  1. I'm guessing it's related to Complete Crafting Overhaul in some way (if not entirely).
  2. When you create a new profile it will copy all of your current mods over as well as your INI files/tweaks. It's an exact copy. This is done by going into the Manage Profiles area, then click your current profile and click the Copy button and give it a new name (like Step Extended). So, once you create a new profile just add mods to that profile and play with that profile. Word of note, when you add mods to any profile it adds them to all profiles. Meaning, if you create a new profile called Step Extended and then add a new mod to that profile, it also adds it to your Step Core profile. However, by checking it in your Step Extended profile and leaving it unchecked in your Step Core profile then it is only active in the Extended profile. You'll see what I mean once you create a new profile and add mods and then switch back and forth. I mention this only because you DO NOT WANT to delete these extra unchecked mods from your Step Core profile. Because it will delete them from all profiles. Disclaimer: this was the behavior I experienced with 1.2.4 version of MO. Not sure if he's changed it for 1.2.9.
  3. When you run an executable through MO, make sure to check along your taskbar to verify nothing new popped up. Because the behavior you describe sounds like the program runs but that the window for it didn't pop up in front of the MO screen. Are you running MO maximized? If so, try running it with a smaller window frame so you can see if other programs are running behind it. You're problem may be related to something else entirely but I just wanted to make sure.
  4. The FCO - GlowingOne.esp, AnimatedFanV2.esp and the ADAM ones have new instructions for how to install them: See here for ADAM: https://wiki.step-project.com/User:Essarrbee/FalloutNewVegas#ADAM_-_A_Definitive_Armor_Mod See here for FCO: https://wiki.step-project.com/User:Essarrbee/FalloutNewVegas#Fallout_Character_Overhaul See here for AnimatedFan: https://wiki.step-project.com/User:Essarrbee/FalloutNewVegas#Animated_Fan 357retex.espsingleshot_retex.espThose are both supposed to be moved to the Optional ESP's list (so that they aren't used). I don't recognize any of the others.
  5. Ok, sounds good. I think you'll have a much better experience installing STEP Core. Then later, once you've got the handle of how the mods are interacting with each other, you should definitely try out Skyrim Revisited. It doesn't look like 2.2.9 includes Climates of Tamriel. However, with every install I've ever done for Skyrim (including STEP) I've always installed Climates of Tamriel afterwards. Should be fairly straight forward on the install. I'm sure there are plenty of people that have installed ENB's after the initial STEP install. Check out the ENB Support forum here on these forums. I was using RealVision for quite some time. I don't use any ENB's nowadays. Just the ENBoost. That's also a very straight forward process. Regarding #5 above (I just reread it and understand what you're trying to do now): It sounds like you're trying to use the STEP Core method and then installing stuff (like Vividian) using Neovalen's guide. In that case, I don't think you'll need to follow the 'mod merge' section. Those instructions assume you've installed the Wearable Lanterns mod. STEP Core doesn't include that mod so you would have issues.
  6. 1) For any STEP installation, the answer is NO. For Neovalen's Skyrim Revisited: Legendary Edition, the answer is YES. Doesn't matter how old it is, it still works just fine. 2) ENBoost is built into any later release of ENB so the 0.254 version is just fine. You don't need ENBoost ON TOP of the regular ENB. 3) Again, you're referring to Skyrim Revisited (different from STEP). DDSopt is useful anywhere it tells you to use it for that guide. It's not used in the STEP install at least for 2.2.8. For 2.2.9 I believe they are using it to optimize the skyrim files; I can't remember. 5) If you use Vividian you'll want to use the 'mod merge' instructions. Any other ENB that you use in place of Vividian, you won't need to use the mod merge instructions. Those are specific to Vividian. However, Neovalen's guide is setup for Vividian. Replace mods at your own risk. 6) STEP 2.2.8 does not have any BUM rules in place. You're looking at Neovalen's Skyrim Revisited I'm assuming. DO NOT USE LOOT FOR SKYRIM REVISITED. Use BOSSBUM. STEP 2.2.8 also uses BOSS but does not use BUM. STEP 2.2.9 (which will be release soon) uses LOOT. 7)I'm not sure how I can say this any other way: STEP Core is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT from the 'Legendary Edition' you're referring to. You're getting them mixed up. 8)Just leave it at whatever it's defaulted to. 9) Using the Core install and then installing those mods after you've installed Core 'should' be fine. Finally, yes, you should do the STEP Core install but wait until 2.2.9 comes out (should be within a week or so from what I hear). STEP Core/Extended - a stable and strenuously tested setup of Skyrim that is officially supported here on the STEP Community Forums. - should remain in it's officially supported state for many months (2.2.8 has been out for 5 or so MONTHS without any major change). Recommended for beginners to modding Skyrim. Skyrim Revisited: Legendary Edition - not related to STEP in any way except that it has a similar methodology in installation guidelines. - changes FREQUENTLY. From day to day even. Is only supported by Neovalen (who does an excellent job). Is constantly worked on and tweaked. Again, on a day to day basis. Only recommended for advanced users.
  7. I imagine this is possible to take a full install of everything you would need and transfer it to a new computer. However, I can see some problems. You are correct that the downloads folder in MO is where all of the downloaded zipped files from the Nexus go. That folder can get quite large because of the amount of files needed for STEP. Here's what I would do. On the new computer, install Steam according to the guide, install Skyrim according to the guide, install MO inside the Skyrim directory, copy your MO/downloads folder to the new machine's MO directory overwriting the new installs MO downloads directory. Then go through a fresh install of everything, using the already downloaded files. This way you don't have to download them AGAIN. I would advise against just copying the Skyrim folder from the old computer to the new. I'm just not sure what complications would arise from doing that. Because you're talking about moving not only Skyrim but also Wrye Bash, DDSopt, TES5Edit, etc. Although I'm sure there are experts with more knowledge that I here that could give you advice if that's the way you want to go. I'm not entirely sure why Neovalen has included the install of the Creation Kit in his guide. From what I can tell it's not used at all. However, that doesn't mean that it won't be used in the future.
  8. The STEP install and the 'Legendary' install are two entirely different approaches to modding Skyrim. By that I mean that you should not be doing BOTH. The STEP installation is the official STEP community way of modding Skyrim safely and with stability. The 'Legendary' edition that you are referring to is a custom mod installation procedure that has been created by Neovalen (who I believe is a staff member of STEP; not sure). So, I just want to be clear that you should not be installing STEP Core and then installing the Skryim Revisited stuff. They are different approaches. Use one or the other. So, for the Skryim Revisited: Legendary Edition installation I think you will still want to use BOSSBUM until Neovalen officially starts using LOOT. This is because he has a lot of custom Conflict Resolution stuff that needs to be taken into account that I don't think LOOT can properly account for at this time. He uses quite a few custom user rules for BOSS which is where BUM comes into play. In my personal opinion, a brand new beginner to the whole modding scene with Skyrim should start with the STEP Core installation. It is simple to use and understand and there are fewer moving parts. LOOT is easy to use, no manual conflict resolution, etc.
  9. If I could give one piece of advice before doing anything else: 1) Get rid of the Nexus Mod Manager. Start using Mod Organizer just like the guide instructs. I know that people like Gopher have videos on how to use Nexus Mod Manager and how to install and setup. And it is a pretty easy tool to use. However, Mod Organizer is the tool that the STEP group is going with and supporting. And more importantly, IT IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING IN HOW EASY IT IS TO MANAGE MODS! So, my advice, is as follows: (disclaimer: I don't have nearly the experience most of the others on this forum have so you may want to wait to hear from them first) 1) Start from scratch by uninstalling everything including Skyrim. Including uninstalling the Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini in your Documents folder 2) Uninstall Nexus Mod Manager 3) Start going through the 2.2.8 guide (which will have you install Mod Organizer) a) I personally would start using the 2.2.9 guide as it's nearly ready to be released from what I understand. However, use at your own risk since it is in a state of flux until release day. 4) Your system looks good and so you THINK you'll be able to use all the High Quality versions of all the mods. However, throwing an ENB into the mix will have a significant performance impact. I would start with Baseline stuff and then add on from there. a) And that's the beauty of Mod Organizer. It's incredibly easy to get through the STEP install, test your setup, decide you want to get Higher Quality versions, go download them, and install over your existing versions. With all this said, I want to say again that you should wait for someone with more knowledge to come along (or a Staff member) to answer your questions. I've been playing Skyrim for years now but only just got into the STEP community within the last 3 to 4 months or so.
  10. Yeah, in both playthroughs I've not seen him in Novac either. Although in this 2nd playthrough I haven't really explored a lot in Novac yet. I'll check around when I get home. Thanks for the tips guys.
  11. I know I can use the 'player.placeatme' command to have Victor come to where I am. However, is there a command to move my character to where Victor currently is?
  12. I always start at the default location in Goodsprings right outside Doc Mitchell's house. In the vanilla game, Victor is strolling by Doc's house when you go outside and that's generally where you meet him. But both times now I've never seen him. Never paid too much attention to it because I just thought I'd meet up with him somewhere along the line. I may have to start a new game and troubleshoot it through to see what's going on.
  13. Re: Victor the robot So, this is my second playthrough with this guide and both times I've never once seen Victor in Goodsprings. I had read somewhere that he patrols up and down the road between Goodsprings and The Strip but I've never seen him. Is this because of a mod or something? Perhaps Alternate Start has messed with his file somehow? Each time I use Alternate Start I still have it start me in Goodsprings. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced not seeing Victor at all. Thanks.
  14. Hey folks, I went through the latest build just a week or so ago and everything is running great (again). Been playing on Hard Hardcore and dying quite a few times of course. Because of that I'm getting a lot of death cams (meaning when I die the camera points at me and laughs and laughs and laughs). My problem is that these death cams take forever to go to the load screen to load up my last save. By 'forever' I mean it's a good 20 or 30 seconds before it cuts to loading my last save. Is there a tweak or setting or mod that has made it this way? I seem to remember them being much shorter on my last playthrough of the pack. Thanks for any help.
  15. Any answer to this?: I just went through the entire installation of the guide again. Everything was pretty good with at least one exception I have a question about. After installing ADAM it gives me 2 esp files: ADAM Complete - Project Nevada Patch.esp and ADAM Complete.esp When running BOSS it says that it doesn't recognize these 2 esps and so places them at the very end of my load order. I couldn't find anywhere that mentioned BUM rules for these. Am I missing something? Or is this the intended result? Thanks.

  17. By hovering over the file in the Downloads pane in the right the pop-up text will tell you what mod it belongs to.
  18. Right-click on any mod in the left pane select 'All Mods' then select 'Check all for updates'. It will apply a filter to any mod that it finds has an update. (I'm using 1.2.5)
  19. 1) I've not experienced that behavior. Whenever I copy a profile and create a new one from it it looks identical in every way. 2) You can right-click on the mod (in the left pane of MO) go to Information and then you should see a Nexus tab in which you can put in the Nexus ID as well as version number. 3) You can use the manual install button in the top left corner to manually install the zipped mod that you downloaded from any site.
  20. I'm pretty sure this doesn't answer the OP's original problem. But I just thought I'd toss this out there since the topic is about sorting and finding mods and grouping types of mods together I like to create empty 'mods' within MO to separate certain sections of the mod list. Using STEP as an example a section of my mod list on the left side of MO would look like this: [ ]-----Clutter & Miscellaneous----- [ ] The 418th Step [ ] Better Bones [v] Better Shadowmarks [ ] Dark Brotherhood Tenets Restored [v] Designs of the Nords [v] Detailed Rugs ... ... [v] Sweet Mother [ ]-----Sound----- [v] Better Animal Footsteps [v] Better Horse Pain Sounds ... ... [v] Ultra Realistic Crossbow Shoot Sounds [ ]-----Gameplay----- [v] Auto Unequip Ammo ... ... The -----XXXXXXX----- folders are all just empty folders that I created inside the .../Mod Organizer/mods folder By doing this, whenever I have a new mod that I want to install (like Immersive Armors) I'll just install the mod, then drag it up to the relevant section (like -----Armors-----) This breaking up into sections helps my brain know where to put certain types of mods so when scrolling through hundreds of mods I can just look for sections. The great thing is that all of the STEP and Pack guides have these section names already and are broken up this way. I do this same process when installing SR:LE and Fear and Loathing (for New Vegas). It's not always perfect and sometimes MO yells at me and tells me that there is a potential load order issue. But for the most part things work great this way.
  21. Correct. https://wiki.step-project.com/User:Neovalen/Skyrim_Revisited_-_Legendary_Edition
  22. Don't know if this matters now since you're adding new mods to the pack. But back when I installed the pack (around June 1 I think) I used LOOT exclusively and haven't had any issues related to load order. I have at least 30 hours of gameplay on that character as well. Just thought I'd toss that out there. I realize you're adding mods now that LOOT may not sort properly.
  23. Male; Actually, could be female. Let me check your suggestion. Update: Well, I feel silly. The XP32 Maximum Skeleton mod was installed but I never activated it in MO. It's working fine now.
  24. No, male character. I think it might have to do with rerunning SUM after some changes I made. I'm researching now.
  25. Hey folks wondering if this would be an easy fix. I'm having a problem when looting a specific item. I killed a vampire thrall and am able to loot everything off of him except for the Novice Robe of Alteration. 0010D669 As soon as I loot it I CTD. Any ideas?
