I have a GTX 580 1.5GB at the moment too, and I'm getting by at 2560x1440. SMAA, no hardware AA, everything on Ultra, mix of 1024 and 2048 textures, a little DDSopt optimisation and making sure your system is not draining resources. Perhaps a little memory bandwidth overclock, ATTK, disabling Aero. I'm close to maxing out, but I manage. Almost upgraded to a 7970 3GB twice now, but the first time I would have to purchase two graphics cards, which was off putting (turned out to be a mistake to pass on that), the second time I had to decline the offer as the graphics card had no DVI-D Dual-link slots, even though it was top of the range of those series... I dsopted the HRDLC Packs and some official BSAs.Extracted every BSA into loose files. I use a mix of 1k and 2k, too. I am using ATTk. OCd the memory to 2050 Mhz. Have Win 8, so idk if there is any aero around anymore. Don't think so. So, i really do not know what to do anymore to eliminate all stuttering especially on wide outside areas. Stuttering is not bad at the moment, but on some places it's annoying, especially if you want to hunt something and turn around fast. If you have any other suggestions to optimize vram, please give it to me. I didnt dsopt any mod, yet, only did a test and there was no real vram decrease.

I have a gtx580 with 1.5 gb and have big problems because of stutter, when i go with too many 2048 texture mods, so i have to downgrade many mods to 1024 and i hate that. I think to max out everything with 2k Mods you would need a 2 GB Vram Card minimum, but even then i would be afraid of some stutter from time to time (even on 1920x1080). If you want to be sure i would suggest 3 GB or even 4 GB (its kinda futureproof too). My benchmarks btw from this week: https://forum.step-project.com/showthread.php?tid=1858 At some points i experienced medium stuttering and had to downgrade mods and shadows

Step 2.2.1 done but a few Conflicts
Momitja replied to Momitja's question in General Skyrim LE Support
A few screenshots after i finished the guide: FYI: It's with ENB Skyrealism Cinematic, Realistic Lightning Overhaul, SMAA, SSAO Quality (Nvidia) Wasn't able to find the most beautiful places yet, but it's a start. -
Okay, so in enbseries.ini: EnableProxyLibrary=true InitProxyFunctions=true ProxyLibrary=d3d9_smaa.dll ForceAnisotropicFiltering=false EnableEdgeAA=false EnableAmbientOcclusion=false In Skyrimprefs.ini: iMultiSample=0 bTransparencyMultisampling=0 iMaxAnisotropy=0 In nvidia inspector: Did i do everything right? And techangel, i read you use Skyrealism and RLO, so do I. But i think dungeons are not dark enough. Do you use anything else for darker dungeons / nights?

Step 2.2.1 done but a few Conflicts
Momitja replied to Momitja's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Thank you Farlo -
I thought SMAA is more blurry than EdgeAA. So what do you suggest? Disabling SSAO, EdgeAA and AF in the ENB settings and only forcing these features in the drivers? I use Skyrealism and RLO

Can someone tell me the optimal settings für nvidia inspector if i want to use: SkyRealism Cinematic ENB The ENB's Edge AA The ENB's AF 16x The ENB's Ambient Occlusion My current settings:

Got this from the comments on the mod site. What do you think about it? Is it worth playing with it? I wanted to share my ini file settings for the Skyrim Community Uncapper. This is the end result of several playthroughs and hundreds of hours of testing. This ini is designed to give you the best Skyrim experience possible. This ini works great when combined with other mods that improve the difficulty and gameplay experience, especially at higher levels, such as ASIS, High Level Enemies, Skyrim Redone, and Deadly Dragons.    More perk points. Gain multiple points at key levels: 10,20,30,40, etc. This makes reaching these milestones feel especially rewarding, motivating you to keep playing    Blacksmithing, alchemy, and enchanting no longer level your character. Crafting items to use in combat is its own reward.    Leveling curve is slowed, significantly extending your game.    Crafting skills cap out at 160. This was the magic number that allowed the player to progress past 100 (vanilla) but still not get too overpowered.    Significantly more carry weight. Mage characters no longer feel forced to invest into Stamina just to increase their carry weight. One or more followers to help you carry items is still highly recommended even with this additional carry weight.    Lockpicking levels up quickly, compared to the other skills. Lock Overhaul mod is highly recommended. ( https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/29979 ) Moderator note:  Added spoiler tags. ~Farlo

Step 2.2.1 done but a few Conflicts
Momitja replied to Momitja's question in General Skyrim LE Support
That depends on what they're conflicting with. I assume the BSEeffects.esp is conflicting with it's non-Dawnguard counterpart? Same thing with SMIM and it's German patch. As for the scripts, the Acquisitive Soul Gems and The Choice is Yours conflicts are normal, although I'm not seeing any conflicts with Enhanced Blood Textures, what are they overwriting? Yep, BSFeffects conflicts with DG Counterpart. That's ok?StaticMeshImprovementMod.esp conflicts with German Patch esp version. I think that's ok, too? Should i disable the main esp then?Enhanced Blood Textures overwrites Scripts from Brawl Bugs Patch - Ok? Not Ok?Choice is yours conflicts with unofficial Skyrim Patch , Thieves Guild Requirements and Non Essential Killable ChildrenAcquisitive Soul Gems clonficts with unofficial Skyrim PatchKillable Children conflicts with unofficial Skyrim Patch too -
Im done with the guide, did everything like it was written there. I have a few conflicts, see the screenshot, please. Are these conflicts a problem or normal? The Overwrite conflicts are fine, but idk if BSEeffects.esp, StaticMeshImprovement and the scripts conflicts are a problem? Edit: And here are my Benchmarks. I had only one VRAM Value in GPU-Z, so there is only one ram column in the screenshot:

@â—‹z929669 Well, it's really exhausting installing all the mods and stuff, i am doing this for a few days now, and it would be nice (a bonus) if the Guide "Notes" tells you the best configurations for the Gems... Like What Texture is best for what glow color. Or what a baseline would suggest, which textures and glows to choose for empty and which ones for full soul gems. Or, even if it's not important, it would be nice, if the notes just tell you that.

Optimizing textures to the same size
Momitja replied to Momitja's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Changed iShadowMapResolutionSecondary and iShadowMapResolution= from 4096 to 2048, saved about 50 MB VRAM, did 2 benchmarks. -
Optimizing textures to the same size
Momitja replied to Momitja's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Thank you, Kelmych. I tested it by myself yesterday. I optimized all mods i currently have like 100, and after all it could optimize 20 mods with textures. Then i did a benchmark for VRAM. There wasn't really a difference. So i just use the originals now. You can see my system specs in my sig, btw. Maybe this is interesting for other users who try to get the highest possible quality AND performance: After several benchmarks it seems like the biggest performance impact regarding VRAM comes from the official HRDLC Packs followed by the Mods from "2.F. Conflicting Graphics". So what i first did, was to optimize HRDLC1, 2 and 3 with the instructions of https://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:DDSopt_%26_Texture_Overhauls#tab=DDSopt_Optimization Everything was fine then until i installed the Conflicting Graphic Mods. I experienced some stutter, so I got the Hi-Res DLC Optimized Mod (https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/9080) and installed the "Hybrid (1024+2048)", loading after the optimized HRDLC1, 2 and 3. It saves around 80 mb vram. Now there is nearly no stutter but it's really running at the limit at around 1.500 MB vram (my GTX580 has 1.5 GB Vram). So maybe i have to change some of the Conflicting Graphics Mods from 2048 to 1024, but i don't really want to because even the difference is not huge, 2048 look really amazing regarding the details. I am testing and installing since 4 days now, following the actual STEP Guide, what a huge project! I don't want to know how much work it was to do this guide. Great Work! But after all, it's fun! -
I have a quick question about DSopt. Does it improve performance if i optimize dds files from the Mod "Skyrim HD" (or others) 2048 to resolution limit 2048 again? Edit: Would it be a good idea to just let Dsopt optimize all dds files in alle mod folders i have?
-
Yes. Should use it. Added. It only appears on the mod detail site (https://wiki.step-project.com/Skyrim_Flora_Overhaul) but not in the guide notes.Â
-
I did it 2 times with the new version and got blue sky.
-
Skyrim Flora Overhaul, there is a tree collision fix since Feb 14, do we need it? Should be clearified in the Guide. https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/141 Tree Collison Fix 1,094 unique downloads 1,255 downloads 95kb size drop the file into meshes

Thanks techangel! I will do that. But, i used this ini-file: https://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:DDSopt_%26_Texture_Overhauls/DDSoptINI Isn't it correct?
-
Yeah i get this blue background too at the beginning of a game after optimizing with DDSopt. But i didn't pay much attention to it yet.

So, why using MSAA anymore if SMAA is faster and does MSAA? Has MSAA without SMAA better Quality?
