Aeradom replied to Gernash's topic in Unofficial Fallout 4 Guides
Something that I think should be added to the guide is your own system specs plus how well the game runs on your own rig. That gives someone who's looking at it a baseline of what to expect and if they should look at the performance options. Edit: I see that you edit the .ini prior to installing MO2 and I'm curious why? I'm not familiar with MO2 at all, but I would think it be wiser to do it the same way as with MO and that be doing the .ini edits for a profile. Skipped to the end of the guide and saw that it doesn't work so nevermind on that. -

Just want to say I appreciate you putting the work into this guide. I was really dreading trying to figure everything out on my own and remember what mods to use or not. One mod that I don't find on the list that I consider essential for my next playthrough is one of the Minutemen Overhaul mod. I'm not advocating it should be added as it's not something that will be used in every playthrough. But as someone who is doing that, it really is needed. With that being said, I'm curious which of the mod you would use, Minutemen 2.0 or We are the Minutemen, and where you would put them in the mod order. -
I would like to add a bit of a contrarian's point of view as I see the game in a more negative light. Like the previous poster, I too didn't have any expectations of No Man's Sky as I didn't know the game was even coming out until I saw a friend playing it on the PS4. From the limited time I spent watching him, the game looked quite fun. In fact, once I got home I went out and preordered it to make sure I could play it as soon as it launched. And you know what? It was a lot of fun too. But that feeling faded quickly. The problem with No Man's Sky is that, like the previous poster said, this is a game that you should only play in short bursts. That's because you'll run out of unique things to do soon after getting a hold of the games mechanics and moderate upgrades, so all that you are left with is the core aspects of the game that aren't that much fun. Sure there is a vast and procedurally generated universe which offers all sorts of different organisms and biomes. And if you're a botanist/zoologist at heart and are excited at the idea of cataloging all the different sorts of plants and animals you'll find, then this game won't disappoint. For the rest of us, you'll soon discover that this game is akin to an ocean that's only an inch deep. To better understand why I say the game isn't fun, allow me to discuss the core features as I see them in the game and those are fighting, crafting, and surviving (excluding exploration as already mentioned that above). Let's start off with the fighting aspect of No Man's Sky. When you first start out you'll find that the enemies you face (the Sentinels, creatures on the ground and the pirates in space) can be quite intimidating. But after only a few marginal upgrades you realize how laughable incompetent they are. To give you an example of this, probably the most dangerous situation you can find is being on a high-security planet (that's one where the Sentinels will attack you on sight) that also has a rare resource where once you pick it up, you immediately have a 3 star rating and get an elite sentinel dog that packs far more punch that it's drone counterparts. At first, it was quite exhilarating to be dodging back and forth to avoid laser beams as I scurried around collecting these gravi-balls that sold for quite a bit. But once I upgraded my multi-tool the second time (one that could be classified as a mid-tier upgrade), I found it more efficient to just kill them and use one of the shield-restoring plants that are everywhere on the surface. After that point, combat becomes just as mindless as any other aspect of the game and more a chore than something to be engaged with. Speaking of upgrades, the problem with the crafting here is that there really isn't much to do here. You can't build bases on the planets in space, you don't have the ability to customize your ship, and you don't see what you look like so you can't even change the appearance of yourself. And even if you could build those things, once you move on from that system it's very hard to return to it as it can be difficult to navigate back to. The only thing you can really craft are the upgrades to your multi-tool and ship. But as I discussed in the previous paragraph, you quickly realize that it's pointless as there isn't a need beyond what you can get with the core multi-tool plus the rapid fire attachments. It's also not like there is this girth of varied recipes to find either as I quickly started running into messages of "already known recipe" after spending a great deal of time on a couple of planets. In fact, about the only thing you'll find yourself crafting after a decent amount of time spent in the game are the environmental shields which bring me to the survival aspect of the game. With the aforementioned shields, you'll only really need those on planets that have extreme environments. But there are so many planets out there, that an argument could be made of why you'd waste your time on those. Assuming for the moment you are one of those that just want to discover everything, even when you do choose to stay on those planets, all you need to do is find a bit of shelter (which is easy with a grenade launcher that comes standard on about every multi-tool once you start hitting around 20-ish slots) and after a minute or so your environmental levels are back to full strength. You do have to refill things like your life support system and reload your weapons, but plutonium is so prevalent on planets that you aren't going to run into an issue there either. You wanna know what genre this has the most in common with honestly... Mobile time sink game. The difference though is that unlike those games where you have timers which prevent you from putting lots of consecutive hours into it (without spending money anyways), with this game it's because it's pretty easy to get bored with it. Honestly, this game feels more like a better fit on mobile devices as the graphics aren't that demanding, the size of the game is like two GB, and as something you come back to and play in short doses, this game would have pretty long legs. With all that being said, had there of been something really great at the end of the journey that made it all meaningful, then I would be more forgiving as far as it's shortcomings. Sadly, as I discovered there wasn't any such pot of gold at the end of this rainbow. To put it bluntly, the conclusion to both their end game goals suck and are a complete disappointment. If you want to know what they are exactly I'll put it in spoilers below. But what I can say is that if you are still playing in hopes that there's something really cool at the center of the galaxy, then you are just setting yourself up for a letdown. In case you skipped to the bottom looking for a summary, here it is; unless you are someone that likes to play botanist, this isn't a game for you. Yes, there's a lot of planets to explore, but there's not a lot of fun to be had once you get to those planets. I would advise anyone considering purchasing the game to hold off until the price drops to around $20 or $30. Not only do I think that price is more in line with what the game is worth, but hopefully by then they'll of added in features to make the game feel less like a drag.

Yes DFD has been deleted, but my point is had you of asked this question a couple of days ago, you wouldn't have access* to its direct replacement is all. -

Good timing thought on asking that question as RDO was just put up a day or so ago. -

So funny story; took a week or so break while I've been getting ready for my A+ Certification exam and now have some free time to try and finish mods and actually play the game. I was skipping through and saw the above post and it reminded me of a mod I wanted to check on but couldn't remember it's now. I googled follower overhaul mods, no luck, I looked over GEMS but still no such luck. After poking around, I finally found the link to the mod that proceeded it and figured out what the mod was called... Relationship Dialog Overhaul. Yeah, that was a bit of a facepalm. Anyways, had another issue though, well not an issue just more of a curiosity. How come we don't use the Enhanced Lighting patch for Immersive Citizens? -
A Few Questions Regarding Character Section of SRLE
Aeradom replied to Aeradom's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports (retired)
Ah! That makes a lot of sense then. Speaking of the Eyes of Beauty, is it packaged in a way that it'll work right, specifically the elven one? I ask because instead of the files being in like the base mod, it's instead structured as Texture/actors/character/eyes/EyesofBeauty/ElvenEyes/ then files. Is that not a problem I guess? -
Ran into a big of a snag installing some mods and instead of continuing, though I shoudl resolve them first. 1) Asked this in the main thread but will ask again here, does the Eyes of Beauty as installed work for NPC's? I ask because from the page it says that you need the NPC pack. And when I loaded it, I didn't see a difference. 2) I am so confused with this Better Males mod install. Okay so I thought at first that I could just set the following as Data (then the data below it as data of course) and I'd be good to go: Smooth Normal MapBody Hair Level 3Turns out that doing it that way doesn't install all the necessary files which I find out when I go to look for the ones to delete and find they aren't there. So now I'm kind of confused. How do I get all these things into one nice neat little package? Where then I can delete and copy all the rest that I need too. I thought I have another question but I'll have to think on it because I can't recall it at the moment.
-
The reason I ask this question is that after looking over things on the mod page, it would seem like the mod that I'm suppose to download is the "Player" one as it's the main one. And the Update is that way as well. If this is intended only to be used for the "Player" is there any harm with downloading the NPC option? It's weird because in the description it mentions NPC as well but unless I'm totally missing something, it would seem like this will only do it for the player. I'm probably wrong, so just tell me where I am and I'll be good.

Oh of course! I just realized that the optional ones would be listed on the left... it being labeled Animations Optional made me think to download both like with the optional. My bad. -

I'm sure this is answered somewhere but couldn't find it so hoping someone can explain this: I'm a bit confused by the wording of the Horses Revamped mod instructions. So it says "Only using base animations". So I'm assuming that for both Horses Revamped and the Animations Optional I'm not installing those with that mod either? I'd assume there has to be an .esp right? Horses RevampedAuthor: DServant Version: 1.0 (Animations Optional) Special Installation: Do not install the following file(s) and/or folder(s): meshes/actors/horse/animations/idle.hkx (Only Using Base Animations)meshes/actors/horse/behavior folder (Only Using Base Animations)meshes/actors/horse/characters folder (Only Using Base Animations)DSerHorsesRevamped.esp (Only Using Base Animations)Mod Notes: This mod revamps horse animations to be more realistic. -
Worldspace - NAM0 and NAM9
Aeradom replied to Nebulous112's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports (retired)
First off, I'm the novice in this area so forgive me if this is a dumb question but how is this only being discovered now? It would seem that the performance issues should have shown up at some point prior to this right? Is this something you'd actually notice in game (I mean in the world space itself not just the stuttering). And second: My first thought when I read this was. "What does Star Wars have to do with this?" Like I said, new to this whole advanced modding thing. -

I actually agree on this one. Unlike with the guards who make no sense to hire mercenaries to come for you, people with money that suspect you would have no inhibitions with hiring thugs to do their dirty work. -
It wasn't as much Falskaar as it was all the different compatibility patches that bugged me. But if the whole thing doesn't affect performance than I agree, I'll just let it be.
-
I have two separate questions: The first is what exactly is the performance impact as well as stability impact by having Falskaar in the game? I ask this because I don't really need to have this installed on this playthrough as I haven't even gone through Dragonborn or Dawnguard. Because of this, Falskaar is something I could do without. But before trying to take it out of the setup, I'm wondering if there is any real reason to do so in terms of the performance gains or having a more streamlined plugins/mod list. And the second question is just how complicated is it to remove Falskaar from SRLE. I haven't quite finished putting in all the mods is why I bring this up and haven't really had a chance to analyze just how difficult it would be to get the mods setup for a playthrough without Falskaar.

Note sure if you saw, but I'm curious what you are away of Complete Fast Travel Overhaul and if you considered replacing Better Fast Traveling as it's more up to date and from my understanding more compatible with mods. -
I know this is a nitpick, and I know this is me whining, but I wanted to whine! Look, as a perfectionist, I admire the drive to get every single texture/mesh optimal. And for most people, it's not an issue I'm sure. But installing these textures are a pain in the rear, especially when I'm installing a big mod for only a couple of textures/meshes. I wish instead of the super-detailed-advanced setup, there was an option for a few very specific mods that covered, if not everything, like 95-99%. I mean, I very much doubt I'll ever really notice that much a difference to warrant all this attention to detail. I'll tell you where I had to stop was with Vivid Landscapes with so much to wade through to find just a few here and there stuff that is covered by other mods and I'm just like, "I wish I just installed this mod and could live without those others!" I'll get through this because I know it's worth it but man I wish I was just playing the game right now. All these small mods, or at least texture mods that cover much of the same stuff... I could just merge them into one super mod when I'm done right? I just want to clean up my Mod Organizer list, because you know what, I like to be optimal as well! I do appreciate all the work, effort and time that went into this just... I needed a minute to rant. I'm good now. Oh and if there is somewhere a pack that is like what I described, I don't want to hear about it. Because were I to find out there was one... I probably would go insane. Edit: And I know, Hishtup did basically just this, but I'm choosing to ignore because I've already finished but should someone come across this and feel my agnst, you should check it out: Pretty Much Vanilla Skyrim

Can I use these mods?
Aeradom replied to Chaos_Kitty_768's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports (retired)
It's been like a week since I started modding this game so I feel ya on that one. -
I've been thinking, I post a lot of stuff on here about this and that, most of the time it's small stuff. Not sure which forum it was on, but it occurred to me that I was creating a lot of topics that really probably weren't warranted. So I decided to start putting them in the "news" thread. But then got to thinking that if I do that, and no one responds, it's gonna look a bit spammish. I know what you what your thinking, "Why do you care?" Quite frankly, I don't know, but it bugs me. So, is it better to create a new topic (after doing the usual searching to make sure a topic doesn't exist of course) or to post in one of the megatopics like the SRLE news thread?

Is there a reason this uses Better Fast Traveling instead of Complete Fast Travel Overhaul? And if there isn't is there any issue with me using this mod instead? I recalled that the Better Fast Traveling Mod was on the Masterlist for Dangerous, Outdated and superseded mods for the following reason: It doesn't seem like it's been updated yet (last upload was in 2014) so it would seem that I'd be better off going with CFTO. Any thoughts? -

When I turn on Vividian ENB, I noticed that my FPS went from a solid 60 FPS to 50 FPS. That's a bit too much for my tastes so I think I'll use the performance one. The question I have though is in regards to an old thread I found and I didn't to ask there and rez the thread (though maybe I should... I don't know). Just curious if the DOF, Ambient Occlusion, and Cloud Shadows are still a thing I need/can turn off? Addendum: The above isn't a big concern, though, just switching over to Performance brought me back up to a solid 60 FPS. Still, though, If I can squeeze a bit more out of it, always happy to do so. I'm actually surprised the Performance version isn't standard considering the hit it did to my system. Granted my computer is not a power house, but I still think it's above the baseline. -
Actually, followed the SRLE version of the instructions but yeah. It wasn't the setup that bothered me but the actual processing. When I wasn't seeing those files in there, I started to think I might have done something wrong. But yeah I did a test and saw no purple texture so I guess things are alright.
-
Call it lack of self-confidence or being overly cautious, but this is the first time I've done this sort of thing with this program and I'd really like to know if I did this correctly. It been so much easier if I could have found a video tutorial for it but, beggars can't be choosers. Something that threw me off in particular was the fact that when doing it with Falskaar, I didn't find any "*_msn.dds" either time. Is that, normal that sometimes they won't be there? Oh and yeah is there a way to test it or verify it worked?
