Install this mod without any special configuration. It will be the simplest solution and all that is needed for most systems.
Depending on the GFX dirvers and PC environment, another option is available that may alleviate certain issues on higher-end PCs without having to cap frame rate. Read on for details. After completing the guide and loading into the game for the first time, if there are issues like the following and no tweaks that fix: # Input lag # Stuttering # Missing cursor on alt+tab or other cursor issues # Other miscellaneous GFX bugs ... try disabling this mod and using SSE Dispay Teaks instead.
~z929669Talk 18:24:27 3 January 2023 (UTC) wtote the following: Rather than following the relevant display settings exactly as described in the STEP Guides, SSE Dispay Teaks was a much better option for my system. I also have a monitor with 144 Hz refresh. Configuring my setup as follows (all else remaining true to STEP Guides' recommendations) fixed all of my glitches without capping my frame rates (indoor/outdoor FPS range with max textures and settings in all mods and config ~ 70-144): Radeon Adrenalin software for Skyrim deviations (from default) as follows: * Radeon Anti-Lag set to "On" * Wait for Vertical Refresh (Radeon driver vsync) set to "Off, unless application specifies" * AMD Freesync (analogous to Nvidia G-SYNC, but slightly inferior) set to "AMD Optimized" ... with BethINI deviations as follows: * VSync (unticked) * Lock Frame Rate (unticked) ... and SSEDisplayTweaks.ini deviations as follows: *
SwapEffect=flip_sequential
*
MaxFrameLatency=1
*
MaximumRefreshRate=144
(or set to your monitor's refresh rate) *
FramerateLimit=144
(or set to your monitor's refresh rate) *
MaximumFramerate=144
(or set to your monitor's refresh rate)

It is recommended to install BOSS directly to your Skyrim game directory instead of its default location at the top of your system drive, unless you are using an SSD on which you would rather conserve space. This allows Mod Organizer to automatically detect and add BOSS to your list of executables. Mod Organizer users: If you do not want to follow the above advice as to where to install BOSS, do the following in order to add BOSS to the list of executables: #Click the gears icon . This opens the Modify Executables window. #In the Title field, type BOSS. #For the Binary field, browse to your BOSS installation and select the BOSS GUI.exe application. #Click the Add button. This will add BOSS to your executables list. #Click OK. Now each time you want to run BOSS, simply select it from the drop-down menu at top right and click Run. +
Since you must launch BOSS Userlist Manager (BUM) through Mod Organizer in order for it to recognize your mods, add BUM to the list of executables by doing the following: #Click the gears icon . This opens the Modify Executables window. #In the Title field, type BUM. #For the Binary field, browse to your BUM installation and select the BOSS Userlist Manager.exe application. #Click the Add button. This is mainly due to the fact the full mod is actually breaking the quests for scanning objects. Multiple users have reported this and the author has confirmed it's an issue that may not be able to be remedied.
Installation
# Download a file and delete it so that the mod may be endorsed. # Navigate to Babscoole's LUA scripts # Download the following: #* __MOD_BETTER_COLOURS.lua #*: Changes the colors of much of the game's biome land assets. #* __MOD_BETTER_TERRAIN.lua #*: Change a few settings to enable better terrain generation.
Do not install this to a current game! Better Planet Generation (BPG) greatly expands the biomes and diversity of planets. However, there are a few things to be aware of before installing BPG: # Due to BPG design, players may not be able to completely scan all planets. This may break related quests. #: With that said, the question of why BPG is in the Guide is likely to come up. The answer is, what BPG brings to the game experience far outweighs these potential negatives for most long-term players. Once BPG is experienced, the game feels barren without it. # Due to BPG's terrain manipulation, once Better Planet Generation is installed it must remain for the duration of that save. # There may be prolonged waiting periods between when the game updates and when Better Planet Generation updates for compatibility. #: This depending on the severity of the issue(s) caused from a game update. It's not been uncommon for such periods to be months in length, in which time games with BPG may be unplayable. #: The best practice when BPG is opted for installation is to maintain two separate games/saves. One with BPG present and one without it. This will allow players to continue to play and use this Guide while BPG is recovering from game updates.
Installation

<div class="d-flex m-0 mt-1 px-1 stepalertsm redbd"">

WARNING:

Read the paragraphs above before installing this mod!

The LUA files by Babscoole will be used for merging BPG with the rest of the Guide. # Visit Babscoole's GitHub repository to download the required files #* If starting a new game or upgrading an existing save with BPG already present, download: ___MOD_BETTER_PLANET_GENERATION-Extract...folder.7z #* If BPG will be used on a save that has never had it installed before, download: ___MOD_BPG_LITE-Extract...folder.7z #*: This version excludes terrain generation; thus, prevents preexisting bases from being buried, floated, etc. # Click on the desired file to open it's page, and click the download button to download the file #: # Select and extract the LUA file and the GlobalMEFTI folder to the ModScript folder in AMUMSS:
..\AMUMSS\ModScript

To install, # Download and install the Main File. # MO will prompt to confirm how to install. # Expand the FNIS Behavior SE x.x.x folder. # Right-click on Data and select Set data directory. # Click OK to install the mod. # Enable the mod.
Add to Mod Organizer Executables
FNIS is run through Mod Organizer like most other tools. Then expand the GenerateFNIS_for_Users folder. # Right-click the GenerateFNISforUsers.exe file and select [Add as Executable]. # In the window that opens, type
FNIS SE
for the Title. # Click [OK]
Create Mod for Output
It is recommended to create a mod to store output files from FNIS by doing the following: # Click on the button and select, [Create empty mod]. # Name it
Step SkryimSE - FNIS Output
. # Open the Executables menu and choose [FNIS SE]. # Tick the Create files in mod instead of overwrite (*) checkmark and select Step SkryimSE - FNIS Output from the dropdown. # Click [Apply] and then [OK].
Run FNIS
FNIS needs to run in order to generate a new skeleton any time that animation/skeleton mods are added/changed. Install the Main File, and merge the Update File. Merging should be fine for this one, since it will almost certainly never be updated again. +

The Fuz Ro D'oh.ini file needs to be edited manually. To do this:

While in Mod Organizer, right-click the Fuz Ro Doh mod on the left-hand side

Select the menu option Open in explorer

Within the new window, navigate into the SKSE/Plugins folder

Right-click within the folder and select the menu option New > Text Document

Name the file Fuz Ro D'oh.ini (make sure you are showing File Extensions - click here to see how)

Open the new file and copy the below contents, pasting them into the file:
[General]
WordsPerSecondSilence=2

Save and close the file

 +
Install the Main File. Merge the Optional File. As with any mod with an INI configuration, Step recommends creating an 'empty' mod to contain a customizable configuration (INI or similar file) that will not be overwritten when the mod is updated. The INI file will not be generated until the game is launched, and it should appear in Overwrite. Rather than moving the content into the original mod, create a custom mod to contain only the INI configuration file: # Click > Create empty mod, and name it
(CONFIG) Fuz Ro D-oh - Silent Voice
. # Copy the entire SKSE/ folder from the source mod (or Overwrite) into the new mod. # Delete all content under
SKSE/Plugins/
from the new mod (except the INI file if it exists). # Prioritize this configuration mod just after the source mod in MO such that the INI will override that of the source mod.
