Question

Posted (edited)

My STEP Core is working so I have that profile done within MO. Decided to copy/paste the profile and add the mods I wanted, so I checked the Packs page and found the MIME guide. I thought to myself "well.... that sucks, I wish I just followed this guide instead." However, there are only a select few mods I want to work with my game. So far the mods work, but when I try to add Moonpath to Elswyr, Immersive Armors, or Interesting NPCs, my game takes over 10 minutes to start a new game, then crashes. Then, for some reason, when I untick those mods, rebuild the bashed patch, and load up the game, the same thing happens until I untick Immersive Orc Strongholds and load up the game.

I tried installing them one by one. I tried looking for conflicting mods, such as Weapons and Armor Fixes Remade, or the aMiridian mods, but I don't know exactly what to look for, and I've been at this for days now lol.

At this point, I just want to start playing the game. I really want these few mods to work, so I'm willing to go back and try again from the STEP Core Skyrim :)

If you're adding these mods on top of STEP, you should install and enable Memory Blocks Log to determine if you need to increase DefaultHeapInitialAllocMB in skse.ini. STEP recommends DefaultHeapInitialAllocMB=768 so you get 512 in the first block and 256 in the second block and this works great for a STEP Core or STEP Extended setup using the baseline mesh and text resolutions recommended in the guide.

Using higher resolution meshes or texture, adding additional NPCs to the game (e.g. Interesting NPCs), adding more body mods to the game, etc. increase the demand for memory in the first block so you may need to increase this to DefaultHeapInitialAllocMB=1024 (768 in the first block, 256 in the second block) or DefaultHeapInitialAllocMB=1280 (1024 in the first block, 256 in the second block). The best way to find out is to use Memory Blocks Log to reproduce the crash to see where you stand with the first block at the time of the crash.

So I did some digging on that specific subject and it all led me to the Safety Load Fix script for SKSE and that took care of everything. Thank you for pointing this out. I now think the game is running better than ever, and I'll probably look into an ENB preset as the final touch. I know there are a lot of specific instructions in the STEP guide around ENBoost and mod specific to ENB presets, but I want to make my game feel more cinematic, and at the moment everything is very clear, including the 1k textures I have going on hah

Thank you again for the information. This is all way beyond me, and I applaud your patience for knowing this stuff, and also for fixing my tags, I keep forgetting about that -_-
