SabreCat Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 I spoke with z929669 in PM, and they suggested I start a thread here. I'd like to give back to STEP in some way, and wiki editing is likely my best bet. Are there some odds and ends awaiting love and attention I could help out with?
0 Farlo Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 We're currently working out a new framework for the Wiki, but for now we do still need mod pages created (and filled out properly) for all the SR mods. You can create mod pages via this page, please make sure everything is as accurate as possible and don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions. The auxiliary guides (WB, Skyrim Installation, etc.) can always use more input, so take a glance and if you see anything worth changing, please do. We try to keep a consistent third-person writing style throughout the guides, so keep that in mind. For questions or proposals related to a specific guide, post in it's forum thread which is usually linked at the top of the guide.
0 torminater Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 If you are looking for work, you can also start the FAQ/Q&A on the Troubleshooting Guide on the Wiki. Much information is in the last tab containing the "additions" by me.
0 TechAngel85 Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 The only page I would say don't work on is the Mod Testing Guide. I'm currently putting that through an overhaul, myself. All else is fair game if you have the knowledge to expand and update the content.
0 youtoo Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 I would like to add a newbie guide to help make STEP a litle easier for newbs. I can suggest an order to read documents. What to focus on and links to other docs and videos. For example MO is best for STEP, but the guide assumes you know stuff and isnt detailed. So I found it best to read the Wrye Bash Guide on STEP(which includes discussing how to name mods) and then MO guide, plus links to some good youtube videos. Then discuss a lingo section. Some stuff I am not clear on. Most of you guys are long time modders so lingo/acroynms are tricky to new people. I will include stuff Im still not clear on. Thought about starting with a forum post. Sort of a 'do this for STEP newbs' guide. STEP is quite long and there is alot of info. From my experience I think this works best for me. 1. Skim through STEP. I would tell people to skip a few sections like the performance and benchmarking stuff. Too much infor for newbs. Its important if you have a lower end PC, but its too much to know. 2. dont read the ddsopt stuff and few aother guides. Learn simpler stuff first. 3. Absolutely use Mod Organizer for STEP. With a link to the authors youtube videos and a link to his long Nexus Mods Forum support thread. 4. Note that STEP only uses Wrye Bash once at the end and TES5Edit in one place. Stuff like that.
0 z929669 Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 Sounds great. Could you begin your work on the wiki under your User namespace (click on your user name in the upper right of the wiki)? Otherwise, just write it up in text format and post on this thread, and I will post to the wiki to get you started.
