  1. Also in regards to the aMidianBorn content addon STEP says to "Place this mod directly under the aMidianBorn Book of Silence mod in your load order" however STEP says nothing about having to choose rename at the prompt in order for it to become a mod of it's own rather than merge in to the aMidianBorn Book of Silence - Armors mod???
  2. Great thanks for the help, but I need more! Regarding AMidianBorn_Book_of_Silence. The Creatures pack of this mod STEP states This is the piece that conflicts (and should overwrite) Bellyaches Creatures. (Bellyaches Creatures mod was installed in the previous section 2.H) and indeed upon installing the Creatures pack in MO asks me wheather I want to merge, replace or rename. Which of these three do I choose to do? p.s when I choose the rename option it defaults at aMidianBorn Book of Silence - Armors instead of Creatures. Should I choose rename and name it aMidianBorn Book of Silence - Creatures? Or just choose merge or replace?? pps it seems each of the aMidianBorn packs wants to install themselves into the aMidianBorn Armors mod? Do I just click merge for them all or rename them in to seperate mods, appropriately named wit the respective pack?
  3. Ok but if I'm installing STEP extended, shouldn't I install the BOYD mod later in the guide? Regarding SRO, each of the three 7z archives installed themselves in to a seperate mod on the left pane of MO, is this ok or should I manually merge the three mode together inside the MO/Mods directory?
  4. Ok I just merged all 4 of them. Another question, is a CTD after 2.D fixes normal? LOOT says it's due to consistant older people requiring "bring out your dead" mod that comes later in the STEP guide. Another question, regarding static meshes improvement mod, STEP says to specifically download SMIM v1-72 main file and the SMIM Update to 1-73 from 1-72 optional file. Do I do this even though the mod has been updated to SMIM 1-74? Also regarding the Skyrim Realistic Overhaul mod that I downloaded from a torrent, in what order do I install these three 7z archives in? Also upon installing each z7 archive, do I name them the same mod, so that they install into a single mod on the left pane of MO and merge in to one another, becuase I remember last time I did STEP all three 7z archives installed themselves into a different mod on the left pane! Another question, ragarding the last mod of section 2.F. Conflicting Graphics; A Quality World Map STEP recommends the Hi-Res Quality World Map - Main Roads optional file and DO NOT install Clear Map Add-on. Does this mean I DO NOT download the main "Quality World Map Installer" file, and indeed ONLY download and install the optional file?
  5. SO once again I'm re-starting STEP and just reached the closed-face helmet mod which requires you to download 4 patches, but STEP guide does not say weather to merge, replace or rename when installing each of the 4 patches one after the other?? "Improved Closefaced Helmets --FULL SET-- V0_9""Improved Dawnguard helmets""Improved Closefaced Helmets -- Dragonborn Addon -- 0_9""improved imperial full face helmet - no cloth around the neck-"anyone know?
  6. Unoptimized operating system? Lots of I/O intensive crap running in the background? Overheating inside the case?
  7. Have you tried upgrading your mouse driver?
  8. Excellent thanks for the info, so I can add & remove texture mods without effecting STEP or the bashed patch, but what about knowing where to put the texture mod in the STEP load order? What about the mod "sexy villages/towns", would I be able to add that to STEP without re-bashing the patch and if so where in the load order would it go?
  9. Also, the guide mentions something about having to rebuild the bashed patch each time you change the plugin load order. Does this means if I deactivate a mod, say a texture mod, then I will have to re-LOOT and then re-build the bashed patch?
  10. Regarding the skyrim realistic overhaul torrent (SRO) comes in 3 folders, one folder is the main mod, another is 1.6 update and the third is dawnguard addon. When I install the first folder, I then install the 1.6 update which installs itself in to another mod in MO despite me naming it the same as the main folder expecting a "merge" prompt to appear, instead the 1.6 update installs itself as a separate mod to the main SRO folder. Is this normal or what?
  11. So how do we install these over a STEP core/extended installation?
  12. Yeah I see the conflicts tab and about 70% of my mods have conflicts. Is this normal or not?
  13. Ok that's a relief on the bashed patch file size front. One thing I notice is despite installing all the various high-res texture mods, even that huge one via torrent, some textures still look like vanilla. Also in MO does it matter what order the mods in the left pane are in; for example sometime I sort by category or name, ect. Does this effect the plugin load order at all? Also what is the lightening bolt icon that is affixed to about 70% of the mods? What does the green/red +/- symbol mean? In the right-pane when I right click a mod and choose "information" most have a long list of conflicts. Is this normal? Can I uninstall/reinstall/add/change texture packs without having to rebuild the bashed patch? Does this include SMIM mod? Thanks for your help.
  14. I have completed STEP extended and I'm 80% certain that I have done everything correctly because LOOT is reporting no errors, and in-game everything is certainly better than vanilla, but that 20% doubt is irritating and I want to somehow verify that I have actually completed STEP extended 100%. How do I go about doing this? Also I read somewhere that the bashed patch for STEP extended should be 9kb and if it's significantly more then that indicates something went wrong. Mine is 19kb, which plants another element of doubt in my mind.
  15. This is just far too complex it is ridiculous. Attempting to make the necessary changes from core to extended is ridiculously complex and tedious involving careful partial disabling of certain mods, shitty ass meta data edits, even ******* load order before/after edits, then after 2+ hours of all that **** you read something about duel sheath redux required to be blah blah blah re-bashed patched or some sort of tedious crap and that everything you did before breaks everything else OMFG this is tortuous, especially with the guide not being at all clear & concise. When the **** is STEP going to be an auto installer? So much for buying a new gaming rig for Skyrim STEP, looks like I may just wait another year or so for STEP to become easier to use and it's not like I havn't even tried hard and I'm an experienced IT technitian, modder, gamer, tweaker, ect.
  16. Well I already installed Duel Sheath Redux and Fores New Idles when I was following Core guide, so looks like I only have to follow the first section Modified from STEP Core however in order to make the necessary changes to these mods how do I activate their FOMOD options when the mod has already been installed? Also would making changes to these mods require me to create a new bashed patch or what?
  17. Hey I was just about to start a thread on this before noticing this thread. I followed STEP Core and after several attempts managed to finally finish the guide, then when I proceeded to "install" STEP Extended from THIS page I was utterly confused as to why so many mods from STEP Core were being listed, both green tagged & NON-green tagged. It was like STEP Core all over again! DoubleYou do you mean that during the STEP Core guide, if you install the mods without the green tag, you are effectively installing STEP Extended there and then? If so, then I guess instead of installing Core, I actually installed Extended?!? Is this https://wiki.step-project.com/Pack:STEP:Extended page redundant? edit: I think I comprehend that Extended requires some changes to the existing Core mods by way of FOMOD however how do I initiate on-demand, the FOMOD within MO? AM I correct is presuming that the mod needs uninstalling and reinstalling to bring up the FOMOD options? If so doesn't this then cause breaking of LOOT/BOSS/Bashed patch stuff? Utterly confusing!!!
  18. Same here, spent 3 nights, total of about 15 hours following STEP core, twice I failed and re-started, third time lucky, but only to discover I need a brand new PC to cope with it all. I wish there was an automated install, too!
  19. Nope, but will try it out right now, thanks for the heads up!
  20. I want to disable the HRDLC to try and squeeze more performance from my rig, and maybe disable other performance intensive mods like Flora overhaul and realsitic overhaul, but I'm concerned that once I then re-LOOT the load order with MO it will break things such as the bashed-patch and the Duel Sheath Redux mods that had vague mentions within the STEP Core guide about how a change in mod order list will require these two mods to be re-patched or something along those lines?
  21. Hi. I plan on using my current 500g WD caviar black HDD as my Windows drive and use the new SSD for my secondary drive for storage (archives, music, downloads, games, ect). I understand how to back things up and re-point directories to get everything working with each other however I'm not sure if my STEP core/load order, ect will get broken during the process?
  22. Hi all, I've just spent the last 15 hours dilligently following & implementing STEP Core and I'm loving the visual and gameplay improvements, but what I'm not loving is the performance hit on my systems harddrive. The HDD LED on my chassis is blinking like crazy. A defragmentation helped a lot but there is still room for improvement and I would like to upgrade to an SSD, but need to know if there is any way I can backup and migrate all 15 hours of painstaking work so that I do not have to endure it once again so soon! STEP wiki and google returned nothing, so hence this topic!
