Can YOU find the source of my troubles? Intermittent Freezing.

Question

Posted (edited)

I've been getting freezing during gameplay, where I have to CtrlAltDel out and shut down Skyrim via the task manager. No real clue although I am running a hefty mod order.

If anyone could help me I would really appreciate it ^_^

I've got the skse.ini as expained in the STEP guide in place.

Computer specs are:

Intel Core i5-4670 @ 3.40GHz 3.40GHz

8 GB RAM

Nvidia Geforce GTX 970

Skyrim is loaded on a SSD

Please and thank you :)

If I remember correctly, I think you may need to set ExpandSystemMemoryX64=false in enblocal.ini if you increase the first block above 768 to prevent the game from crashing to desktop.

Have you tried loading another save or starting a new game to see if it might be an issue with the save? Your enblocal.ini and skse.ini files look good.

I've tried several saves with the DefaultHeap set to 1024 with CTDs but not a new save. I then put it back down to its original setting and it loaded my original problematic save. Quit, set the heap to 1024 and it seems to have loaded the save fine this time. I'm going to walk around now and check out Solitude Harbour to see if I get any freezes or CTDs. Not sure what's different...

Thanks :-)
