Question

Posted

Recently I have been reinstalling mods I had before, so that I could play on an old save. I've gotten every mod, except for the mod: "richmerchantsofskyrim.esp". I have downloaded the mod and many others with similair names, yet still, MO2 does not recognize it. I've installed it through bethesda.net and skyrim and through NMM downloads and manual downloads to MO2, yet, MO2 still says that the mod is missing. Does anyone know how to fix the issue?

I HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM:

In MO2 on your list of mods, you double click on the mod.

Then you click on the far right option: "filetree"

Right click the .esp file and hit "Rename" and call it what the missing esp is supposed to be called

Reenable the mod and it should work

MO2 looks for specific file names. No matter what you install, if that file name isn't in the right pane and checked (activated), it will throw that Missing Master warning. So, there are a few possibilities:

A) You haven't found the actual mod you used originally. Keep looking.

B) You found it, but the author has changed the name of the ESP file. Depending on how extensive the other changes in the mod are, you MIGHT be able to rename it to the file name that MO2 is looking for.

On a related note, where, exactly, is this warning being thrown? The only place I can think of is as a missing master for another mod (red triangle next to a file name on the right pane). Depending on where it is coming from, there may be other options available as well.

I'm confused by the question as well. I can't tell if he means Mod Organizer is saying a plugin is missing a master, the mod won't install, or Skyrim is saying the save depends on assets that are no longer available.

to clarify: I am trying to boot up an old save, but MO2 won't let me because it's missing the file richmerchantsofskyrim.esp . I have installed the mod, and many with similair names, but MO2 doesn't register the mod as installed. Is there a way to change the filename of the mod I've installed to the name mo2 wants?

Exactly as I told you. You could also have right-clicked the mod -> open in explorer -> renamed the file in windows, then right click in MO -> All Files -> Refresh. Would have accomplished the same... regardless, glad you have it done.
