  1. Yep, Sydney has to put in a lot more effort than your average modder too being colour blind He has to use digital or hex colour values to ensure what *normal site people should be seeing for any particular colour. I researched colour blindness for a good palette for the old Wrye Bash Pictorial Guide screens reference post, and came across various data tables which can be used ... a simple example of which is here ( not the colour palette, the CMYK / RGB values on the right ). A more expanded one giving hex and RGB percentage is on wikipaedia here *normal = everyone of us can be slightly colour blind in our perception, either Deuteranope /Â Protanope /Â Tritanope Edit: For anyone interested : ColorPicker is a handy web based tool
  2. I see quite a few posts where RLO is being blamed for certain effects I cannot concur with .. possibly in combination with other mods installed and / or enb and / or ini tweaks and / or imaginator / monitor settings / tinted spectacles and lord knows what else affecting lighting ? S.T.E.P and its guides are rather well respected and popular, opinions formed here are going to be influencial on people with less technical knowledge - So could you please review your posts and form a more accurate opinion of RLO just with the vanilla game as intended ? Sydney has been pointed towards comments made in this topic ( not by myself ) and is currently disheartened enough to consider giving up the project. That would be a a great shame considering how much detailled research and work has gone into the project. And these days on nexus it only takes one comment to spark a mob of neanderthals shouting 'sort it you messed my puter' at the author, the flood of which is trying for anyone who deservedly has a lot of pride in their work.
  3. And with the good quality body replacement .. I have an advertisement. Reference that conversation I had with Brokefoot, he has been asking around for anyone with the skill to re-do UNP body meshes, particularly BSDismemberment Partitions .. < scrambles around for the relevant info > .. Post is circa here https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/727665-brokefoot-unp-mashup-compilation/page__view__findpost__p__7132879 ( I say circa because a few bans later and the topic post number will shift ) This needs someone with experience ( and the software, Max ) to resolve the problem. I am still getting my head around NifSkope to do the simple edits. Correcting the Has Normals is about as advanced as I have got on the mesh front. So if you know any bored CG wizards, poke 'em towards this post :) In game for us users its not a problem, its just a pig to compensate for armour / clothing creators.
  4. Eorlund Gray-Mane has a sideline for the ladies, that Skyforge steel has more beneficial qualities than is publicly discussed. Good for those "Is that hair coming out of your ears?" moments too :) ( hence why he is rather close to the companions ) ( I know, making up lore as I go along here ) Personally I dont go for the skimpy stuff, but I just cant imagine underwear being a priority clothing concern in a barbaric world either .. To me the diapers are just a non-adult title thing to get more potential customer sales in our world, and I feel they are out of place. More native, less stinky ( and less likely to attract wolves from a few miles further afield downwind ) Thats my immersive excuse anyway, and sticking to it.
  5. I had one user had great success using UNPB BBPx v2.2 Though for Player Character I believe he said one of the extremes of the body slider using those meshes with these textures could make a seam which was obviously a mesh mismatch problem between head and body .. I dont know for sure, I have never used anything BBBB BBBBB :) But he gave me a screenshot to throw up in the images on Nexus of the successfull character he is using. Its easy to install / un-install though and re-install your original mesh / texture combination ( I think, I am not using any special skeleton / animation replacers either so possibly take my comments with a pinch of salt on that score ) .. .. and I am a dedicated Wrye Bash BAIN user, so throwing these things in / out may be easier for me than some - But this is the S.T.E.P community so you lot should be on average higher calibre in that department :)
  6. Completely in agreement RLO is superb not only visually but technically I dont know if you guys have noticed but there is a beta file up which is veeery interesting, it will not affect visuals for anyone ( or shouldn't, report any inconsistencies found .. so far I haven't found anything wrong with it ) .. RLO Occlusion Culling Performance Patch BETA
  7. Alt Navetsea UNP Seamless Download at ... Skyrim Nexus https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/30181/? Dark Creations News : There is now also a new version that has been converted to Skyrim SE, its meshes have been converted and textures redone in BC7 format, the new SE version now also includes all of Shiva182's UNP Body compatible Armour and Clothing meshes, with sets for UNP / B2 or Skinny meshes, all included in the installer. New Skyrim SE version is on this Nexus page. Unfortunately none of that can be back ported to Skyrim LE I dont know if you guys will be interested in this, but imho its rather good :) Nude female body replacer, Installs with NMM scripted, or Wrye Bash wizard Matched Body and head normals better Matched Body and head diffuse better Optionally install UNP 3rd person hands as 1st person hands ( I didn't like the fudge fingers less feminine Better Hands idea, but it occured to me you could do the reverse using UNP 3rd person hands ) UNP meshes have been edited from their originals .. Something you more technical bunch may be interested in Brokefoot asked me this .. I am fairly new to mesh editing, but took advice from Lorelai on BGS forum .. And of course being Navetseas textures re-worked, they are less glam than UNP or CBBE, for those of us who like a bit more closer vanilla textures, but just nude without bethsofts diapers on. Coming from me, you know it just has to have more resolution options than the original. Though not optimal, this was made for the screenshot crowd with uncompressed normals for example to avoid artifacting. And a higher res version than the original Navetsea textures. V5 is I believe just about the last version I may do. Requests are unlikely. Next project is setting to work on Vanilla Reduced Textures - for Dragonborn
  8. For anyone using VRT .. v16 was uploaded recently, and a couple of additional files Dawnguard users may be interested in ;)
  9. My bold - And for anyone who may have been interested in Prio before the latest version bugged out on win 7, just received a message from the authors to test out the latest .. Its working properly again. Download at the bottom here ( ignore the version 1.99 in the description, the download will give you version 200 2960 at time of posting ) Read all about it here and ref my previous posts on the subject ^^ :)
  10. Oh well, someone else will find it useful info I looked at your post count and thought my answer might be a bit unnecessary .. I should have stalked checked you out first :)
  11. Better Rocks and Mountains meshes are no longer needed if you use No Stretching, see my post before yours. 'Load Order' is irrelevant here - No Stretching files are loose mesh files, there is no esp to 'order' Because No Stretching files are loose file 'replacers' (they replace game original meshes with the same name), they will always win and end up in game (Loose replacer files win over game originals, and other replacer files contained in mods bsa's - So that also answers USKP, USKP has its files in a bsa, so No Stretching files being loose will win ... Although USKP I think does not cover these meshes yet so there is no conflict) 'Install Order' is important though, in the case of SMIM and W.A.T.E.R, which ever set of files you install last will overwrite the formers meshes with the same folder and filenames. If you want SMIM or WATER files to win, install them after No Stretching, so that the files which conflict are overwritten. If you want No Stretching files fixes instead, install No Stretching last .. easy choice. Just remember this simplification of how the game loads .. Exe runs, Loads its esm Loads its bsa's (bsa is like a zip; full of textures / meshes / sounds etc) Then depending on your load order loads your mods esp's, and bsa's Then loads loose files (if they are referenced by your mods esps ... OR .. If they are replacers) In all cases, Last loaded wins So if inside one of the official game original bsa's you have .. textures \ creatures \ monster.dds And you install a mods bsa which also contains .. textures \ creatures \ monster.dds The mods texture inside its bsa (being loaded later than the games bsa) will win. And then you also install a loose file ... textures \ creatures \ monster.dds The loose file texture will end up in game. Same goes for any resource, including meshes. To further complicate the above, custom replacer meshes can throw a spanner in the works If you look at a mesh in NIFScope, you will find paths to textures to be applied to that mesh So a game original monster.nif mesh will refer to the original texture .. textures \ creatures \ monster.dds Now you install a mods monster.nif, which has had the path of the texture changed to .. textures \ myawesomehirescritters \ monsterpink.dds And the mod comes with that texture as a loose file. Even if you install a loose replacer for the original texture the game will not load it, because it will look for the texture specified in the loose mesh ... Now have a look at SMIM again :), you are going to have to get detailled on what you want to win and end up in game. Read Brumbeks descriptions carefully. Edit: Probably more info than you wanted, sorry :).
  12. Well, scratch that last post, version 2.1 update now negates the need for Better Rocks and Mountains meshes. They are all now included in No Stretching
  13. They are recommended (once you have sorted Better Rocks and Mountains files into their correct file locations) because there are still 3 meshes which No Stretching does not have ... meshes\landscape\mountains\mountaintrimslab.nif meshes\landscape\rocks\rockl02.nif meshes\landscape\rocks\rockl04.nif I believe Langley mentioned this in one comment (though the cross language interpretations are making the conversation there hard to understand exactly what anyone is saying to each other, even for native english speakers), and it sounds to me like Langley is doing these in a future update along with other meshes which also make a mess of stretching vanilla sized textures.
  14. So much for my recommend, Prio has had a recent update which does not seem to install correctly, the previous version I luckily still have prio_win32_200_2751 works a treat on win 7, however the current prio_win32_200_2918 is a no show in Task Manager. I submitted a report ticket so watch out for updates.
  15. It would not surprise me, I have yet to catch up and have a good nosy at the whole thing, last time I looked ages ago quite a lot of it seemed to be out of my depth machine wise, but judging by the quality of detailled technical knowledge posts around here I think I ought to get a bit more nosy :)
  16. Excellent find, I tried last night and its a permanent feature now :) Also grabbed the recommend by Langley for Better Rocks and Mountains (using the No Textures option here) .. More of the same treatment for meshes.
  17. In the download is a html link to the required MSVC redistributable https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30679 Choose the appropiate one for your Operating system (x32 or x64)
  18. Farlo you dont need Skyrim Performance Plus with Vanilla Reduced Textures anymore .. I did the same trick in my files from v6 onwards. Although I reckon you probably noticed having read how much detail this topic goes into :) Gamebooster was getting quite good at one time, for older OS's anyway. Just before it went commercial and links to the last known good free version (sans adver/malware) started getting pruned off the net. Win 7 has addressed a lot of what it could do (ie not even having background services setup in the first instance on a home machine which were only appropriate for a commercial environment machine .. Which can be called into service on demand for anyone wanting there machine to have more professional needs anyway) There's very little needs culling from a win 7 home setup, and nothing which msconfig (google it, and be careful ;)) cant put a stop to permanently .. without the need for running yet another utility to do the same job, itself taking resources. Tune up utilities, never tried, but I guess its more of the same with either a subscription/browser toolbar plugin or advertisements angle. And proprietary machine software .. A bit more difficult to cull especially if it maintains a hidden partition for rescue purposes - But I find 90% of it just duplicates what you can do with windows anyway. These days I tend to get a machine, and if not provided also a win 7 install disk, then reformat and repartition the HD's how I want it (sometimes with a dual boot MBR for a linux partition), and always right click and move my documents to a different partition from the system partition, before storing anything there. Worst happens, reformat the system partition, re-install OS, documents are still there on the non system partition and you just move the documents location to where you have them stored already) .. hmm, going OT :) Anyway, I think you have most of what you can do squared away, but I would like to mention one tool you may not have heard of, and controversially this may seem like an additional service (which I have presented as unnecessary in the case of Gamebooster etc) This one is an extension of a service you dont want to stop, so it does not actually add another service ... Prio There are other pretenders to the throne but this one is very efficient, does no more than it claims, and is actually (wait for it) free. No angles, nothing else installed, reliable and recognised by microsoft security essentials as a trusted change to windows task manager (plus other anti-malware I have had previously installed, and MalwareBytes Antimalware which I have installed but in-active to launch occasional checks to see if MSSE has been doing a good job, so far it has). MRT will also leave it alone (windows own once a blue moon scanner which comes down the line with windows updates and periodically scans your setup - Type mrt in your start search box and run it, something here a lot of people will not know is you can run it in Full Scan mode (which it never does for the purpose of windows update scans, that just does a quick scan) .. ehm, going OT again .. It has a few additions to task manager which are very useful, I love the TCP/IP tab for having a nosy at what connections any given process has with the outside world .. But the main thing for your purpose is the ability to save exe priorities (and that sticks for the next time you boot your machine). Dont go daft with it and prevent win 7 from completely getting any priority to do essential background processes while you game on, but just raise skyrim for example 1 step higher in priority. Its not remarkable, but it does make a slight difference on machines such as your endeavor to optimise every little bit that helps. I have been using it for circa 6 years now. Edit: Oh yeah, before gaming .. disconnect your lan / wifi too :)
  19. :happy:Â I was just looking for somewhere appropriate to post that lot .. going back to sleep
  20. In that case .. no idea :( Someone else may be able to help, my experience is very limited, tried it on the desktop back in february I think after going up to 7 and it was successfull, but started a new game afterwards anyway to be sure. Tried it once on my laptop after trying going down to 3 (yep, wanting to go back up to 5) .. ooooh that was a bad idea :) But with the 1.8 beta probably getting close to going live, maybe its probably best for a delete / regenerate of ini's and new game time when released. Performance wise I am finding the beta a slightly noticeable improvement which is getting harder to spot these days.
  21. I have seen it mentioned once before, I dont know all the things which can become tied in with your save apart from everything distant being viewed earlier, but I do know AI can become dependant on it too, and as everyone is slowly coming to realise .. maybe bethsofts advice not to change it might not be so rubbish after all :) Did you refresh your ini via the console .. procedure is : Start Skyrim and load up a saved game. Use ALT+TAB to switch out of Skyrim and back to your Desktop. Edit the Skyrim.ini file as normal, modifying the uGridsToLoad variable to the desired lower value. Save Skyrim.ini and close it. Use ALT+TAB to switch back to Skyrim. Open the Command Console using the tilde ~ key and type refreshini. Save your game to a new save slot, and it should now have the correct new uGridsToLoad value.
  22. Whoa !, do my eyes deceive me ?, mentioned on the S.T.E.P forum ?. Amazed. Thanks guys, though its not the usual quality of material for S.T.E.P enthusiasts it has its own level of excellence for its purpose I guess :) Anyway, for anyone who may not have noticed recently, now on its 12th version I have hit nirvana in the VRAM usage. On my laptop maximum I am seeing used is 214mb (after running around Whiterun for forty odd minutes to cycle through all possible combinations / concentrations of simultaneously loaded textures at different times of day, which is always my heaviest hitting area in the VRAM department). And my other goal, keeping it looking as good as can reasonably be expected after such drastic reduction from the vanilla I think hasn't turned out as bad as I thought when I first started it. The very first version description started with "If you want your game to look like crap, you are in the right place" Its come quite a long way since. I sometimes wished an actual graphic artist would have come along with the same objective, I am just a determined tinkerer really, someone like Starac for instance would be able to do an absolutely amazing job .. But I doubt very much that would ever happen so got stuck in. Rather proud of it now :)
  23. Yep, even for people like me who do not wish to crunch the heck out of textures, its still a very useful tool in lots of ways. Its just loads of little things like downsizing face normal maps for one example, which still needs a bit of human/G.I.M.P love (sorry if that sounds uhm, wrong) to prevent your none blocky maps becoming blocky. Vanilla were bad enough before touch up, but to let DDSOpt then process those touch ups with default settings .. offends thine eye :)Â (especially after the game engine stretches them at lower resolutions for the type of machines likely to be using my mod) Ref the wiki guide, when the next full release of DDSOpt comes out the filtering advice will need pruned a little, the new ini includes I think most of them as special processing cases. One thing I have not done with pre 5b is re-visit terrain textures (LODs and maps). Last time I had a few command line batch files to redirect to a txt file all the thousands of names in there, which was then further processed in notepad++ to bookmark (via the find options) all the files to delete, then via the edit menu delete all bookmarked lines .. Resulting in a batch file for xcopy to separate a few thousand files again via command line into different folders which DDSOpt used to choke on (planar) for re-mipping. Again used GIMP on all terrain textures with a brew of scripting, then only used DDSOpt on the files it could handle to finish off remip. Anyway long story short - I think planar texture problems with DDSOpt (besides those few in the ini) may also be a thing of the past .. As mentioned though I have yet to try that job (see above diatribe - it was daunting the last time :)) Edit: PS - Off topic, but for anyone with Optimus laptop machines Sir Garnon (aka mnelson99) will have an update to Skyrim Performance Monitor at the weekend which will have a new setiings option in an attempt to get SPM to see the actual graphics card in use. See the comments.
