  1. First I have to thank the STEP developer team for their work. STEP is great. I just startet Skyrim (actually I didn't play more than a few minutes) and was looking for some detailed enhancement guides and was pointed to STEP. This is exactly what I wanted!. I appreciate all the efforts that have been taken to keep this project alive - kudos to all of You.A noob like me quickly got lost in all the guides, explanations and I made misstakes here and there but I'm eager to learn and will not play Skyrim untill STEP is working. It took me some time to install STEP core 2.2.8 and I was about to beginn with the extended version but then had to reinstall Skyrim and start over (my foult). Unfortunetelly I will have to stop gaming for a few weeks because there is some work in reallife for me to do.What troubles me now is my timing. I have learned much about STEP 2.2.8, worked some time with Mod Organiser 1.1.2, installed BOSS, tried SKSE 1.6. Now I have to take a break. Some frustrating moments I had untill now were when I discovered some dependancies like: I could use Skyrim Memory Patch with STEP 2.2.8 but need to update to SKSE 1.7 which is not recommended yet, I needed a Requiem Dawnguard patch which is currently hiden due to updates, learned to use Mod Organiser 1.1.2. but reading that 1.1.6 will be released soon. Finally discovering STEP 2.2.9 is coming and it will use LOOT not BOSS.Actually this is not a problem, I like to see everything is developing and geting optimized, but just think it's not a good point for me to start using step just before a new release.I feel like I will have to relearn and reinstall a lot of things and loose more time. What do You think?Would it be better to wait a few days/weeks/months untill• STEP 2.2.9 is finished• Mod Organizer 1.1.6 is STEP approved• SKSE 1.7 alpha gets a STEP approved status so I can safely use Shesons Skyrim Memory PatchI don't know how long it will take until this status is reached or if an optimal starting point will ever be reached – when all patches/utilities/extenders have a similiar developement level.Or is getting into STEP more like "jumping into a raging torrent and getting used to swim with the currents" then "making my first swimming attempts in a wading pool".If I should wait – how long will it take – I don't need a binding, official statement, but it would be great to hear one ;-)Thanks.
  2. I'm about installing Requiem with STEP extended and collecting all mods & patches required. Unfortunatelly the Requiem - Dragonborn patch is hidden on Nexus because of: First I thought that this status would remain for just a few hours and I have just chosen the wrong time for the download. Now it's the third hidden-day and I wonder how long it might take for the new patch to come out, if there are issues with the current - hidden - patch? Maybe someone could put his one for download, please. I'm hanging in midd-air and would like to finish Requiem set up, maybe someone could help. I could mail Azirok, but I guess he's too busy to answer my mail. UPDATE: Just found this one on nexus forums: Guess I have to be patient untill tommorow.
  3. Thank You EssArrBee, I never though that the installation part would take so long. But yeah, I got everything installed and running late in the night. Diverse Priests mod is causing me some trouble with the STEP patch but I can fix it when I take a closer look at the additional .esp later. After every game sessions I have some Overwrite .tri files from the race AND from SKS. The .tri files should be deleted, but the SKS files? Should I create a mod file from them?
  4. So al least I got this one right. But thanks for clarification. Still can't find a COREextended guide or something like this.
  5. Sorry to pop-up in this thread, but my question is topic related and probably to stupid to waste a thread on. To my defence I also have to say that I have searched a lot and have not found the answer… yet. So I'm about to get STEP working and currently install the core mods. For me core mods are those marked green in the guide. After this I will download the core patch, sort loadorder with BOSS, clean some files with Tes5Edit, create a Bashed File with Wrye and at this point I have STEPcore in ModOrganizer. Then I could duplicate the STEPcore settings and for example use it for a Requiem setting (adding and substracting mods etc.). What I don't understand is: STEPcore is only reached when ALL green marked mods from the guide are installed and working? Is it still STEPcore if I use one or tho additional mods from the list (like Footprints or Vibrant Auroras)? Is it still STEPcore if I don't install one or two of the green marked mods? And what is STEPExtended? Its an complete expansion pack, but I have not found a list with any guide or mod list? And just one more: The guide shows all mods in theme-groups, in this groups they are in alphabetic order. I install them in this order and they get the priority in ModOrganizer as they are listed in the guide. So they are not really in a logical load order in the left ModOrganizer window. Will this change if I run BOSS in the end? I'm a noob when it comes to moding and installing, so please understand my confusion and be forgiving. Thanks
  6. OK, just thought all mods marked green in the STEP 2 installation list are "essential" for the STEP setup, those not marked were "optional" to me, guess I have missunderstood something.
  7. Now I'm done with the 1. STEP and installing the recommended core mods. One of the first tools is Optimizer Textures. Do I have to use it on my DDSopt optimized textures? Wonder how often textures can be optimized...
  8. OK. That helped much. But just one more question: The save is still missing the three esp files. The warning ist the same as in this screenshot. Should I just ignore it, play and resave? Thanks. Update: Loaded the save, played for some minutes, saved and closed Skyrim. When I start MO again the new save has no missing esp.
  9. Than You for Your fast reply. So it's disable the HRTP.bsa in archives (A.3) but leave the HRTP.esp enabled in plugins, like in my first screenshot. Right?
  10. Hallo STEPforum, this is my first post in the STEP forums so let me introduce myself: just call me BUBISHI, this has something to do with my other hobby - who can guess? After I have bought a new PC one year ago I wanted to continue my somehow bad experiance with Skyrim on PS3. But someone convinced me to give moded Morrowind a try and I got in love with this beautifull game. I used MSGO and added lots of mods later manually, but I never got the deep understanding of how all the small gears work together - I learned to use Wrye Mash, TEStool etc, but allways kept to written instructions. I also never tried to create mods myself. Now it's time for me start Skyrim, and a user in the Bethesda forums suggested STEP. I wanted to stert with a optimazed, fully patched and RP-moded Skyrim and think STEP is a great tool for me. Now as I'm not an native speaker and the STEP guides are fairly comprehensive I find it hard to get through it. Here my problem with DDSopt: I have completed all the steps to optimize the Vanilla Textures and have placed the zipped files in the ModOrganizer directory. Then I have manually installed the archives from ModOptimizer. They appear in the left pannel as installed mods. Now the STEP instruction says: I should uncheck the last three checked files in my plug ins window, right? If YES it should be like this. But now if I try to start the game with my only test save I get a warrning missing mods text message, the errors can be seen in ModOrganizer iif i inspect the save. The save misses the three deactivated esp. I must have done something wrong and need advice here. I have also made screenshots of the Data in ModOrganizer and I see the optimized replacers. Here also a look into the Archives pannel. Do I have to uncheck files here? I have also read that I should delete the replaced files from my games/Skyrim/Data folder. This seems strange as I always though ModOrganizer never needs to make changes in the Data folder. If I should delete/replace files in this folder, could someone confirm that and point my to those files, please? I belive I'm not the first with this problems, but reading the other topics and guides did not help me much. Thank You for reading about my problems, maybe You can help me.
