  1. This is funny. I was JUST looking to see if anyone had made progress with this last night! Although I didn't find this mod (probably because I looked for "durability" rather than "degradation"). I will definitely be looking into this. And I hope some of you guys do too. Most of you are smarter than I am, so you'll have better input than I will. :P
  2. Personally, I don't know if I'd call this a "fix". Although I agree it shouldn't sound like that while underwater, without it it sounds too quiet. Almost to the point that I find it less realistic (albeit barely). I think the only way to really "fix" the problem would be to have a different sound trigger when underwater. Obviously this is just my two cents, take it for what it's worth. I can be pretty strict on which mods I install at times.
  3. Thanks. It was a toss up between this and the other. I made the wrong call. Sorry about that. I am about to start a new game. What I was wondering is if anyone noticed anything that could be causing problems in my last save so as to not experience them again in my new game.
  4. I think it's time to admit I've ruined my current play through. It's time to start over. But I have to assume that most of my issues are mod related, so it doesn't make sense to start a new game if those issues will just come back. The biggest issue I was having seems to be script related. But I'm not exactly sure which as the problem seems to pop up in unrelated areas (I couldn't catch a carriage to Solitude, and then I couldn't place Meridia's Beacon on her altar without massive delays). So I figured I'd post my load order here and see if anything sticks out. Someone on the Nexus pointed out some of my weather related mods may conflict and I've disabled a few, but I figured I'd ask around and see if anyone knows of any issues with anything. Mods struck out and coloured red have been disabled since I copied the load order. Orange ones are the other mods pointed out that I'm unsure of. Someone said on the Nexus forums that they could cause issues with CoT, but on their mod pages some are saying they work fine. Active Mod Files:
  5. The next version doesn't use TPC? I wasn't expecting that. As for Soul Gems, I haven't checked out Soul Gems HD, but I do remember not being overly satisfied with Soul Gems Differ. So I'm going to trust your judgement here, Cestral.
  6. I was starting to think these would never come! They look great, too! Who am I kidding? Of course they do. Do you have an estimate on when the update will be finished? Admittedly I've just moved beyond Orcish on my current play through, but after seeing how the armour turned out I'm really excited to see how the weapons look. And I know I'm probably getting ahead of myself here. But do you have any idea on the direction you will go on Ebony? Do you plan on staying strict to the lore or are you thinking of going for the gold-trimmed look of the rest of the series?
  7. Based on the screenshots this looks amazing! I'll grab this now and try it out.
  8. I can't be bothered making screenshots right now, but I compared the dds files when I first downloaded Beards (it was when it was first released, but I don't think anything has changed). Beards is definitely the better looking pack. Although I know without screenshots my opinion doesn't mean much. But after checking the files, removing HQ Beards seemed like a no brainer to me.
  9. Sadly yes. :(
  10. 3.2 is released to fix the problem.
  11. 3.2 is released to fix the problem.
  12. I'm so pumped to see you've started work on the weapons! Mainly (as I'm sure has been pointed out many times) for Elven and Dwemer, as they're the most noticeable. But I also use Millenias weapon textures, so that may explain why I don't notice any extreme differences with iron and steel. It's such a shame he didn't get into Skyrim. It would have halved your workload :P. I'm kidding of course. I've been a fan of his work for years (he does Fallout weapon retextures), but he doesn't do armour textures. And man, are your armour textures something to behold!
  13. Version 1.4 has an optional ESP file. I haven't tried it yet, but I imagine it will conflict with a few mods. Namely Immersive Content - Exterior Lighting Enhancement.
  14. They both have an ESP, don't they?Neither of them do. Ultimate HD has two mesh that may direct to different textures. But without testing it in game I can't say if there's a conflict. I probably won't get many chances to play over the next few days as I have family things. But it's Christmas Eve, I'm sure most of you do. :D Either way, I'm sure they have to conflict somehow. They do, after all, change the same thing from what I can see from screenshots.
  15. I just checked Cinematic Fire Effects and Ultimate HD Fire Spells archives and they don't share any textures. Which is strange as both cover spells. I haven't had any time to compare any deeper than "does this mod have the same files?" but on the face of it they shouldn't conflict. Although they both seem to cover the same thing. I'm not sure what to make of this at a glance.
  16. Most of the textures in this pack are already covered by STEP (unless, of course, they come from SRO. In which case they won't be covered in the future. If that is the case disregard this post). When you say they are an improvement over the existing textures, do you mean the ones existing in vanilla or the ones in STEP? I know this is a rather small request for a 32mb file, but do you have any screenshots comparing these to the ones included in STEP? EDIT: It seems my question was answered while I was asking it. Although I'm still curious to see how they compare to SRO's textures, it won't matter too much in the near future as most - if not all - of us will be moving on from SRO.
  17. These look great. The only thing left to think about is "red or yellow?" EDIT: Pretty sure yellow is the way to go.
  18. I think you have the right idea with removing required mods. SRO will be difficult to get a hold of for those who didn't already have them. As for its replacement, it will probably be some time before we see anything that extensive and of similar quality. And when something like that does come along, assuming you're still maintaining TPC by that time, the usual amount of work would be taken to test the package in relation to what is already there. My point is, I don't think there is anything to worry about. I think the majority of us already have the 1.6 update and Dawnguard textures. And once the requirements are gone, it won't be an issue for those that didn't get them. We appreciate the work you are doing and understand that things may not be perfect going forward. But, like you, we will make the best of an unfortunate situation and continue to enjoy and support the work you do.
  19. It will be difficult at first. But something will come a long and take its place. Especially now that there is such a great need for it. As for the reduced texture pack, some of the screenshots show a noticeable loss in quality (as you'd mentioned there was). I think if it were to be incorporated into STEP it would be as an optional file for those with low end PC's rather than a recommendation for the average user.
  20. I think I understand it better than you realise. In fact, I'm sure most people do. The two things you mentioned are not really the same thing at all. One is stealing, the other isn't. To quote myself (it was added to the end of my last post after you responded): But from your current post, am I to gather that you believe people are not allowed to arrange files in a way that suits them? And in case I'm not clear, I mean for personal use, not to upload. And if that is not what you imply, then what is wrong with having an automated way to do so? If it is however, I'm sorry you feel this way. But you will have a hard time finding someone who genuinely agrees with you.
  21. He didn't "use" your mod. All he did was ask people to download it and provided an application to organise it. TCP merely makes what we were already doing simpler. I simply cannot think of another explanation for you having a problem with what is essentially a sorting program other than the fact that you do not like that in certain cases it favours the work of others over yours. Nobody here is going to tell you that your work is not great. But they will also not tell you that it is perfect. But the same holds true for the other major texture packages. Some files in one may be better than those in another but the other has files preferable over the first. Cestral did nothing wrong. None of your assets were used. In fact, not only did he give full credit in an instance where he needed only to provide a link, he also asks everyone to endorse the packages that TCP covers. He did more than he needed to in support of the authors. He includes none of their work. TCP is nothing more than a few lines of code and some file names. Are you really going to tell us that recommending work that one enjoys to others is wrong? Modding is about making Skyrim the best it can be. Are you going to tell us we are not allowed to want that? How is it wrong to find a simpler way to do that? Nothing was stolen. He provided a link. He gave full credits and praises to all the mods authors. He even encourages users to endorse the works they use. He has gone above and beyond what he needed to do. Now, I'm not going to try and ask you to restore SRO. As I cannot see that happening as long as you hold this attitude. And frankly, I think it's for the best. The modding community could do without such personalities. Just know that as long as SRO is online (Nexus or otherwise), and people use it they will continue to replace elements of it with ones they find more appealing to them. Whether they do it manually or with a utility such as TCP. It is the very nature of modding, after all. As for STEP. TheComplier did nothing more than recommend your mod to others. I do hope you call a restaurants head chef before you tell your friends they should go there for lunch. EDIT: Just thought I'd address your latest post as I didn't see the need to double post. He included file names. Which if I'm not mistaken are the ones Bethesda created. So you don't own. And used the term "SRO" a bunch of times. You're being melodramatic.
  22. Aw man! Why couldn't this have come out last week? Solitude just got attacked and I lost two people. My first play through where civilians died. :( Great suggestion, though. Essential, even (for me, at least). Thanks!
  23. I agree. I don't think either project should focus on a mod that will likely go down the next time its author takes issue with something petty and they shouldn't have to change their principles to please someone elses misguided ideas. We like SRO, but we certainly don't need it and at this point, I don't think many of us will want it if Starac doesn't fix his attitude.
  24. I assume you mean SRO? I thought it was strange that it was hidden when I went to check it last night. I'm pretty disappointed, actually. Starac seems like a pretty cool guy. But I admit that based on some of his posts I've seen in other threads do make this slightly less surprising. I guess I just don't understand his issue. Or that I do, but I refuse to believe it. EDIT: I just read the other responses here (which I should have probably done before posting) as well as checking discussions on other sites. I must say I'm quite appalled by his attitude. As a mod author myself, I understand and endorse the rights of modders. But even so I have to say that he's out of line. This isn't one of the rights he has as a modder, and it also encroaches on the right of mod users. Which are just as important as the rights of the creators. That and the whole god-complex he seems to have (which as I mentioned before was noticeable from posts he'd made before all this drama) is just repellant. It's unfortunate, but seeing as I can't see him changing his tune, SRO will likely fall into obscurity.
  25. Oh hells yes! I've been aching for this! (As I'm sure we all have) Thanks for letting us know!
