the topic of shadows and the best balance between detail and draw distance: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/7638/?tab=1&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fskyrim%2Fajax%2Fmoddescription%2F%3Fid%3D7638%26preview%3D&pUp=1 Ive used his tweaks today and i have to say Im impressed. It is worth pointing out that until I read all of his work (and the posts and his replies to them) on Nexus that I thought the detail of my shadows was directly linked to the shadowmap resolution and more importantly the shadowdrawdistance variable. What I didnt know was that FOV is another variable and increasing FOV decreases the detail of shadows but it does so only once, by halfing their detail, at a certain point for both your FOV and drawdistance setting. I proved this to myself today by standing by a tree, setting draw distance to 3000 to get nice detailed shadows and then increased FOV by increments of 5 from 70 until i saw the shadows go blocky at about 85. Anyhow have a read of his stuff. my setting are here if you are remotely interested. I run FOV 80 as 75(the vanilla default) makes me a little motion sick. Anisotropic Filtering, Forced on - problem with Rain?
Heliadhel posted a question in General Skyrim LE Support
Hi Guys Still working my way slowly through STEP Core but have backtracked to do a bit of testing following some reading on Anisotropic Filtering. I wanted to check that my AF x16 forced through Insepctor was working as intended and took myself some screens and then turned it off through Nvidia Inspector and proved to myself that it was working great (I did this test and it was because in a previous modding build i only half followed Step Core but in game i had blurry textures. The solution was to re-instate AF16x through the launcher as it was already on x16 in Inspector but wasnt working - i probably had a setting wrong in Inspector looking back) So anyhow looking for more understanding of what all the various shadow variables do in the iniprefs and ini led me a merry chase around the internet and to an interesting and well researched page on Nexus: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/7638/?tab=1&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fskyrim%2Fajax%2Fmoddescription%2F%3Fid%3D7638%26preview%3D&pUp=1 In the posts section (and recent too) is the following text by the author: there's one thing that I would like to adress: iMaxAnisotropy=0 You can set it to: iMaxAnisotropy=16 I am thinking that you disabled your vanila AF in favor of forced AF. Thing is, when this filter is forced, it breaks some of the effects in the game. Here you have two example videos from me, how vanilla nd forced AF affects in-game rain: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3epeaXqHgkw - Vanilla rain https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m4wvnOfwdAI - Modded rain Is STEP aware of this particular issue and if not can I safely have it forced on through Inspector and also through the game launcher to resolve this issue? thanks Matt
