@gernash That's what I thought. But seeing as this is a bigger change than just updating the mod version, not to mention this being your guide, just wanted to do double check. I also wanted to be sure it wouldn't conflict with anything. Fixed. -

@Gernash I have OCD, I like keeping things organized. But as the thread is yours, I will accede to your wishes. Something I wanted to check with you before changing the wiki is if you wanted to continue using the loose version or change it to the new batch version instead. I know you said last night you prefer batch but wanted to make sure before I changed something as big as that. Mod in question is FAR if you don't recall. -

I don't know if this is an issue, but I know that the UFOP team has said there's a lot that they can't fix. None of that is what you are working on right? I've never done any xEdit on anything other than weapon and armor mods to merge the leveled lists so I don't know what to tell you on that. -

@Gernash I get the importance of knowing your load order of course. But if you are proposing (which I might have misunderstood), to have one set in stone load order that must be followed for everything to work just right, that's where things get a bit iffy for me. Like I said, I might have misunderstood. If you are just referring to the order of the mod list then I'm completely on board with that. I thought you were talking about doing that sort of thing with the load order. As to the install of settlement mods in regards to SKE, what I'm doing because I think it works better is to install all the mods that SKE edits first, then putting SKE at the end so that the esp's in it replace the ones above. That way, in case I need to remove SKE for any reason, I'm not having to reinstall ten mods to get the esps back. BUT, if you didn't want to go that route and still install SKE first (which I grant you probably wouldn't be so bad when you know for sure what mods are in and what aren't as I don't at the moment), I'd still recommend installing as is. What you can do instead of going to file tree and hiding them, you can go over to Optional esps tab and move any esps you want from the "available esps" section to the "optional esps" section. This way, you don't need to reinstall the mod to get them back should you need them but they also aren't cluttering up your load order. It's one of the truly marvelous things about MO in my opinion. Lastly, have you seen this mod? https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/3149/? That mod is so stupidly good for it to be so damn simple! There's no way I'd play a game without that! Edit: Oh, and have I mentioned the version font on the MO style sheet? I hate to pester you but it's really hard to tell version numbers with the way it is now. I can do it, just not sure which one of these options are for it. Edit 2: Doesn't the Vault-Tec DLC make the settlement management software mod redundant? -

FYI Modular Kitchen just redirects to Alternate Settlements. Can someone confirm though I'm not an idiot (I mean I am, but in this situation in particular). -

Ah okay I understand that. See I've just been installing SKE after all the housing mods (except for Scrapping mod that says explicitly to put last). But I suppose this works. Though the additional instruction needs to be below the FOMOD for clarity. Wouldn't it better though to move it to optional esp so that it's there incase you want to use it without having to reinstall the whole thing? -

What is going on with OCDecorator? The first instrucion has you double click the mod to hide the .esp but to my knowledge you can't do that unless you go around the fomod. I'm not sure why we're hiding the .esp, but isn't it better if you are going to, to do that after installing and just right clicking on the mod then doing that? -

You ain't coming across as an ass, we're just having a disagreement which I think is healthy with a project like this. I'm not going to pretend I know as much about modding as you but what I do know is when something is just too much work for too little reward. It's far more inconvenient to have a set load order that everyone must follow because it makes it so inflexible to future changes and forces everyone into a tiny box. It is one thing if you just have the patches at the end of the load order like STEP does. But say if you want to add another mod in the future; you are going to then have to test where to put it because you won't be relying on LOOT. And if a new major update to a mod comes out, it breaks it all. Have you ever thought that maybe you are just working too hard to get that square peg to fit into that round hole? If it's really this much work to get them to work together, I'm honestly not even going to try when I can just snip out a couple of mods and move on. It's what I did with the bathing in Skyrim mod; I didn't want it so I eliminated that and the associated patch to get it to work. It would be different if we were talking about something like Skyrim where things are pretty static (well they were as of a few months ago). But with so many changes going up, and new mods coming out, I'm just not going to be able to step away from LOOT entirely and I don't think many will be. Oh, and still looking for info on how to make the version number white so it's easier to read. -

Okay, I found the tool to edit but how do I know which of these options is the version number? -

Aeradom replied to Gernash's topic in Unofficial Fallout 4 Guides
Oh right, I don't know why I thought that. But why mess with the load order and not rely on Loot? If exceptions have to be made, like loading mod X after mod Y then you can do that in LOOT. As far as the Theme, I'm not talking about the background color. I mean like how the priority numbers are white, can you make the version number that way as well? -

Oh and one more thing; please change the theme so that the version number is in white instead of green. Makes it much easier to see. I would change it but not sure how :( (for myself I mean). -

Wait so we're no longer following the format as laid out in the preset dividers? I thought you said that was the recommended route. Second question: Why is Texture Optimization Project not on the list? I know you said you use it and I believe you said it helps. If that's the case, shouldn't that be on here? -
Are people too soft today? Will there be consequences?

We can dream about lofty hypotheticals or deal with the realities of the current situation and adjust accordingly. A true democracy would be WORSE than the current system we have in place. The fact is, the average citizen cannot be trusted to be able to have either the knowledge or the wisdom to handle the topics that are discussed in the chambers of government. And even assuming that we had the perfect education system, the average citizen still would not be qualified to speak on such issues. That's because those average citizens have jobs to go and families to take care of; they do not have the time to research the differences between Shi'a and Sunni or know the effects of an agriculture bill that is being brought to a vote next week. In fact, the very thing you recommend (that being the engagement of society) is at least a part to blame for the current gridlock. I'm not entirely sure why or even when the change took place. However, I know that ever since 2010 and the Tea Party insurrection, both parties have been forced to cater to the extremes of their bases. That's because these career politicians are afraid that should they worked with the other party to pass something, which would involve at least some compromise, then they won't even make it to the next general election as they will probably be replaced in the primaries by someone more closely aligned with the views of the party base. In fact, the only time we ever see real progress on an issue is when a politician isn't running for re-election. We saw this during the Affordable Care Act debates as the only reason that law was passed was because Ben Nelson cast the deciding vote in favor of the law, knowing that he wouldn't ever have to face the consequences (I'm sure the 100$ million in Medicaid funding didn't hurt). Which brings me to the other issue and that is these career politicians that exist today. As much we throw shade at politicians, they do serve a vital role as being the ones encharged with making those hard and informed decisions on our behalf. In the US, this worked very well at the dawn of my nation as the politicians, while at times being fiercely divided on an issue, still recognized they were all Americans and understood what that meant. But more than that, these politicians would spend a lot of the time at home doing the work necessary to support their families because for them, being a politician was a duty and not a job in and of itself. However, the fundamental difference between the politician I referred to and a career politician, is that they are seeking to serve their own needs and NOT that of the nation. To put it another way, their purpose isn't to make the country better or even get something passed in congress; it's to keep their jobs. So how do you fix it? Well in part you have to get rid of the cancer that is career politicians. And the best way to do that is through term limits. If history has proven anything, the only time any of these politicians grow a backbone or get things done is when they have nothing to lose. As to the radicalization of the parties, that is a much tougher nut to crack. Something you touched on that is true here is that the politicians are ultimately a reflection of society. And as a society, we've become so intolerant towards opposing ideas that no longer are you just wrong in your views, but you are evil or and idiot. Those sorts of labels only serve to drive us deeper into our own camps. This is only inflamed by a media that is heavily biased to the point that they actively manipulate the information they put out to further their own agendas. CNN was caught doing this a few weeks ago when it edited the tapes of an African American woman who appeared in the original report to be calling for an end to violence. Instead, the woman in question was arguing to take the violence to the white suburbs and "burn their houses down". I'll give you a great example of how toxic everything has become and you need to look no further than the issue of racism. Society will only tolerate one viewpoint on this issue and that is that cops, along with whites, are all racist and that they are the reason that blacks aren't successful in the country. If you attempt to bring up issues such as crime rates in those neighborhoods, or the disproportionate number of deaths of blacks by blacks, you are labeled a racist and shouted down. And when you can no longer speak about the facts without fear or repercussions, then no progress can ever be made on anything. If you aren't following along with the hive mind, then they don't want to hear from you. This was made crystal clear to me when I saw a CNN town hall meeting on the topic of Race in America. It was billed as this great forum where there was going to be an "open" conversation on the subject of racism. In principle, it's a good idea as more than anything we need an open forum to talk about this heated issue. But what did I find when I tuned in? Not only was only one side of the issue being portrayed (that being the whites are all racist ones), but that when I watched it was only blacks being interviewed. Isn't the whole point of an open forum to offer a place where all the issues are raised and discussed? Not according to CNN, as they've ever only cared about one side of the issue. It's also why they never covered the horrible racist stuff that many blacks were saying during the Milwaukee riots. I've been writing this for some time so I'll attempt to wrap this up. If there is to be meaningful progress on the issues that face our society, then we must be willing to be... wrong. As long as we remain so entrenched in our viewpoints, there will never be any progress. At least not until there is the threat that forces politicians out of their lethargic or intransigent state. The only hope is if a George Washington-type leader, someone who everyone respects but is also seperate from the political fray, comes to power. Needless to say, no one that I've seen running for office anywhere strikes me as that sort of person. -

I don't recall, but is it normal for my directories in MO2 to look like this? %BASE_DIR%/downloads %BASE_DIR%/mods %BASE_DIR%/webcache %BASE_DIR%/profiles %BASE_DIR%/overwrite Edit: On a thought I clicked on it and it does appear everything's correct, I just don't recall it being like that. -

Ah! So running the BA2 archive version then better than the loose one? Best to download the "FAR 1_32 Full Resolution ARCHIVED" then? -

So do I need to do anything through ENB to set that up or is it automatic? Oh! And on the stylesheet, can you make the version numbers a color other than green? With the green background it's hard to read without moving the cursor over it. Edit: The Detail Tab needs to be updated; Options for Wetness and Motion Blur has been added. On the View Distance Tab, there's an option for Object Detail Fade. That looks to be all that's changed. -

Can you make a note of this? At least on where you have the install for MO2 because I had completely forgotten you talking about this. Like with a notice saying something along the lines of "Do not install into Fallout 4 folder as it confuses usvfs. And yes, that corrected the issue. Wonder why the file path wasn't recognized before as valid. Oh well, just glad it works now. I did as you ask by the way and did it in the way you first mentioned. Might actually just go ahead and recommend that as well. Just a thought though. Probably isn't an issue for others but I not so so smart. -

That's the mod that doesn't exist anymore on Nexus right? Also @Gernash Okay, we went through this before but I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong as it says the directory doesn't exist (but I used the address at the top) tell me what you think looks wrong: "mklink /J C:\Users\Damian\AppData\Local\ModOrganizer C:\Games\steamapps\common\Fallout 4\ModOrganizer2\ModOrganizer2Data" -

I double checked the Nvidia settings shortly after you mentioned to check them. Like GSD alluded, though, it was a bad driver. All I did now was update my driver to the most recent and that corrected the issue. Not that I know how those work, but it's funny that a driver would all of sudden funk up like that when it had been running just fine.
