ENB Memory Usage

Hi, I have a simple and perhaps stupid question but when using an ENB, you have the ENB and Skyrim running. My ENB usually consumes about 800MB of system memory (not referring to VRAM), while Skyrim currently sits around 2GB. I have been having CTD's and just want to make sure I am not getting crashes due to the 3.1 cap. The ENB and Skyrim are completely separate in terms of the 3.1GB cap correct? My game should still be able to use another 1GB before it hits the cap, or are both combined meaning I am hitting the 3.1GB cap due to ENB?

The skyrim process alone should stay under 3.1Gb. The ENB one is hardcoded to stay under 10Gb. So yes they are completely separate when it comes to usage. What is smart in ENB is that it moves texture data from skyrim over into its processes allowing for more room in the skyrim process. Basically put.

 

If you think you have CTD´s due to memory issues, try to revert to just using the HDDLC textures (If using MO and have them as their own mod then this is as simple as moving them all to the bottom of the priority order.) Since your game should be able to run with those.

Thanks for the reply! Good to know it's not from my game capping out on memory usage. I have 3GB VRAM and never cap that so I should be okay with the STEP textures. I may have to make a new thread for help with a fresh STEP installation causing CTD's (even after removing my ENB). I usually test the CTD by running around the world for a while without any interactions and it will eventually crash even in the middle of nowhere with less than 2GB of system memory being used. Papyrus always shows a lot of errors with the main STEP setup.
