Trees and tree lods mismatch
dreadflopp replied to dreadflopp's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Tried your remade LOD textures, big improvement! Thanks. I'm going to try the basic edition of skyrim flora overhaul too though. It looks strange when (like in the third example of my post above) a tree trunk grows straight up and suddenly change and becomes twisted. -
Trees and tree lods mismatch
dreadflopp replied to dreadflopp's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Thanks, finally had time to try a reinstall of skyrim flora overhaul. It didn't make any difference though. It is version 1.79e, cleaned it with tes5edit. I also tried vanilla ini's. Here are some examples of it happening. Not sure it is a LOD problem though? -
This question probably has been answered since I remember reading about it somewhere. I did search though but didn't find anything. My trees and tree lods doesn't match. When I get close to the trees they change shape completely. I have skyrim revisited installed. I have done som ddsopting.Â

you should try one of vanilla default settings. What do you mean with vanilla default settings? Vanilla ini:s? I have Installed Skyrim revisited (highest availabe resolution on textures, no more than 2k though)+immersive armors. I use all ini tweaks from Skyrim revisited guide except the z-fighting tweaks. I have ddsopted with 1k normals skyrim hd, searious hd, skyrim realistic overhaul, the official textures and all the mods that should be optimized according the STEP ddsopt guide. Have an AMD 7950 3gb card, 8 gb ram, win 8. 1920x1080 resolution. Yes. I mean Vanilla default ini's. But you can try IT also.Think we have ended up a little off-topic, but I'll try that. Don't think it'll work though. I think my best bet is to half-size normals for even more mods, lower resolution to 1k on some mods, remove mods or lower resolution. Removing skyrim hd, searious hd and skyrim realistic overhaul saves about 400 mb ram but haven't tested much and I don't like the result. I'll try reducing normals to 1k first on all mods (except WATER) and if that doesn't work I'll try a lower resolution and see how that looks.

Also saying that the main difference is the shadows is a bit of an understatement. Then it is just because you have not activated any other features. Brightness etc. are part of the color correction so they would obviously be the same as vanilla, since they are forced to have those values. You obviously know more than me about ENB :-), the improved shadows is just the thing I noticed most, also the main reason for me too use ENB.

Good find. I'll probably give it a whirl. How does it interact with the with the Occlusion Culling in Skyrim Project Optimization? Â As near as I can tell they are completely unrelated and should both work together. What are the main differences you see using this and say CoT & RLO w/o ENB? How much of a performance hit do you think you are taking? The main difference would be the much improved shadows from ENB. I can't stand the blocky vanilla shadows. The colours and brighness look the same with or without this ENB. Don't know about performance, haven't had time to test. I am currently struggling with getting my game stable. Constantly crashes at 2,9 GB ram.

I've tried a lot of ENB's and all of them have something I don't like. Decided to stick with the lightning and colours from COT and RLO and just add SMAA, AO and the improved shadows from ENB. I like the results. I used this ENB:Â https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/34014

Which ini setting was that?

My companion kept bumping in to me but it is almost the same place. Check the building straight ahead. I think it is the companions building (it has a horse head on the roof). It has a beam or log  on the roof which shows jagged edges when no AA is used. Also check the stairs to the left. Edit: Pic 1-4 looks the same since forcing AA through Catalyst control center didn't work. Picture 4 and 5 looks the same to me. They show MSAA 4x and 8x using settings in skyrim launcher/skyrimprefs. Picture 6-10 shows different AA combinations while using ENB. I see big no difference from Edge AA and SMAA. Picture 11 just shows that MSAA doesn't work while using ENB. This is maybe only true for amd cards?

I know sorry, I'll edit them. It confuses me to :)
-
Screen 7 is only using SMAA through ENB. AA switched of in launcher/skyrimprefs (same thing) and catalyst control center set to Use application settings. So no other AA.

Wait, sorry, MSAA works if set in skyrim launcher. SMAA works if using ENB. I have tried using each one of them as my only AA.

I can confirm that. SMAAÂ MSAA works if you set it in the launcher or skyrimprefs.ini. It does not seem to work (for me at least) if I use ENB.

Ok. Compared a lot of different settings. Forcing AA through Catalyst control center doesn't seem to work. SMAA 4x through skyrimprefs.ini looks good. I don't see any difference from raising it to 8x. If using ENB thoug, SMAA doesn't seem to work? MSAA and Edge AA does though. I think MSAA looks better. So if using ENB, use MSAA. IF not SMAA 4x. What other AA settings did you use? Is it just SMAA alone or in combination with hardware-AA? ty I use MSAAx4 through the launcher (or skyrimprefs.ini: iMultiSample=4). I haven't checked if that actually works though. I don't think it looks like it's working. It does look like it's working. Also, if you're running 4xMSAA, why do you need SMAA too? Just trying different setups. I had a lot jagged edges using MSAA so I figured I'd try SMAA and edge AA. Really have no idea which one or which combination to use.

Can you post a before (off) and after (on) shot for SMAA so the others can see it in action? I'm not currently using SMAA or I'd do it myself.Sure. The pictures turned out a little dark but you can clearly see the difference. I use AA through the skyrim launcher too, not sure if that works or not. Doesn't look like it. This is with MSAA off: This is with MSAA on: I think he asked for a comparison of SMAA, not MSAA. Oops, typo. Thats a SMAA comparison. I'll edit my post.

SMAA through ENB works fine for me. I also have amd 7970. I don't use Radeon Pro. Shift+pause is the hotkey for turning SMAA on/off in game if used with ENB. Try turning off Edge AA in the ENB to see a greater difference when turning SMAA on.

According to your install instructions of Langleys Wood Metal and Stone Texture Workshop 1.4a we should exclude Textures/architecture/highhrothgar/hhfloor01.dds if using SRO. Should we also exclude Textures/architecture/highhrothgar/hhfloor01_n.dds? -
Skyrim is of course a fantasy world but if it is supposed to mimick the norse during the middle ages, or the viking era (700-1200 if I remember correctly), people wore underwear. Men wore long legged (full length) underpants and a long sleeved undertunic. Women wore an underdress. If you were rich they were made of silk. But who knows how fashion works in tamriel.

Tried again, was not able to recreate the results. Which is actually good. But I wonder what I did wrong the first time and if any other mods are corrupt.
