  1. I like this mod better because it makes much smaller alterations to the helms look and shape themselves. The alternate gaurd helms with smaller eye holes is a great example.
  2. I suggest using texture optimizer from the nexus. Run it on maximum settings, and dont' forget to select your BSAs. With 1280mb of VRAM on your card you should have no problem running a large quantity of high resolution textures so long as you make sure to run them through an optimzer after you install them. You will actually often get better visual quality with a texture optimizer like optimizer textures or DDSopt because most custom textures on skyrim.nexus have not properly created mipmaps.
  3. At this point, I would suggest uninstalling skyrim through steam, deleting your skyrim folder from steam, and then reinstalling skyrim through a steam download. Until you can be certain your game folder is up to date and uncorrupted you can't do anything else to troubleshoot your problem.
  4. Use the meduim resolution version of WATER. I recommend using a texture optimizer program. Texture optimizer on the nexus is not the best program, but it is really good and very easy to use. I recommend just running it on maximum strenth. Make sure to check your BSAs as well. Some people, usually ATI users but it effects everybody, experience input lag issues with the game. I wrote a guide on it, if you are experiencing problems like my guide describes than that might be a big part of your issues https://forum.step-project.com/showthread.php?tid=1089&pid=14955#pid14955
  5. I have a suspicion that cleaning these ITMS can break some parts of the plugin. Whether this is out of necessity or poor design I don't know.Â
  6. Check your fps to get a handle on performance. GPU-z is very good for that, run it in the back ground and check your peak VRAM usage, and then use FRAPS to montore your FPS. Stuttering in skyrim can happen even when your performance is really good, which I suspect might be happening in this case.
  7. That sounds to me like GPU artifacting at its finest. Reinstall drivers from scratch and disable crossfire. There is a very good chance one of your cards might need an RMA.
  8. Yeah I am not a fan either. But there are lots of people who would rather have more attractive people at the expense of some realism. This is the most complete beauty package I have come across yet.
  9. The stand alone version from the first mod is just a texture/mesh replacer. I feel the enhanced edition is a little too ornate but I like the regular one a lot.
  10. WSBP - Windsong Skyrim Beauty Project v2 by tjrgytjq https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/26404 Its a complete textures suite for all the races. Seeks to clean characters facses without losing all of their original character. It it compatible with CBBE and UNP body mods. Judging from the screenshots, it seems like all of the characters in skyrim have been replaced with more handsome/beautiful cousins of the original NPC. I don't think its right for STEP, and I personally don't prefer it, but for someone going for a prettier, more cinematic skyrim experience this mod would be right at home.Â
  11. Ah ok. I would advise disabling crossfire as a first step when playing skyrim. The ATI drivers for crossfire in skyrim are abyssmal, and they always have been for bethesda titles. That might clear up the problem right there. If it doesn't clear up the problem, then you main display card (the one running skyrim) would have the graphics artifacting issues. If you are overclocking your GPUs return them to stock. If that doesn't help or if they are already at stock, return the card for an RMA. There is a very old tool that can test for artifacting. It was meant for cards made several years ago, but you can try it on your setup: https://www.techpowerup.com/atitool/ If you notice any yellow dots, that indicates GPU artifacting. Your situation is a little more complicated also, because you have two gpus. Ideally you should test both individually to make sure both are working correctly. Also, just in case, I would reinstall your graphics drivers. Download this program here: https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/358947/geforce-drivers/how-to-correctly-remove-graphics-card-drivers-/1 It will make sure any and all graphics driver files are deleted and your system is completely clearn of GPU drivers. From there re install 12.11 (or whatever the most up to date version is).
  12. That trinity mod is a great find. Do the health bars fade in and out like vanilla? Does the crosshair work with mounted combat? These were problems I had with similar HUD mods before.Â
  13. Zfighting occurs with overlapping meshes, and,to my knowledge, the entire sky in skyrim in one big mesh. I want to say texture popping and z fighting refer to the same thing, but clarify if it doesn't. A lot of people have reported seeing lines flickering in and out in the sky, but it sounds like its a somewhat universal problem and you have to look exceptionally hard to see it. Does this describe what you are seeing at all? If the effect is very noticeable,as in not subtle, my first guess for a problem like this would be graphics artifacting. This can be caused by a variety of things.
  14. I can confirm this. I had the same problem and fixed it with this mod. There is a version that only replaces the quest markers and player position, which is the one I prefer because the full version looks  a little like crayola madness in the compass.Â
  15. I have tried your mod. I didn't know you, as the individual, where the author. I am unsure why you are spoiling for a fight with me. What exactly did I say that offended you?
  16. Wow that is pretty involved. I guess as another category ITMS and UDRs and if the mods responds positively to cleaning.
  17. Initially I wasn't keen on these textures, but I am downloading them to give them a try in game. I do like the authors work a lot from this mod. Here you say how you aren't familiar with any of my work. But earlier in post 19. you said this:Â Â And then this: Does this makes sense to you? Yep, got it.
  18. My opinion on SRO and Skyrealism packages is that most of it is really very good. I don't use them only because of a few minor squibbles. I ideally I should go through all of them and hand select the ones I like and don't like but I lack the patience so I just go without. When I talk about grainy textures I am talking about select textures from popular mods for the most part, and a couple retexture projects that I am not a fan of but am also not interested in nameing.
  19. I was very careful not to call out any person for using gritty textures. To be honest, I am not familiar with any of your work so when I wrote about it I couldn't have had anything you did in mind. Everything I have to say about gritty textures and how I feel about them is in the post I linked.
  20. I'm trying to understand this part? Ruins clutter textures should look more worn, older. In fact this is true for almost all architecture and clutter textures in this game. And mu goal as always was to make them similar to vanilla. Many textures in this mod are great, except urn and pot which look pretty bad. But they should be less clean and more worn out. Maybe obsolete is better expression? Gritty and busy are textures that, simply put, just use to many dark colors for detail shading. I am reluctant to provide examples because they tend not to be well received. I wrote a thread on it here: https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/833498-an-appeal-to-texture-artists/page__p__6681979__fromsearch__1&do=findComment&comment=6681979 My personal appeal against busy textures. Its a problem that has always existed in textures sense morrowind, and I think (without trying to sound ungrateful or condescending)  it just a product of hobbyist texture art.
  21. I agree with Neovalen, I think the owned way makes more sense for realism. However, from a game design way, the game gives you a specific mechanic for selling stolen goods. I don't know if it fits the core STEP mantra, but I do think it is a great mod and a worthy edition to another STEP package.
  22. My personal preference, I much prefer the textures in this mod to the textures in any of the overhaul mods. This modder did a wonderful job of not making the textures to gritty and busy (like nearly all texture artists do.. grr), but also added in nice finer details and good edging where appropriate.
  23. I would appreciate a better explanation myself. I am really nonplussed as to how I managed to break some of my mods doing nothing but cleaning out the dirty edits. Everything I know about how the records works says it shouldn't hurt anything. Maybe it was something else I did instead, but I can't think of how else I changed these files. Very peculiar.
