It was SeriousHD 1.23 that was the cause. I am using skyrim realistic overhaul and thus have deleted the files I should have in SeriousHD. The cause was DDSopt. I had DDSopt:ed it with setting according to the guide and decreased the size of the normals to 1kx1k. The version before DDSopt works fine. I will try again and see if i get the same results.

Maybe, I not at home at the moment. But it's outside whiterun too. Mostly around water. But it looks like the real texture is underneath and some mist/fog is causing this effect.
-
I was using SkyRealism ENB with particle effect fix but I uninstalled it and it still looks like this. My install is Skyrim Revisited and harvest overhaul but without Bring out your dead (which causes immidiet CTD for me) and without magic duel.

I obviously missed something when installing Skyrim Revisited? Any idea which mod it is that needs to be re-installed?
-
Thanks. I downloaded lastest stable driver. I'll try the beta. And RadeonPro. Is the uninstaller recommended before every driver upgrade?

Just tried my new gigabyte 7970 3gb ghz card and it works good with skyrim revisited. I have only ran around a bit outside whiterun but it seems to give good framerates with skyrim revisted 2k and enb. With 1k normals on official bsa:s and the three major texture overhauls. Not too pleased with the lack of settings in the amd software though but maybe it doesn't matter. Far cry 3 didn't work that well though. I think it was ambient occlusion or something giving a blue shine on rocks.

Haha you are right Besidilo. I looked back at my browser history at the benchmarks and couldn't find anything to back my statement. Very strange haha. Must have been tired. So I think I'll cancel my Nvidia card order then. How about ENB and amd cards? They work well together? Other bugs with amd? Edit: Canceled my order and ordered a gigabyte 7970 3GB GHz edition
-
After watching benchmarks showing that nvidia outperforms amd in skyrim and that end developers have problems with amd i ordered the nvidia card.

Damn it I can't decide. Now I'm leaning towards a 3GB amd, maybe 7950. I have read a lot on various (swedish) overclocking forums. Mostly everyone states that that the Nvidia cards really can't use 4GB memory because of the 256-bit memory bus which is a bottle neck on the cards. They can actually only use just above 2GB. Some people states that this is not completly correct since they can have 4GB of textures in memory but only render 2GB of these textures thus a 4GB card could help reduce stuttering since they don't have to load textures from ram. I don't know how correct this is as I have no idea how a graphics card handles textures. Someone mentioned that skyrim with lots of high reolution texture mods probably is the only game that could make use of +2GB VRAM with a 256-bit memory bus. The amd cards on the other hand has a 384-bit memory bus which lets them make full use of their 3GB memory. And are cheaper. Does anyone know of any good performance tests which compares nvidia and amd cards on modded skyrim?
-
Thanks for your input. I'll get a 670 4GB card. No sli though, thats too expensive for me and I would probably have to get a new PSU too. Thanks!

I have installed Skyrim Revisited but my GTX 570 1280 MB GPU is struggling even with 1k textures so I'm going to buy a new graphics card. I wanted to ask you Neovalen for advice. I know that you are busy updating and working with Skyrim Revisited and understand if you don't have time for this question that I know have been discussed in several posts here on STEP. You seem to be well informed though (not implying others aren't) so I figured that I'd ask you for an advice, if you have the time. I have been reading quite alot in the STEP forums and there seems to be many opinions about what to get and how much vram skyrim can use before it starts to ctd. My question is if you think Gigabyte GTX 670 4GB (https://www.gigabyte.eu/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4375#ov) is overkill. Is 4GB VRAM necessary? Should i get an amd 3GB card instead? From what I understand skyrim crashes before it reaches 3GB of VRAM use. If so maybe I should get the cheaper amd card? I have never had an amd card so i don't know what to expect from them and if there are any hassels or features missing that I'm used to have with NVIDIA cards. I want to be able to install skyrim revisited with 2k textures and use ENB. Spec: Resolution: 1920x1080 on 1 monitor, not planning to get any more CPU i5-2500K, can be overclocked and stable at 4.2-4.4 GHz 8 GB RAM windows 8

Problem with Sky UI installation through MO
dreadflopp replied to SatyriconX's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Experienced this too when installing through MO. You can choose the option to install anyway. It will recognize SKSE when you start the game. -

When trying to open Alternate start - live another life in the creation kit i get an error message saying:   Invalid file selection   Multiple master files selected for load. Load operation aborted. Any idea why? -

Try it out yet? I never even used 12.7 cause of bugs in that version.... notes say that is fixed in 12.8 though. MO 1.28 works fine for me. Installing Skyrim revisited and doing tes5edits and noticed that Consistent Older People is updated to 1.4. I guess it needs new instructions regarding what to edit? -

Be sure to manually delete the ini files when reinstalling. They are not deleted during uninstall. Just a friendly reminder :-) -

I'm no expert so I'm just guessing but could it be that you are running out of vram? You could use a tool to monitor how much vram is being used. There is a mod that I have yet to try that is called moss rocks. If you are using that maybe it renders moss on the wall and it flickers, maybe because of low vram. This is just speculation but I'd try to monitor vram use and deactivate moss rocks. Edit: I have also experienced flickering moss but on rocks. I have also experienced textures being black. Don't know if it's vram, enb or a lightning mod that causes this but restarting the game solved it. -

I saw in another thread that someone that's using mod organizer misunderstood how it handles the .ini files. If you are using mod organizer be sure to edit the files through that program since it doesn't use the default ones. -

Neovalen, do you recommend using the same FOV console tweak as STEP does? -

Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback
dreadflopp replied to Neovalen's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
@neovalen, I like your guide and I am planning to use more of it soon. For now I only use parts of it. I have an idea/feature request. How about making it easier to see which mods in Skyrim Revisited is included in STEP, which ones are but are edited in Skyrim Revisited and which one are new if compared to STEP. . It would also be nice to see which mods Skyrim Revisited removed from STEP. This could be done by colouring the mods titles which is practical but maybe unestetic. It could also be done by separate lists. I know Skyrim Revisited is not STEP but using mod organizer it's easy to use both and using Skyrim Revisited as an add-on to STEP. I think these features would make it even easier. Cheers! -

@satyre. Thanks. Information like that would be great. People like me would than be able to use the guide without installing all mods. I didn't install unp blessed body or fitness body as they were not in my taste. Therefore I should install the meshes from unp.
