Excellent points. While intrigued by the survivor/realism mods aspect of my setup balance and diversity of atmosphere is what I'm striving for. Thanks for your .02. -
DROPPED Project Reality - Climates Of Tamriel - Weather - Lighting by JJC71
Quahogs replied to EisDrache's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
As per SR: Project Reality - Climates Of Tamriel Author: JJC74 Version: 3.1 Optionals: Dawnguard Patch, Dragonborn Patch I notice that Winter Edition and Sounds are not included under optionals. Â Is this due to preference or do they interfere with other mods being used ? Â Thanks -
Sweet ! cleared up 8g. Thank you

Enhanced Blood Textures - Skyrim Imm Creatures Patch
Quahogs replied to Quahogs's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Thanks Aiyen, thats going to take a bit to settle thru the bedrock. But I get the overall idea. I'm just glad I was able to troubleshoot the non-start and figure it out, just didn't understand why. Steep learning curve here for sure... -
Enhanced Blood Textures - Skyrim Imm Creatures Patch
Quahogs posted a question in General Skyrim LE Support
I'm following SR and I'm to the point where I have EBT and EBT immersive creatures patch installed and esp's enabled. Â In running skse thru MO to load the game and I get the Skyrim enblem for a blink before it goes right to desktop. Â It seems this is caused by having the EBT immersive creature patch esp enabled before I installed immersive creatures. Â Once I installed immersive creatures the game loaded no problem. Â Â My question is what are the processes behind why this is occurring ? Â Can a simple patch that can't find what it's patching prevent the whole game from launching ? Â I guess so but I'm trying to understand what's going on under the hood. Â Â Can someone explain to a layman how the patch is working between EBT and immersive creatures ? Â Also what exactly is a bash patch ? Â Â Thanks all... -
Thanks. Yes I'm on a serious diet. I wonder how much fat is in Windows 8... Push comes to shove and Office gets the heave ho. Can MO be modified to automatically download and retrieve from a directory set to D:/ ? Or do I have to manage that manually ?
-
When skyrim runs it knows to looks at the texture files in the optimized dir specifically or since it is below the original mod dir it "overides" the previous loaded texture ?
-
I know this is more of a SKyrim/hardware ? not Step so if this is the wrong place I apologize.  I have a new pc and didn't realize the operating system and the skyrim install took place on the C:/ flash solid state HD (120 gig) and NOT on the 2 TB drive.  Now I'm worried about space constraints.  I'm 1/3 of the way thru SR and am staring at 13g left.  I know I can remove downloads under Mod organizer when I'm done.  In the meantime I'm wondering if turning on the   "compress this drive to save space feature" will impact the game in any way.  Anyone have similar issue ?  Could any of Steam - Skyrim be parked in the D drive or must the whole program reside under program filesX86 ?   Thanks

Swapping Installed Texture Packs?
Quahogs replied to Vyperhate's question in General Skyrim LE Support
SR Legendary has alot of optimizing compared to the prior v. Â DDSOpt textures and normal maps - is this what you are referring to ? Â I too have 16g ram and 2g vram. Â Am I really biting off more that I and my system can chew trying to follow legendary or is all the optimizing creating a more stable platform ? -
I'm trying to fully understand what I'm doing to these mods.. ie ddsopt. It's becoming a little more clear but I just can't tell if I missed a step somewhere and botched it. Sorry for the most elementary of questions here. I optimized Skyrim HD 2k texture towns and Misc (I'm following Legendary optimization instructions). THe optimzed dir is the same in regard to number of files but the size has decreased. Hence optimized or made to work more efficiently ? However the SMIM optimized directory is smaller. I guess files in there were NOT optimized therefore not extracted ? The only way to tell if it didn't work correctly is some instances of weaker graphics, or purple people ? :-)
-
what do the results in the conflict tab mean exactly ? Â for example SMIM optimized show 8 conflicts provided by this mod, 21 conflicted files provided by other mods and 130 non conflicted files... Â Does it mean SMIM optimized is overwriting 8 files from other mods and is being overwritten 21 x itself ? Â Â Also do you now NOT check the original SMIM mod under installed mods and ONLY check the optimized ? Â Â THanks
-
Thank you. I think I finally get the concept. Extract and optimize are two different functions. Check is so you can extract, uncheck so you can optimize. I hope this is all worth it in the end. I'm starting to doubt my ability to get thru SR properly ! Just need to concentrate and comprehend a weeee bit better ....

Thanks. I'm confused with the IGNORE tab though. DDSopt freshly installed has options (from top to bottom 4 of them) 1,2 and 4 checked. Neovalen notes to check 3. Does that mean the others remain checked or now ALL 4 are checked ? Also the Wiki detail for DDSopt IGNORE tab graphic show 2 and 4 checked. ?????

Wow ok I just saw the wiki file as per DDSopt. It looks like I have alot of reading to do. I thought it was more of a plug and go tool. I was wrong lol. Looks like I'm going to have my hands full with this one. My above questions still stand and any newbie helpful hints would be greatly appreciated. I'm ok with good enough but I DO want to take advantage of what this tool has to offer

I'm following the SR manual and I have a few questions 1) In a nutshell what does this process do ? 2) The first file Skyrim - textures.bsa took 4+ hours to complete.  Is it supposed to take THAT long ?  I have a feeling I fouled somewhere.  What are the contents supposed to be in the working/vanilla folder ?  All I have are maybe 8 or .bsa files.  By contrast HRDLC1 took but a couple of minutes and that working directory shows a whole bunch of dir structure.  I have no idea if it's doing what it's supposed to .  3) In the IGNORE tab I selected "Don't process any of the known file-types at all.  This now show all 4 options in that tab selected.  Is this correct ?  I didn't change ANYTHING in DDSopt after I installed it yesterday 4) If for some reason I ran something incorrectly would this foul the game in same way ?   thanks all...

Swapping Installed Texture Packs?
Quahogs replied to Vyperhate's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I have 16ram 2gvram. I'm about to undertake Step Revisited. Textures: 2048x2048 Normal Maps: 1024x1024 Skyrim HD - 2K Textures above are NEO's recommendations. I've been reading about people swapping out to 1024 because of a 3.1 ram issue ? Is this what they are referring too ? If that's the case will each of the textures have 1024 options ? ( I plan on going the CoT, RLO, RealV ENB route if that matters ) -
Steps to blow out SKYRIM and start new install
Quahogs replied to Quahogs's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Nice ! Â Â I'm really impressed with the level of complexity/immersion the game with the mods have to offer. Â You have all done a great job moving it from a console type to a true RPG. Â The tools are out there but it's up to me what level of enjoyment I will have. Â It looks like I just have to work at - which is fun in its own right. Â What's also impressive is the helpful community you all foster at this site. Â Taking your time out to help the less knowledgeable.. Â :-) Â I can't say thanks enough. -
Steps to blow out SKYRIM and start new install
Quahogs replied to Quahogs's question in General Skyrim LE Support
MO seems fantastic. I know I'm tossing out safe mods/profiles but I want to run Revisited instructions to the T. It's kind of enjoyable believe it or not knowing I'm building the best game I've ever played bar none. I've learned an immense amount in such a short period of time - I see this as an extended tutorial anyway. And boy do I have alot more to learn ! -
Steps to blow out SKYRIM and start new install
Quahogs replied to Quahogs's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Thanks all. I think to play it safe I'll just remove everything and reinstall. I didn't really advance in the game so I'm not losing anything there. Clean slate. I'm excited to rock with this setup. The more the mods I can work in there the better. But it looks like I have to real pay close attention to his steps. -
Steps to blow out SKYRIM and start new install
Quahogs posted a question in General Skyrim LE Support
I have Skyrim up and running via STEP.  All seem fine (although I've only sampled gameplay so far) and I've learned a GREAT deal thru the STEP process.  However I seem to have become a mod ***** and want to go a different direction.  More of a very detailed survival type game.  I will attempt to follow Neovalen's Revisited process and am wondering the best way to go about the removal process.  I know MO's mods never touch the STEAM directory and different profiles can be saved but does MO have to go too ?  Thanks all  -
Fresh Skyrim Revisited Install - CTD on load menu
Quahogs replied to thestuntman's question in General Skyrim LE Support
thestuntman, were you able to confirm that v1.17 works or did you totally forgo this mod ? Â I have the same issue -
:-) hey cheers for the noob ! Â 1 month ago I didn't even know what a mod was. Â Barely knew about Skyrim. Â Glad you got it going though. Â BOYD has me stumped though. Â I keep fiddling with it. Â I watched a tutorial on load order and it really helped my understand what is going on. Â I figure BOYD must load after diverse priests and consistent older people. Â However does the patch for DIverse priests-consistent older people and the patch for diverse priests and BOYD come AFTER the other 3 ? Â In any event no matter where put BOYD it freezes at startup. Â If I uncheck the ESP I'm fine again. Â Â Does anyone know where MO has the info like NMM has about master files ? Â Maybe that can tell me what else needs to run before BOYD. Â Â ALso would someone out there have a STEP load order I can view ? Â Maybe that would help my BOYD issue... Â
-
Cretgren, Your end result is all too familiar with what I've been going through. I added only STEP mods (though I just added CoT and RLO). I start SKSE through MO, get the Bethesda screen and then the frozen Skyrim emblem. No CTD. PC basically freezes. The offending mod that I just simply couldn't get around was bring out your dead. The freeze screen only happened when I had the BOYD ESP box checked. I deleted the mod and reinstalled... same thing. I have every other esp in the ESP tab checked and things are fine. I have no clue. I'm just going to have to live without it. I guess the load order is fouling things up but I can't figure it out, time to move on.

Help me understand BOSS BOYD esp issue
Quahogs replied to Quahogs's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I reinstalled disease descriptions and it gave me an option for Real needs and diseases, vanilla, dawn and dragon patches. Â It looks like I clicked all four without having RND installed. Â I reinstalled the mod without RND checked (for now) and everything is fine with Dis Descriptions. Â Thanks for the heads up
