Random crashes, visual problems...

Question

Posted

Clearly, I did something wrong while following the S.T.E.P instructions.

I'm getting random, semi-replicable crashes. The first one happened as I was exiting the Pawned Prawn (just got Bryjnolf his money). Every time I exited after reloading that save, crash. But I loaded an earlier save, rested and returned later, did the exact same thing, no crash. Random CTS were a thing before I installed all these things, but it's much more frequent now.

Second crash happened when exiting dialogue (Ratway). Third one while entering a house in Windhelm.

Then there's this:

Coin purses are similarly skinned.

The S.T.E.P. process is extremely time consuming... I don't want to do it over. Is there a fast way to fix these problems?

Redownload Skyrim Redesigned for the coin purses and alchemy table, as it appears the textures are corrupt. I've seen that before on this mod. If that doesn't work, run them through DDSopt and that should fix them.

As to random crashes, make sure you are using ENBoost and some form of the Skyrim Memory Patch 3.0 to eliminate those possible CTD problems.

No skse alpha 1.7 has the memory patch. It has to be loaded at startup not possible with a plugin.

Or just unzip SSME (Memory patch for SKSE 1.6.16) into your Skyrim root folder (Not the data folder). The file is completely valid, as i'm sure the STEP Staff can confirm. That way you do not have to fiddle with too many files  ::):

Edit:

That picture looks very similar to texture corruption resulting from overclocking graphic card's memory way too far, only it makes no sense if it happens with one or two particular items. I suggest opening the relevant files in a viewer to see whether they aren't corrupted (texturesclutteralchemyworkbench01.dds and texturescluttermoneybag01.dds).

SSME seems to be working; it's crashing *less*. As to the textures, redownloading and reinstalling Skyrim Redesigned didn't work. I'll have to try again, only this time I think I'll just grab the files out of the package rather than relying on the FOMOD provided on this site, see if that works. But that can wait until after sleep.
