FAQ: Skyrim: DynDOLOD can not read data from *.json / DynDOLOD can not find master data in *.json A: Copy Meshes, Textures and SKSE (which includes the *.json files) from the output directory to the game directory. Make sure these files and DynDOLOD.esp are in sync from the same generation process. A: Can also be a save game update gone wrong. Test with new game, if successful, repeat clean save procedure. Make sure both DynDOLOD.esm and DynDOLOD.esp are activated in the load order. If the ESP is in the loader but it still says it can not be found, its broken. There is no none.json, it usually means it did not find the current worldspace name in DynDOLOD_Worlds.json or could not even look it up for some reason.
  2. FAQ: LODGen.exe runs a long time A: The selected configuration options require a lot of work. Wait for all processes to complete before closing DynDOLOD. Most likely LODGen.exe was not hanging but busy generating static object LOD for the world space. Looking at the LODGen_SSE_Tamriel_log.txt it seems it was interrupted. If you manually close it prematurely, then static object LOD for that worldspace will be incomplete.
  3. 5) hmm I will check why that does not work and try to fix for next version if possible. In the meantime you could instead change Reference from Unchanged to Original for those mesh rules. Leave rest of the rules default.

  5. No worries, that message exists to remind myself to disable the old TexGen output before doing a new run.
  6. TexGen uses the -o output path unless there are settings already saved from previous generations. They are stored in DynDOLOD_[GAME MODE]_TexGen.ini TexGen/DynDOLOD never output to the data folder. That path is denied to protect people from themselves. Also the tools do not care about existing files in the output folder, they will just be overwritten. The first option of the TexGen interface is setting the output folder, which you can change before clicking the start button. The message from the screenshot is all unrelated to that. It is telling you that previous generated textures are already installed in the data folder. Earlier output should be removed from the data folder to avoid circular texture generations.

  9. As I already mentioned, there is a bug. I found it. Just wait for the update. In principle nothing is supposed to be disabled in order to run DynDOLOD. If something causes problems it is supposed to be fixed. Disable plugins if you know what you are doing and you do not want them to be added as masters to DynDOLOD plugins.

Do not mix with old versions or xEdit installation. Post new log if problems still persists after that.
  12. FAQ: Tree LOD too bright/dark A: To make tree LOD brighter/darker, click the advanced button in the wizard for more options, including setting tree LOD brightness. To just update tree LOD select desired worlds top left, uncheck 'Generate static LOD', uncheck 'Create texture atlas', uncheck 'Generate DynDOLOD', then click OK. If lighting/weather mods or ENB cause wrong lighting in the game, you need to change settings in those mods or ENB. Test with new game and vanilla weather or without ENB.
  13. Using a patch makes more sense. in any case the next beta will work better with non paid mods ESLs. It is not a good idea to use DynDOLOD plugins that still have such errors. Something went wrong when base records link to NULL. The log shows plenty of "No model defined for" errors. Those need to be fixed. Lookup this FormID top left in xEdit, bringing up the tree reference in the right pane. Find the form id of the 'NAME - Base', like TreeAspen01 [TREE:0006A9E6]. Search in Textures\Terrain\LODGen\ subfolders for files with that number, like TreeAspen01_0006A9E6.dds and TreeAspen01_0006A9E6.txt. Replace files with correct versions. A: The DynDOLOD log will print a detailed list for each tree which billboard (and 3D LOD model if applicable) it is using. Use the base form id like 0006A9E6 to easily find the entries in the log.   15. Non paid mods ESL plugins are a bad idea atm since they are added to the ESM, while they should be added to the ESP. See if it works when you generate without in them in load order. I do not know if the end result will do what it needs to. I do not get why you need to flag a plugin ESL to fix anything what a normal ESP couldn't do? Looks like things went wrong. I am not going to guess. Post the log maybe?
  16. 1) requires dynamic LOD, since the tree changes based on quests. 2) That happens because those tree are done as static object LOD. They are skipped by traditional tree LOD generation because they have an enable parent. They are disabled for the intro. See c:\Skyrim\DynDOLOD\Docs\trees.ultra\DynDOLOD-Trees.html Trees on the Map section. 3) Changing fSplitDistanceMult changes the distances of the terrain LOD levels in relation ship to the object LOD levels. You can change it from the DynDOLOD SkyUI MCM Settings page. Changing these settings does not break anything. 4) ATM Only by increasing NearGrid I believe. If you use IgnoreLargeReferences=1 (large refs off for good) they might be automatically in the FarGrid or can be set to be with mesh rules for the model. I actually would have to verify myself to be sure what works. 5) Find the mesh rules 01burning and 01landburning and changing Grid to Never Fade LOD should work

By combining DynDOLOD with xLODGen users can create drastically enhanced traditional static object LOD plus tree LOD and a new, optional dynamic distant object LOD in a few simple steps. From first post of this thread: The object and tree LOD generation is the same as the current versions of xEdit / xLODGen. Refer to their respective descriptions and explanations. Obviously, users of Skryim/Skyrim SE/Skyrim VR continue to use DynDOLOD for drastically improved object and tree LOD generation. See the section Terminology in the From DynDOLOD_Manual.html which explains a lof of these tools/names and such things in more detail.
  18. In xEdit, you can mark (typical windows with SHIFT or CTRL + left mouse) all plugins you want to check in the left tree view, then right click and select Check for errors. After closing xEdit, you can search the xEdit log in notepad. If fixing error is a problem, try notifying the mod author once you know the problematic plugin. Errors usually do not go away by themselves. Did you generate from scratch the third time or where there DynDOLOD plugins already loaded? It might then skip over that part.

Check the load order for errors with xEdit.exe before generating LOD. Fix all errors. See this video for help.
  20. Check if DynDOLOD 2.37 beta 3 prints a more detailed error message mentioning a form ID / record. If you save the DynDOLOD plugins, it should be the last successfully added record to either DynDOLOD.esm or DynDOLOD.esp so far. Hopefully the EditorID of the record in the DynDOLOD plugin will provide clues to what plugin and form ID is the source of the problem.
  21. The log shows no MajesticMountains.esp in the load order? That plugin is required for the updated snow shader to be used - which seems to be the issue. Also make sure that the custom LOD meshes (they are in the main download) from Majestic Mountains are installed and that the textures from the LOD download are installed as well). Both LOD meshes and LOD textures should overwrite DynDOLOD Resources. This is what I get - yes the left mountain is LOD, the lower right is full model.

  23. My answer to Found REFR reference ... and similar error messages is always the same: This error message is straight from xEdit. There is a plugin in the load order that has that error in it. Check the load order for errors with xEdit.exe before generating LOD. Fix all errors. See this video for help.
