GUIDE W3R: The Wild Hunt Revisited (Witcher 3)
Vaportrails replied to Neovalen's topic in Unsupported Game Guides
So, went through the guide yesterday, no problems, played a bit through the opening prologue with no problems. Now I'm getting the following error when running (happens during script compilation): This morning I applied the changes that Neovalen made last night with the Consistency Patch (the changes to Primer and FriendlyHUD). Also, this morning a 2.9GB update arrived in the form of official patch 1.22. So, not sure whether it was the patch that messed stuff up (that's my guess), or if I did something wrong with the Consistency Patch stuff. Anyone else experiencing this problem? -
GUIDE W3R: The Wild Hunt Revisited (Witcher 3)
Vaportrails replied to Neovalen's topic in Unsupported Game Guides
I also had this problem. It's due to the fact that FriendlyHUD and Immersive CAM are in a state of disparity at the moment. Looking at the posts on Immersive Cam the mod author says this: Solution might be to get the main 2.5.3 version of Immersive Cam and attempt the merges yourself or wait a few days for things to get ironed out. -

Hey guys, are there any updated instructions for ADAM? When I download the ADAM All-in-one v4.1.1.7z from the Copy website and then run the install all options are grayed out. But the instructions say to check things as you're going through. Thanks. --Edit Nevermind. Just now saw the last page in which someone has linked to a fix. Not sure why that didn't come up when I searched the forum for 'ADAM'. -

Hey guys, I'm attempting to run the SUM.jar through MO and when I click Run MO fades and locks like something's going to run and then it unlocks and goes back to normal and SUM never loads. I have the latest version of java and this actually worked just fine a week ago. Any help's appreciated. I'm seeing this in the logs, any ideas?: Internal exceptions (2 events):Event: 0.031 Thread 0x06b7b800 Exception <a 'java/lang/NoSuchMethodError': Method sun.misc.Unsafe.defineClass(Ljava/lang/String;[bII)Ljava/lang/Class; name or signature does not match> (0x08e0b6c8) thrown at [C:\re\workspace\8-2-build-windows-i586-cygwin\jdk8u45\3457\hotspot\src\share\v£ ˜gRŸ?Event: 0.031 Thread 0x06b7b800 Exception <a 'java/lang/NoSuchMethodError': Method sun.misc.Unsafe.prefetchRead(Ljava/lang/Object;J)V name or signature does not match> (0x08e0b948) thrown at [C:\re\workspace\8-2-build-windows-i586-cygwin\jdk8u45\3457\hotspot\src\share\vm\prims\jni.cpp, l -

K, let's pretend I gave you some specs for an average computer. I just want to know, what is the first thing you would disable if FPS was a factor for you? -

Hey, I just got done with the guide. Followed to the letter naturally, and it looks great. However, it appears my system can't handle it. Getting low fps and movement lag even while just in the first dungeon just after character creation. I suspect it has to do with running an ENB. Is there something I can disable and not have to reconfigure anything? Thanks. -

Quick question: NMC's textures are in a state of 'flux' for the Medium pack. Looks like he's removed the Patch 2- Ceiling black holes fix and Clock retexture. and Red_Wood_And_Burnt_Fence_Clash_Fix optional files and is repackaging them into all-in-one patches. He's already finished the update patch for the Large pack but has not quite released the Medium pack update patch. I've installed the Medium pack but obviously haven't been able to install the Patch 2- Ceiling black holes fix and Clock retexture. and Red_Wood_And_Burnt_Fence_Clash_Fix optional files . If I just skip over that part and then come back later after he's released the medium patches, will that screw up anything? For instance, is there anything in those 2 files that is getting overwritten by Poco Bueno, or any other subsequent texture packs? -

Totally agree with it not being mandatory. And I also see the benefit from an organizational standpoint for individual users on their computers. Having stuff all in one spot is a good idea. However, my biggest concern with stuff like this is New Users to the guides. Everywhere else on this site says to put the MO install into the FNV folder (or the Skyrim folder, or FO3...etc). The Mod Organizer video tutorial says to put it into the game's folder within Steam. If you then in this new Fallout guide say 'Well, we're going to put the MO install files into a new folder called C:\Games' that just adds unnecessary complexity and disjointedness to a process that should be pretty uniform across the site. I think in the interest of providing a uniform approach to working with Mod Organizer across all of these Bethesda titles that you should keep it within the game's folder. Experienced modders will realize that they can move it anywhere they want, while new users won't be saddled with unnecessary complexity in the modding process. Just my 2 cents. -

You're questioning the practice of putting the MO install into the .../Steam/steamapps/common/<gamename> folder? Why? Every guide on this site has you placing the MO files directly into the game folder. Unless I'm reading your post wrong? -

Are you following these instructions?: For the Improved Sound FX v0821 tick both "DLC esps" and "Data". Install the PN esp file into the Improved Sound FX mod and select [Merge] when asked. In the left pane of MO, right click Improved Sound FX and select "Information". Under the Optional ESPs tab, move all plugins EXCEPT "Improved Sound FX.esp" to Optional ESPs. You should be moving all plugins EXCEPT "Improved Sound FX.esp" -

I've got everything loaded and working great so far. Question for in game play. When I have a weapon drawn I can right-click and the HUD info comes up. When I have the weapon holstered and right-click nothing happens. Is there a way to have the HUD information come up even when my weapon is holstered? Edit: Nevermind, looks like pressing 'I' will do it. Was hoping to have the right-click be able to do it, but I can live with this. -

I'm going through the full install of the guide again and had a question about More Perks. When you say 'move all plugins' to the Optional ESM's box are you only referring to the .esp files or are you also including the .esm files as well? Basically, do I move everything from the bottom to the top? Or only the .esp files? Thanks. -

Returning to the game (and this pack) after about 6 months. It appears the LOOT instructions for ADAM are no longer necessary. When I went to edit the metadata for Adam to put in the Load After rules you had, they were already there. Just FYI -
Mod Organizer should be installed in the Skyrim folder so leave it there. Bigger question is where is Steam installed? If it is installed in the C:Program Files (x86) folder then you should move it to a different directory. Steam (and all your Steam games) should be installed to a different drive or at least a different directory because of how Windows handles the security on the C:Program Files (x86) directory.
-
1) Where is Mod Organizer installed? What directory? 2) Do you have any MO supported games installed?
-
Cant run fallout new Vegas with mod organizer OH NOO!
Vaportrails replied to hamburgerhelperman's question in Mod Organizer Support
1) What directory is your Steam installed in? 2) Is Mod Organizer installed inside the Fallout New Vegas directory? 3) You are starting the game through Mod Organizer correct? At the very least make sure that Steam is not installed in your C:Program Files (x86) directory. If it is, you should move it. Mine is installed on my D: drive. Mod Organizer should be installed INSIDE of the Fallout New Vegas directory: D:Program Files (x86)SteamSteamAppscommonFallout New VegasMod Organizer... The game should really only be started through the Steam launcher the FIRST time to set your graphics settings. After that it should always be started through Mod Organizer. Within Mod Organizer you should be starting the game using the 4gb loader. I highly suggest going through https://wiki.step-project.com/User:Essarrbee/FalloutNewVegas and follow the guide for setting up the game. Go all the way through until you hit the 'Quests' section and then you can continue on with the guide or go your own way. But getting MO setup correctly and using the 4gb loader is all detailed in the beginning sections. -
Remove XP32 Maximum Skeleton from STEP 2.3.0
Vaportrails replied to SmaugNogardeht's question in General Skyrim LE Support
They are separating the STEP: Extended mods from the STEP: Core install. Starting with 2.3.0 they are making the STEP: Extended install a separate 'pack' that would be installed over the top of STEP: Core. -

Vaportrails replied to BahamutZ's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
You really really really need to move to Mod Organizer. With that said, I think you can accomplish the same thing in Wrye Flash by just deactivating those plugins. However, I'm not an expert on Wrye Flash so don't take my word for it. Again, use Mod Organizer. Doesn't matter what reservations you have about it, or if you've read of 'problems' with it, or you're just 'more familiar with other mod managers'. Use it! -
Choosing a Guide / Adding Additional Mod Questions
Vaportrails replied to AddictedxGamer's topic in Step Skyrim LE Guide
Please understand that NO we don't hate you. All of us were at the same place as you at some point in our Skyrim 'careers'. And we understand that when you're looking for help, things can seem daunting/confusing/not as black and white as we'd like them to be. With that said, I'm not sure you're going to find a definitive answer on this. It's kinda up to the ol' trial and error approach. I think the official stance on adding extra mods on top of STEP is go through the entire STEP installation FIRST, play the game a bit to ensure that it is stable, and only then begin installing extra mods you're interested in. It's pretty much a guarantee that with all those extra mods you WILL have issues at some point; some minor, some major. There are so many different variables in Skyrim installations. Things like end-user system configuration and specs, including video card drivers, etc. Custom INI tweaks that different mods might call for. Different versions of mods even. Because of that you will just have to take it as FACT that you WILL have issues. And in order to find and fix the issues you need to ensure that STEP itself is not the issue; because for some it can be (again based on system configuration, user install error, weird glitches, butterfly migrations and so on). This is a time consuming process, but I think you're heading down the right track with your spreadsheet; it will help in keeping stuff organized, etc. At this point in my time with Skyrim I can safely say that I've spent probably DOUBLE the time in just modding the game than in actually playing it. And I'm pretty sure most of the people on this forum could say the same thing. Some advice on a specific mod: Falskaar. To me, Falskaar is DLC. It is a full-fledged 'unofficial' DLC package. At least that's how I perceive it in my mind. I think the same thing about Wyrmstooth. I think of them as DLC, not mods. So, with that in mind, I always place them and install them just the same way that the Skyrim Revisited guide does it. In relation to STEP I would probably place them after the INTERFACE section and before the CONFLICTING GRAPHICS section. I would also optimize it using DDSopt just like the SRLE guide instructs. Regarding the Bashed Patch, I think you have to rebuild it after every time you add an esp to the mod list. So in your case, I would probably do the Bashed Patch after you've installed all the mods you want. OR, you can go through all of the STEP install, including the Bashed Patch but just keep in mind that you'll need to rebuild it once you've added all your other additional mods. Again, trial and error. We can't give you a definitive answer. For the other mods you have questions about regarding categories, look at where the Nexus places them and just sort of mix and match as best you can. I don't know that there's any RIGHT answer in the exact placement you have them in Mod Organizer. LOOT will take care of ordering the esps as best it can. Getting this game to a perfectly stable unglitched state is nearly impossible especially with so many mods added to it. Take it a 'step' at a time by getting STEP installed first and test it out. -
GUIDE Fear and Loathing in New Vegas - Feedback
Vaportrails replied to EssArrBee's topic in Fear & Loathing in New Vegas
I kinda like it. I certainly like the concept. The sorting ability is brilliant. However, I wish it was within the PipBoy interface, but can't have everything. Playing devil's advocate for a bit (not trying to bash the mod at all and I realize it's in alpha): What happens when you're at 10hp, about to die, need to take a stimpak but the monster is closing in because the game hasn't paused by opening the inventory? Even the behavior with SkyUI is that the game is paused. I'm sure hotkeys would work and maybe other solutions but it would be clunky to get used to not having the game paused while trying to grab those stimpaks or chems during a fight. How about the local/world maps/quests/etc.? Do you still have to open the Pipboy for that? In that case, it's essentially splitting up one immersive interface into 2 which seems redundant. The beautifully awesome answer would be to add all the functionality of the mod in the video to the PipBoy interface. But again, I imagine there may be limitations to doing that. -
He means: 1) Download the 7z file from this location: https://sourceforge.net/projects/modorganizer/files/?source=navbar 2) Extract the contents of the 7z file into its own folder: ModOrganizer_v1.2.9 3) Copy all of the contents from the ModOrganizer_v1.2.9 folder into the Mod Organizer folder (which should be in your Skyrim folder) overwriting any matching files. NOTICE: you keep using 1.2.8 but 1.2.9 is the most recent version.

Can I create my own categories in MO?
Vaportrails replied to CovertSlinky's question in Mod Organizer Support
I'm not at home so am unable to check if you can create custom categories. I want to say 'No' but I'm not sure. However, if all you're wanting to do is organize sections of mods better, one way to do it is to create 'dummy' mods in MO. Just go the .../Mod Organizer/mods folder and create empty folders naming them whatever you want (i.e. '-----Clothing & Equipment-----' or '-----Gameplay-----') These dummy mods can be left unchecked in the left pane of MO and will help to create a sectionalized view of the mods. -
A Few Questions About Installation and Compatibility
Vaportrails replied to AddictedxGamer's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I don't think you'd get very far with this approach. The STEP staff supports only the official STEP installation guides. Any mods outside of those are not officially supported. By that I mean that if you provided a list of mods outside of the STEP guide that you want to use, they might (and probably would because they are awesome) answer questions as best they could by they aren't going to provide detailed instructions on where to place mods, conflict resolution, ini tweaks, etc. on these extra mods. Which is what I suspect might be what you're ultimately looking for. -
A Few Questions About Installation and Compatibility
Vaportrails replied to AddictedxGamer's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Skyrim Revisited is NOT 'compatible' with STEP (either Core or Extended). They are completely different installation guides. Meaning this: it's not advised to install STEP: Extended and then go and install Skyrim Revisited on top of that. Regarding your questions for installing mods outside of the STEP guides I would advise this: Before installing STEP, make a list of the extra mods you want to use (like Frostfall, iNeed, etc.) Then proceed through the STEP install and keep in mind the extra mods and for any special install instructions just add the extra mods as instructed by the mod install directions. If a mod has an optional checkbox for Frostfall then go ahead and check it. Likewise for any other mod you want to use. I personally install all the extra mods I want to use (I use all the ones you mentioned) while I'm going through the STEP install. For example, I consider Frostall a 'Gameplay' mod so I install it after the mods listed in the Gameplay section of STEP. I would consider Immersive Armor part of 'Clothing & Equipment' so i install it after the mods listed in the Clothing & Equipment section.
