Question

Hello,

Every time I try to launch SKSE with any mods with MO2 it crashes (except FNIS.esp) and it works fine with no mods.

My skyrim SE is under Local Disk > Games so is not UAC protected

Now the problem may be with the location of MO2, the only way I could get it to work, which I mean by is that the only way it could locate TESV.exe is by dumping it on This PC > Desktop, I try put it anywhere else it cant find Skyrim SE at all OR it says start STEAM when it already is.

Thats what I got with my logs.

Any ideas?

So you're saying MO2 refuses to "see" your installed game unless the MO2 install is just dumped onto the desktop?

This doesn't sound correct. MO2 knows of the installed games by looking at their registry settings. It doesn't make any difference where MO2 is installed, with one proviso, never install it into the game folder or the Steam install.

At any rate you will need to provide the mo_interface.log also so we can see what the settings are. Be sure to set the Debug level in ths Settings to: Debug, and then provide new logs. A new usvfs log will also be good. Remember to use spoiler tags or PasteBin to avoid long posts.

Ok so I know this sounds very very strange, but for the some reason if i try put MO2 anywhere else except dumped to desktop it can not find skyrim, What I mean by that is that for some reason when I click on file explorer I can find it, however when it comes to Browse on MO2 files are missing, like I click on skyrim and it has like 3 empty folders?

Sorry I cant find debug in settings, I'm using notepad++, you talking about the log or MO?

Please follow this series of videos and tell me how your installation differs from that.

It sounds like you may be not understanding something basic about how MO2 works.

Ok so I deleted and started again, following that video, only difference is when I reinstalled MO2 it did not have to find it, it opened will all the mods I had installed, but I still cant launch SKSE without it shutting down.

Latest update some mods work some dont, SkyUI among other brakes it idk why.

I am experiencing the same issues with using MO2 and SSE. I clean-installed last night, have a pretty minimal load order, and everything was fine up until I installed Mator Smash and made a smash patch (don't know if that has anything to do with my issues). Then I go to SKSE in MO2 and click start. Small black window flashes as normal, but it's brief (half a second) and the game stops before it even starts. Running the latest (2.1.2) standalone version of MO2. Any suggestions or assistance would be helpful.

edit: To clarify: I rebooted PC, Steam, MO2 multiple times. Also tried removing SKSE from executables in MO2, restarted MO2, SKSE is automatically back in executables after restarting, same results.

It has to be a conflict with something. I disabled all mods, and it starts fine. I don't know how to tell what the conflict is though

I have a pretty light load order at the moment, so I will go through and disable mods one by one and see what the conflict for me is. So far, re-enabling SkyUI isn't the issue.

I've found the culprit in my load order. It was my bad as I was trying to see if RaceMenu (from Classic Skyrim) would work in SSE. Turns out it's what was making SKSE not load. Hopefully that helps somebody else, I guess just look for (possibly recently added) SKSE plugins that might be doing it.

Oh nice, I still don't understand why mods like SkyUI and Alternate start are not working but others are?

Are you using the correct mods for the version of Skyrim you are running?

If you are trying to use any mod that relies on the original SKSE in Skyrim Special Edition it will fail as they will be expecting SKSE but they will "see" SKSE64.

Mods like SkyUI SE wont even work though they are SE versions, I would think mods like Alternate Start would be SE compatible because of how popular they are?

Any ideas?

I've been without a working games machine for sometime now, and before that I hadn't touched Skyrim for some time, so I'm really not sure what's going on here. Hopefully in a week or two, when my replacement GPU gets here, I can get back in and do some testing.

So, sorry, no more ideas.

I can confirm SkyUI and Alternate Start (both SE) both work for me like normal. Problem must be on your end; though I don't know off hand what it could be.
