ENB Suggestions based on my PC and mods

Question

Posted (edited)

Two questions I have is on the beta 2.2.9.1 is the:

STEP Optimized Vanilla Textures:  Cant really find exactly what this does and how its being worked in with the beta setup :) Figured Id give it a run with the new build from 2.2.9 that I have been using. So starting all over, gotta love skyrim and step

Second, the load order, Ive really never looked or asked but using STEP is there a ss somewhere that shows what loot order should look like if were using STEP?? Ive not had problems so not sure why I need to ask, just curious is all.

Next is any good suggested mods or ENB with my PC setup:

Intel® Coreâ„¢ i5-4670K 3.40 GHz 6MB
8GB (4GBx2) DDR3/2133MHz

GTX 770 2GB GDDR5

THANKS :)

keep up the good work.

edit:  upgrading my video card to GTX 970 4gb, should have it installed by this weekend.

STEP Optimized Vanilla Textures is just what it implies: the vanilla Skyrim textures optimized to have smaller file sizes while still looking the same. It helps reduce VRAM usage, and there's no reason not to use them unless you're hurting for hard drive space (in which case you can follow the STEP guide to optimize them yourself, and pack them back into the original BSAs).

It looks like your setup will be good enough to run most ENB presets, so I don't see how anybody can possibly make a suggestion that works well for most people. They all look different, and many of them look beautiful in different ways. My preference is Grim and Somber Vaermina, but it looks very different from vanilla Skyrim and won't be for everyone. ENB recommendations are highly subjective, especially if you're not simply looking for the "ENB with the best performance".

cool thanks for the tips. Thanks on the STEP, I read it that way but was not quite sure if it had actual visual effects. Cheers

Will check out the grim and somber.

As well still curious on any screenshots available on what typical step order should look like when its all done and ready to go via LOOT.

Add this question in as well:

Would like to use the CBBE none nude version + beauty eyes and colorgirl makeup mod, any suggestions on how I should install this in what order or what till Im done with step program and then install it, as well as possibly not installing xce as it might conflict??

Thanks

I can recommend several ENB's:

Vividian

Grim and Somber

HRK

Saraan Suum

Bleak and Unbleak

Skylight

I've used all these at some time. They're most definitely not all the same, and they most definitely wont have the same performance. It's a matter of the look you're after, really.

With your suggested other mods, you could probably add them around the time you'd add XCE in the STEP process. I'd suggest CBBE, then Covergirl I think you meant, and the eyes mod last. If you did use XCE as well if you loaded that BEFORE CBBE, that may work. Just eyeball the conflicts window in MO and make sure you have what you want 'winning'.

There's also a list of popular ENBs on the ENB Guide. As for LOOT, there's isn't any specific order. As long as you've included the Meta Rules from the mod pages, you'll be good to go with whatever order the mods are in.
