Advanced Recon Patches (by darthbdaman)
MonoAccipiter replied to darthbdaman's topic in Fallout: New Vegas Mods
Excellent, then I think everything should be in order. Now if I can only clear my head of this massive to do list that comes along with having multiple projects at one and the same time, I will probably look into adding your patches to my profile, and thence to the guide. :: -
Friends and acquaintances, I haven't really been thinking about upgrading my computer lately, but just today I stumbled upon an ad for a (slightly) used Sapphire 390X NITRO at 3350,- kr (391.50 USD), which is 1100,- kr (128.55 USD) less than the price for a new card. As I haven't really paid any attention to any of the newer generation cards I was wondering if anyone could offer some advice on whether it's worth jumping on. I know (or assume from experience I guess) we have pretty steep prices, but it wouldn't be much cheaper to buy from abroad due to fairly strict tariffs, and it is a 24.7% decrease in price. As you can see by my signature I have a 7970 GHz Edition from ASUS (a binned model). ~Mono

Advanced Recon Patches (by darthbdaman)
MonoAccipiter replied to darthbdaman's topic in Fallout: New Vegas Mods
Hey, darthbdaman! Updated ADAM to 4.2 today, and if any of your patches were using some of the standalone plugins, there's a considerably high chance I might have broken them ever so slightly (in other words - completely). I also noticed that your favorite game on the Nexus is KotOR 2, which is just ultra awesome. One of my dearest RPG experiences for sure (a Star Wars game that deconstructs Star Wars? What's not to love for a literature fanatic like me?) EDIT: For anyone worried, the complete plugin won't have broken anything in either case, so F&L users should be fine even without an update. -

Okey. New ADAM version is up, think my mind is gonna explode from all the things I've kept up there in my easily-accessible drawers today. At least I have a proper baseline for any further development now, and don't have to worry that much about unknown bugs biting me whenever I touch the thing! -

There's an extremely important detail that differentiates the way FNV ends from the way FO3 ended though - it makes a save right before the battle. So you can in theory complete the battle and go back if you were dissatisfied with how some things ended. I actually prefer it this way as it allowed them to describe larger effects of your decisions upon the Mojave than having a post-battle gameworld would (without it costing a massive amount of development time). The difference in any case is that Obsidian made an intentional design decision in sticking with the ending slides, whereas Bethesda just seemed to go for the easier option, and did so incredibly cheaply with the whole radioactive chamber nonsense. -

Yes, I'm working on a rather large update of ADAM. As far as difficulty goes, NV has a lot of unleveled enemies so I usually just tweak Project Nevada's options to my liking. Spent like one and a half hour running around getting food on my newest character, and I guess that's difficulty of a sort. @darkside: Will do. Do I also need to update the link in the guide? Can't check right now. Glad to hear you're enjoying your time in the Mojave. @Hackerpcs: Glad to hear you're enjoying the game. LR is more of a finale to the Courier's story (which is explored more through the DLCs) while the Battle of Hoover Dam is like a finale to the story of the Mojave. Doesn't really matter if you play it right before the battle or not, but it's a very tough challenge, so be prepared for that in any case. -

Yes it would, but it already has HH and LM as masters and it's 2016, I'm ready to start assuming people have what is one of the best DLC collections in the 21st century. I'll just exclude it from the standalone plugin, which I kinda have to remake in any case. -

Yeah, the terminal note pretty much confirms that. I might make a new recipe for it, and have the original armor be missing though, as the note also seems to indicate that he might use it as a disguise (i.e. insinuating that he used it to slip away when the NCR took Helios One). I've rewritten the note - it didn't really sound like Elijah, and people really need to learn that you don't write "..." in your own notes when you're unsure about how to formulate something - but kept that reference. Yep, you were right, one of Yui's mods restores them as a surprise item. Still means it's really hard to collect them though, so I'll just add like 3 of them as clutter in the workshop next to the map that says "Went to Sierra Madre". Also added a bomb collar static as a hint of things to come. -

Do any of the mods in F&L restore any of the cut Sierra Madre caravan cards? I'm revising the entire Helios Workshop (place looked like the inside of a trash can) and thought maybe it would be neat to clutter it with some of the unavailable cards, but I don't think I'll bother if some other mod restores them. -

I will probably just make the mesh point to the textures (which it should have in the first place, since it was a special mesh for the Prototype Riot Gear) instead of using texture sets, and you can download the new one as an optional if you prefer it (like me). @Van: You telling me a medium armor with higher DT than Remnants Power Armor hidden behind an unlocked door near Novac isn't balanced? -

I see. Well, I'll probably have a new version up tomorrow or so. Having a lock on the door was a good idea in any case. I'm probably going to look into the Rangers on Patrol stuff at some point, because I don't really like that there are Veteran Rangers about before the bulk of them gets called up from Baja. Also, how do you feel about the shoulderguards for the Prototype Riot Gear? They've always put me off from using the armor because they clip so heavily with the coat, and I'll probably end up making a custom mesh for my equipment pack in any case, but I was wondering if I should make the default version exclude them and just offer the old mesh as an optional download. -

Only the incomplete stuff right (including the recipes)? It's a good idea, but I'd like to have the base mod as simple as possible, so I'll remove it for now (you can just copy it over in FNVEdit again in any case). I was probably going to remove the Riot Gear Recipe in any case. You'll probably want the already included versions to be the incomplete, so you won't have to change the cell placements, I'd think. -

The plugin has SRB's recommended weapons.esp as a master. I've successfully created a female mesh for the Riot Gear, but I'll hold out with adding it until I can use your plugin. -

Is ENB truly broken for FNV?
MonoAccipiter replied to baronaatista's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
As I said I don't really have that many glitches. As for what you reported: "weird translucent edging around objects", by this I assume you mean the problems DoF and AA has with transparency. This is pretty normal and why in most cases having detailed meshes is much better than trying to make parts of a texture transparent. You'll see this issue in FO3 too, sadly, and I know Gopher for one has pointed out that it's an issue he has with ENB (though he still uses it) in one of his Let's Plays. I have this issue too, but don't really notice it all that much except in some very awkward lighting (the most bothersome for my part is FCO's eyebrows and the sweat effect, which shows edges sometimes.) "objects getting set as never-fade", this I'm more unsure about as I've never experienced it myself. Sounds like some variant of the transparency bug, and for that the ENB board is crawling with solutions, so I'd go check that out if I were you. I am not 100% sure it's that though, and someone else might be better at troubleshooting that issue. -

Nice catch! I should probably be able to fix the Prototype Riot Gear female mesh soonishTM now that I have 3DS Max setup again (albeit an older version than with the trial  ) and I think I'm gonna have a look at balancing the armor out somewhat at the same time, bumping it out to v4.2. I'm also gonna see if nives (Spice of Life author) will let me include the modified versions of her mesh and ADAM's textures that I made for my equipment pack (pictures in that thread) in ADAM, possibly even standalone for people who doesn't use SoL (though I have a hard time seeing why you wouldn't). -

MonoAccipiter replied to baronaatista's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
The aliasing is much more noticeable with AO enabled (which is why I've learnt to live with it, though I initially was as sensitive as you, Audley). The only thing coming close to fixing it was temporal AA, but that isn't available for the FNV ENBs and in Skyrim it had ghosting issues. -

If I may suggest a future addition, perhaps adding AR and PN support for the Legacy of X13 helmet would be a good idea? I started on a plugin for this, but I never actually got around to adding AR support as I hadn't really read into how AR added its vision modes yet. -

Hold out a day or two with installing New Vegas Landscape Overhaul, I'll finish up fixing the deleted navmeshes today I think, and I've already edited the meshes used in Jean Ruins so they don't have a crazy large collision box anymore. My casino overhaul stuff has a thread of its own, and I should be getting back to it soon as Machienzo gave me permission to use great-looking assets (Collector's Edition cards and chips). Thank you for the very kind words. :: @Van: Say what now? :O_o: -

Some ENB presets recommend turning off water displacement too (in the launcher). I personally haven't had any issues with detailed shadows, but otherwise what Audley said is on point. It's not really broken as much as having to deal with a lot of limitations because it's an old game. -

Hi, Mortecotic. I haven't tried that out yet, sorry. Looks interesting though, but it might conflict with the Casino Overhaul I'm working on (not sure).
