Something is causing ENB to create a terrible sunray effect

Question

Posted

This only happens with Skyrealism ENB (cinematic preset) activated, however the Skyrealism author said that this effect should not happen. It goes away when I shift + f12 to turn ENB off so it's definitely only visible when ENB is active.

Could this be a conflict with ENB and ELFX?

His mod says it's fully compatible with CoT so it shouldn't be an ENB + CoT problem ALTHOUGH I did replace CoT's sun ray with Skyrim Sunglare V4 so maybe it's ENB + SS v4 that's the problem?

Any ideas?

Well its better imo. If you are happy with it then play along, otherwise you know how to fine tune it!

Edit: You can also reduce the corona and see what happens. Again just alter it to the same values across the board.

I tweaked it even more. I think it has a good balance between realism and fantasy without being annoying as hell. I put the hazyness and glowintensity back to default and just changed the raymultiplier to 0.4 and the simple sunintensity to 0.9

When you say to reduce the corona, do you mean the size of the sun? How do i do that? I do think that the sun is a bit big.

There are settings named corona. They alter the sunglare texture effect. Reducing this can also make the sun look less intense.

Do you have any suggestions for my current settings? Just reducing the corona size? I was thinking if it was like 75% of the current size then I would be happy.

Wanna tell me your current sun and sunray settings? :-). You seem to know what you're doing.

If you keep asking about suggestions for what you think looks nice then I am just going to answer 100.000.000! :P

Joke aside. If you think anything is too intense or too large, then reduce the values until they fit.

Just do one at 8 am, 12 am, 6 pm then you have how the sun will look covered. Also if you use CoT then just use one of the brighter clear weathers, for example. xxx58149

Fair enough. I just wanted to perfect the sun so I can deal with my next issue....which is the return of the good old crash to desktop outside when fast traveling to areas right outside whiterun. Almost positive it is caused by lanterns for caravans. woohoooo

Is this the guy right here? SunCoronaCurve=1.0

And the one right above it. Intensity deals with how... intense something looks, curves deal with how bright or dark the colors of the object is based on its texture or lighting values.

That doesn't sound like it actually affects the 'size' of the corona though. I'm saying that the sun looks too physically large. I've never seen the sun in real life get that big lol.

The corona is a fixed texture with a fixed size, but depending on how it looks it will add its intensity to the overall image.

If you think the sun is to big, then reduce the glowintensity and sunintensity values.

Will do. I think I'm going to settle with my previous tweaks. All I did was change the sunintensity to 0.9 from 1.0 and the sunraymultiplier from 1.0 to 0.4. Seems good now. The Skyrim Sunglare v4 textures probably just had a much stronger sun ray which when combined with the high ENB sunraymultiplier, caused the effect to be way too strong.

Here's a suggestion that works perfectly for me with Skyrealism and CoT.

Using the sun from this mod: https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/4982// (Sun glare 2_2 with standard sun dds, For climates of tamriel)

And the sunglare from this mod: https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/1653//

Then with these settings in enbseries.ini

[RAYS]

SunRaysMultiplierSunrise=0.3

SunRaysMultiplierDay=0.3

SunRaysMultiplierSunset=0.3

SunRaysMultiplierNight=0.3

SunRaysMultiplierInteriorDay=0.3

SunRaysMultiplierInteriorNight=0.3

Try it out if you want :)

I'll try it out. Are all the other Skyrealism settings default? Also, which skyrealism preset do you use? I use cinematic.

Yes' date=' all other settings are default. I also use cinematic without the black bars. :)[/quote']

I like SkyRealism because it barely changes the colors and adds in all the great subtle effects of ENB (sun rays, better shadows, a little darker, nicer sky, DoF, SSAO, etc.). It also works really nicely with CoT and ELFX or RLO. Other ENBs overhaul the colors too much and I don't know if they will play nice with other lighting mods. Project ENB was a great one though I remember. Really nice bright colors.

Agree with you totally, tried others but have always gone back to Skyrealism. It's the best for sure!

The only thing i couldn't stand (a little offtopic) was that with the new ENBseries versions you had to disable hardware AA. And no supersampling for me meant an unplayable game. I know Boris has implemented some kind off Supersampling, but that was way too performance demanding.

So my solution was to disable some effects in enbseries.ini to be able to continue having 2xsupersampling in nvidia inspector.

I had to disable these settings:

EnableAmbientOcclusion=false

EnableImageBasedLighting=false

EnableReflection=false

EnableParticleLights=false

I enabled Ambient Occlusion in nvidia inspector, but the tree other effects i'll have to live without i guess.
