  1. Is patch/conflict(s) documented anywhere? I love the looks of this but it's way too finicky (even if putting at bottom of load order and making the SkUI tweak) for me to feel comfortable with it.
  2. It still seems pretty buggy, with the author updating four times in two days. I like the idea behind it, and I'll keep an eye on it, but it would need a version to last awhile without patching for new bugs before I'd give it a go. That said, gotta credit the author for being on top of bug squashing.
  3. The only robes that appear to not be covered (and will be covered in a separate pack) are the special ones like psijiic (probably butchered that) and greybeard. The "long" robes are the plain ones and the "college" are indeed the tunic-and-pants look. For instance, the robes you find in Helgen are "college" robes. So to get the full range of robes covered, use both mods. :) While some of the pics on the mod page are a little dark, and I do have an ENB in mine, I looked at them with ENB toggled off and they still look nice imo. The green robe I posted is the most "decorative" I've run into; most seem to be subtle geometric patterns.
  4. I'm glad you guys haven't abandoned this. I honestly prefer your overhaul visually but have used others because this is simply unfinished. :)
  5. Not sure, I do not use Diverse Priests.
  6. On Nexus EotW Mage Equipment Overhaul -- Long Mage Robes also (wasn't sure whether to make another thread) EotW Mage Equipment Overhaul -- College Mage Robes They do have a retexture pack for staves n such as a WIP and plan to add a pack for Psijic etc. too. But those two ^ are finished, for both Male and Female. Since STEP goes for a "vanilla, but better" aesthetic, these retextures fit in beautifully imo. Been running them on a new game and the best example I can give are the robes you find in Helgen. With this mod they still look faded and weathered, but you can see traces of a pretty pattern if you look closely. Colours aren't overly saturated, if the robe says "red robe" it's really red not some other colour. Detailing is pretty but subtle. I've run into no texture weirdness so far and no bad naming (see note about colours above). Here's an image I posted on the Long Mage page to give an idea. Not all patterns are floral.
  7. While there are quite a few I enjoy, I keep coming back to Seasons of Skyrim (Tribute). Looks nice overtop RCRN too, though butchers the RCRN team's work toward photorealism, lol.
  8. I'd be happy to test this, but until there's a response about compatibility with When Vampires Attack (same thing as Run for Your Lives, but with Vampires) I can't. EDIT: My really rudimentary knowledge of TES5Edit shows no conflict. If anybody who actually knows what they're doing with it wants to chime in, I'd feel better though. ;) EDIT: Testing on a new game. We'll see how it goes. Nothing like Immersive Patrols that could add werewolves or vampires and confuse the issue.
  9. Since trying it, it's never going to leave my load order. ... although I think that can be said of all kryptopyr's mods that I've used. Been using it since around Thanksgiving. My particular favorite is incorporating the hood + circlet fix with all the other fixes, and my thief playthroughs are enhanced by clutter pricing. Imo a no-brainer for STEP.
  10. Great, guys. I think I have enough to go on to hone in on a purchase. I actually do newspaper design so InDesign is a computer staple for me, and I'm finally working toward Photoshop proficiency as well, so this isn't strictly a gaming rig for me. Just mostly. Once again, thank you all so very much for taking the time to spell this out for me. I'm thrilled I found this community.
  11. Thanks so much for the detailed response ... I know enough to know there are problems I can't forsee, hehe. OK. Assuming I manage to swing for a card, a new motherboard AND a processor (unlikely, but ... we'll see) ... do you have recommendations for a motherboard and CPU? If not, I'll start slogging through reviews, but I'd certainly appreciate a jumping off point. :) EDIT: Alternatively, if I went for a card with just 2GB, would I still probably need to upgrade motherboard and CPU?
  12. Figure I might as well hijack this thread than start a new one. Trying to keep the forums tidy but mods, if you'd prefer no necro, please let me know So I'm finally in a position where I can justify some computer upgrades to my aging system. I definitely want more RAM, but I'm also looking to upgrade my graphics card ... which leaves me wondering if my motherboard also needs an upgrade. Problem is, I'm somewhat computer illiterate, so I'm hoping ya'll can provide some guidance. Let me know if there's other relevant info that would help. Current CPU: Intel® Coreâ„¢ i7-950 Current card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 470 (x2, actually, but won't be going that route this time) Current motherboard: GigaByte GA-X58A-UD3R Intel X58 Current power supply: Corsair CMPSU-850TX 80 Plus ... and I've got 6 GB RAM, which is top on my "to fix" list. Target card: GeForce GTX 780 ?? For cards, $500 is about my cutoff. I know absolutely NOTHING about motherboards, so I don't want a bottleneck or anything ... if that's even possible. -flail- Bonus question: I know you need matching cards for SLI, but it's possible to use one of my current cards to dedicate to PhysX, even with a new card, right?
  13. I personally really enjoy the changes to lockpicking (well, and stealth and pickpocketing too!) from Stealth Skills Rebalanced mod if you're looking for something to complement this mod. Much more rewarding gameplay imo ... but I'll stop before I go too far off topic :P lol.
  14. That makes sense. I was testing on an existing game (with an existing weather mod), I'll give it a go on a fresh one.
  15. Lol, I shouldn't post quickly. STEP extended doesn't add lighting mods either if I recall (would have to check) which, again, makes a lantern mod pointless imo (as much as I personally enjoy this one ... though I DO use darker nights and dungeons :) ) Core was misleading. I meant anything that is not a pack. Sorry (again! heh).
  16. Now THAT is a mod I would love to have. :)
  17. Ini edits worked beautifully. I may have fewer grasses, but the ones I do have are faaaaabulous. ;)
  18. Heh, I always assumed if I'm (me, the character not me, the player) good enough to pick even basic locks, I'm good enough to at least have an idea of how difficult a lock is going to be to pick. That aspect of lockpicking never broke immersion for me personally. :)
  19. I will do that, thanks! EDIT: D'oh, it even suggests that in the SFO images. Sorry, I just read the front :( @ torminater I'm almost certain VRAM is the problem, yes. It just seems that the extra grass + extra textures is too much. I hope to upgrade soonish; my rig was pretty beefy a few years ago but it's showing its age, alas :( lol @Vurt: Thanks. Those latest tree pics look amazing! :)
  20. So. I love this mod. I'm a girl, I like looking at flowers. My setup without it handles 1K outdoor texture packs just fine (I use mainly Skyrim Realistic Overhaul), 50+ FPS, rare hitching when spinning the camera but it's just that, rare. Unfortunately, with this mod active I get a ton of hitching, to the point I completely freeze up for several seconds when moving camera. Also unfortunately, I use the SkyRe with the AI addon, and wolves do things like circle you so spinning the camera is required and freezing gets me insta-killed. I'm not ready to give up on it yet, though. I'm looking for ways to improve performance at some quality loss. I'm going to try to DDSopt this beetch, even though STEP doesn't recommend that. First normals, but I suspect I'm going to have to lower texture sizes, period. Is there a point beyond which I might as well not bother? The other question I have is the "maxgrasstypespertexure" tweak. (I probably misspelled that here, whatever, you know the one I mean :P ). If I DON'T set this to 7, will I have fewer grass tufts to load and maybe gain some improvement there? Any suggestions would be appreciated. :)
  21. They can also be set as held rather than worn. Just an FYI. When you add in the fuel/pollen concept, I think they fit in well with vanilla lighting options. EDIT: Worth noting is the Paper Lantern does seem to still glow even when extinguished. It doesn't light up the area, but the item itself looks lit if that makes sense.
  22. OK. So I finally got around to finishing tweaks for my second playthrough and did a bit more testing. (FOR REAL, I am finally going to do that thief playthrough.) Anyway, I'm not sure if I messed something up somewhere, if I need to enable the wrongskymath, or if I'm getting weirdness by not having the weather plugin enabled right now. Basically sometimes looking at evening (6ish?) sun is SUPER red and makes everything else SUPER dark. However looking down at my toes is much brighter. Is this ... expected behavior? >.>; I'll try to do some more troubleshooting later but throwing this out there in case someone had a similar problem and already found a fix.
  23. Thank you both very much :) EDIT: I dunno if you've seen but there's an ENB for it in the works here.
  24. Sorry, I'm back! lol. Again with the idea that I want RCRN to be able to read the vanilla shaders n such, if the enbeffect.fx has this line: ... then that means I need to change the 1 to a zero to allow vanilla post-processing?
