  1. Resurrecting this thread to give a shout out to DayZ, which I've been playing when I get bored of babysitting my STEP mod updates.  Quite a bit different than your standard shoot 'em up zombie game. The atmosphere is super creepy, and its fairly challenging to survive thanks to elements like hunger, thirst, temperature and blood loss that you have to combat as you move around the massive map to find weapons and supplies. It has a few bugs due to the ArmaII source code and the fact that its still an Alpha, but I'm fairly hooked.
  2. Sweet! Thanks for the ideas, I'll give them a try this weekend and report back. Edit: after trying both variations on the bat file approach mentioned above, I still couldn't get it run SBW from Wrye.  No doubt, it's user error... :><: I have sbw.exe in the skyrim root folder, alongside skse-loader.exe and tesv.exe.  When I launch skyrim from within WB using the icon, it wouldn't trigger sbw... What I did do, that seems to work, is I dropped a shortcut to sbw.exe into the Apps folder, which was recognized by WB.  It created a small icon for it and launches the game as it should.
  3. Hey y'all - anyone know if you can trigger Simple Borderless Window to run through Wrye Bash when launching Skyrim with SKSE? Maybe through the Apps folder? I suppose I could try to set Skyrim to run in windowed mode at my desired resolution (1920x1080) via SkyrimLauncher and SkyrimPrefs.ini tweak, then launch Skyrim from WB and alt-tab to run SBW...? Anyone here use it? Thoughts?
  4. No, can't say that I have tried it. I'm sure that one of my 6950s would do okay with Skyrim, but if it ain't broke...ya know?
  5. @nico Why not disable vsync and use a framerate capper?
  6. My neighborhood in Portland, Oregon is going bananas this year. It sounds like there are howitzers going off. Madness. My dog is in a state of constant fear.
  7. Looks pretty solid. I'm liking just how many different NPCs the author has updated for someone that doesn't consider themselves a modder. Good find!
  8. I play with crossfire enabled on the machine in my signature. I can't say I've had any stability problems that I would blame on crossfire directly. Now, the dual gpu vs. single gpu debates are many, and there's plenty of considerations to be made before making the plunge (e.g. power supply output). Just my two cents.
  9. Not sure how this happened but I went to fire up Wyre Bash and got the following error: After a bit of googling, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling WB (298 standalone ver) to no avail. I also tried deleting the language .txt files in \Mopy\bash\l10n per one thread I found, but no luck. Any ideas? Edit: Resolved. Â I did a complete removal of WB and BOSS, then redownloaded the installers and did a clean install. Â That seems to have done the trick. Â Not sure what I did to cause this problem, but all seems to be working again as normal.
  10. Thanks, z. I got my step numbers incorrect in my edit above. I merged the 3.2 and 3.1b files together. The only overwrite was for the one file I noted above.
  11. Awesome, z. Thanks for the detailed direction. I will try this in the morning and report back if I run into issues. Edit:  Assembled all files/directories as above. I had to combine the textures folders from the DLC Tweaks mods in step 2 and 3 above into a single DLC_Tweaks folder due to the way the HRDLC_Fix-START.bat file sets paths. Only one file (armor/daedric/daedricshield_n.dds) was overwritten in combining the 3.1b and 3.2 Tweaks. Ran the START bat. Error log came back empty (a good sign), and I verified a few sample files had been moved/deleted according to HRDLC_Fix.log and HRDLC1-2 folders (step 7 above). Ran DDSOpt on HRDLC1, HRDLC2 and Vanilla textures folders, then replaced the two textures from the USKP thread after I confirmed they were not fixed by DDSOpt in the log. Created a complex BAIN with both Vanilla and HRDLC included. Now I will remove the .bsa files for the HRDLC from the .ini files and I should be good to go.
  12. So if I understand you correctly, I can unpack the hrdlc using DDSopt, then overwrite with the files from the USKP, DLC fix and DLC tweaks and run the whole thing through DDSopt and create a BAIN? I wasn't planning to use the Optimized DLC because I'm running 2GB of VRAM. Thanks Fri!
  13. Great, thanks s4n. One other question: previously, there were a few additional steps involving fixes to the HRDLC in the SIG. Â They involved merging the HD Textures DLC Fix and Eiwyn's HighRes TexturePack DLC Tweaks via a batch script before processing with DDSopt. Â Is that process still recommended for the diehards among us? As of this moment, I have been following the DDSopt wiki and omitting those steps because they've been removed from the SIG wiki. Â I wasn't sure the rationale for omitting those steps and the bat file is no longer available on the Wiki.
  14. Are the USKP texture fixes still needed? I am running a DDSopt on my Vanilla textures.bsa and the two HRDLC .bsa files using DDSopt pre3. If following the SIG correctly, I should just use the loose files version of the HD DLC Textures fix with the BAINs I create after running DDSopt, right?
  15. Sweet! Finally some attention on the AMD side. Hoping for reduced micro stuttering!
  16. I hear ya. NMM does require a bit of manual input to make sure that it is capturing the correct mod, or more often as is the case, the correct variation of a mod. For example, I prefer the v1 Ash Pile retexture - but NMM continues to tell me that v2 is the latest, so I have to ignore it. Perhaps that's not the best example, but when it can be decieving if you don't update regularly.
  17. I'm using NMM to track and Wrye as my installer. I created a backup of all my STEP mods and point NMM to that directory, rather than my Bash Installers directory. This way I can maintain a stable STEP install using Wyre and track mods to see when they are updated. This may seem redundant, but it helps keep a sterile STEP install without accidentally overwriting something.
  18. Thanks z. Last thing I want to do is create more work for anyone. I've just now gotten a chance to spend some time getting my install up to date after a long stretch. Hope you got Skyrim Unplugged going to avoid the update blues, 1.6 is awesome but creates a complete mess of some mods, stick with 1.5.26 till the CK is updated and mods are able to be fixed. Sure do. Learned my lesson with the 1.5 release. I had just gotten STEP where I wanted it and got hosed by auto-update. Oh well, I consider that a practice run.
  19. Thanks z. Last thing I want to do is create more work for anyone. I've just now gotten a chance to spend some time getting my install up to date after a long stretch.
  20. Just wanted to make a suggestion about the structure of the bug tracking threads. It might be useful to keep the confirmed bugs and recommended workarounds aggregated in the first post, and sticky the thread. That way, new users (or folks like me who finally got time to update my STEP install to the recent release) can quickly get up to speed. Not a criticism of the work or good discussion happening in the thread, just something for consideration by the mods.
  21. Yep, thanks for the clarification, fri. I started following the DDSopt guide and got as far as the "Repair the HRDLC Textures" section yesterday. I jumped to the SIG and started following the previous instructions (DLC_fix, DLC Tweaks, bat file)...when I came back to it this morning, I noticed the instructions changed on the wiki. Is it safe to assume I can skip the DLC repair, complete the DDSopt optimization of the HRDLC, then just use the BAINs I create along with the Hi-Res DLC Optimized? Or is that redundant?
  22. I happened to be going through the guide and noticed step 3 had been revised. What's changed from the original direction?
  23. z - Just need some clarification. In section 2.4 - Texture Fixes, you extract the two fixed texture files from the link into their respective folders within the optimized STD textures folder, right? If that's the case, let me know and I'll add a line or two in the wiki providing that direction.
  24. Looks as though version 1.0 is out https://www.darkcreations.org/forums/files/file/205-unofficial-skyrim-patch/ Edit - think this may be old news. Tried to delete but wasn't able.
