pack Dreadflopps Modular patches
baronaatista replied to dreadflopp's topic in Step Skyrim LE Packs (retired)
Hey, just refining and troubleshooting a STEP: Core (full) with bits of Extended install, plus my own gameplay/weather/items pack, which is based mostly on the packs here. I'm guessing for any serious insight I need to be specific, so STEP: Extended Mods 2D CCOR Realistic Ragdolls and Force 2E IHUD 2G aMidianBorn Caves&Mines, Whiterun re-defined Dungeons 2H Birds and Flocks 2I TDN Vampire Armor retexture 2J Animated Weapon Enchants D13 Faster Get Up Stand Up Deadly Spell Impacts Dual Weild Block Animations EBT Lightning During Thunderstorms Skryim Enhanced Camera Smaller Ice Spike and Spear Wonders of Weather 2K Book Covers Skyrim Realistic Instruments 2L Immersive Thunder 2M Bring out Your Dead Dual Weild Parrying Hearthfire Extended Lock Overhaul The Choice is Yours Thieves Guild Requirements Timing is Everything Wet and Cold Even Better Quest Objectives Then my own pack, which I'll list in the exact order in the left MO pane I have them: Unlimited Bookshelves Mammoth Manor Immersive Horses Better Fast Travel Perseids Inns and Taverns - basic Cloaks of Skyrim Winter Is Coming - Cloaks Immersive Weapons & Armors Dawngaurd Arsenal Warmonger Armory Paladin Armor Set and Artifacts Morrowinds Legendary Rings Legendary Artifacts 3DNPC V3.10 with 3.17Patch File... Then Patchers: Real Shelter Bashed Patch ASIS/Improved INI Dual Sheath Redux LeanWolf's Better Shaped Weapons FNIS DynDOLOD So yeah. I'm not new to modding or even the STEP Guide, but this is my first serious attempt at a complex, but properly integrated load order, and I can only use the amazing community tools because of the amazing community guides - very much a layman. Definitely new to the forums. Forgive me if I've said or done things in a stupid way, and let me know so I can be less stupid in the future. I'm looking for advice with the modular patches specifically, but general thoughts on the load order/mods installed are welcomed as well (I'm wondering if people see redundancies, unnecessary conflicts, or questionable additions (the Paladin Armor Set I just grabbed cause I saw it on the Nexus Main Page and am planning on a Paladin-Character playthrough. Not one that would wear that armor though... the weapons/artifacts/quest is more what I'm interested in) I'm also looking hard at; Vigor - Combat and Injuries (worried about overdoing features, also not entirely sure about the way it randomly assigns injuries... damn you Bethesda! put locational damage in the next TES!) Skyrim Immersive Creatures - I've played with this mod every modded playthrough I've done, without thinking about it. I love the new wolves, giants, trolls and stuff that it brings in, but a lot of the other creatures, the animations/textures/etc. even in the Lore Purist version, there are things like Werewolves reskinned as Daedroth that just really don't look good (and, perhaps before your modular patches, didn't play nice with Hunterborn). Especially in a highly modded gorgeous Skyrim like I am rocking. I want to include this mod, but I don't want half-assed, immersion-breaking creatures in my game. Morrowloot Ultimate - ...as I'm writing this I'm looking at the page for MLU and thinking it sounds like the final piece to this setup. Seems like a lot of work to get working with everything else though? ...is there anything else that fits with what I'm doing here that I'm overlooking? *EDIT - I did not merge TTRSO esp's, as at the time I wanted to avoid using Merge Plugins (seemed intimidating) and I was well below the max plugin count (EDIT - I've gone over this post several times as I did some of my own troubleshooting. Total plugin count has gone up to 219 now w/o merged modular patches or TTRSO modules, or a new Bashed Patch, which I think will further reduce the order a couple esp's - will likely come in well under 200 total esp's after merging modular patches + creating bashed patch) so I can avoid the TTRSO Merged Manual Fix part in your Patches Guide? Or should I just not be lazy and do the extra work? -
Green Rectangle Cursor on Black Screen Startup error
baronaatista replied to baronaatista's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
hey, just checking in - tried a couple different things, thought maybe I accidentally (couldn't remember specific instructions) included FNVLODGen in the bashed patch, when I wasn't supposed to (was I?), so rebuilt bashed patch making sure to exclude that, and tried activating/deactivating any mods with more complicated installs, to no avail. I've decided to surrender - I'm not buying a new SSD and setting everything up proper just yet though. Gonna wipe everything, and re-do the entire guide from scratch, being even more meticulous this time. I was really careful on the last go-through to dot every i and cross every t - but I did forget to playtest after some of the more complex installs, which I will do this time. If I run into the same problem or get any new information I'll touch back here. -
Green Rectangle Cursor on Black Screen Startup error
baronaatista replied to baronaatista's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
not sure I understand it myself. I can start the game through the proper executables - so long as I have NOT started MO to run as administrator, and it runs fine, but does not seem to load any of my mods. if I run MO as administrator, it no longer launches the FNV Launcher first (indicating that it IS running mods - or at least attempting to) but I get that black screen, and my cursor becomes a green rectangle (well, color is debatable, I'm partially colorblind). as a side note, I have a full install of Skyrim STEP 2.2.9.2, installed in the same fashion, and it gives me the "try to start STEAM" message when I run my .exe's, just the same, but the game itself runs like a dream. *oh yeah, specifically, I have not touched my path settings for MO... earlier in troubleshooting, I did copy the entire MO folder to my desktop, deleted everything, reinstalled the game, moved the MO folder back into game folder, reinstalled the .exe's and so on - not sure if there are any extra steps there I should have taken to make MO work properly with the game? -
Dynamic Distant Objects LOD - pre 2.xx
baronaatista replied to sheson's question in DynDOLOD & xLODGen Support
I'm finishing up a STEP 2.2.9.2 install right now, with my own Gameplay pack alongside, just had everything finished, including DynDOLOD, got into the game and it looked and played great, but I noticed a problem or two with my setup (had downloaded and installed immersive horses, forgetting that I had installed convenient horses in STEP, for one - I also installed Phinix ENB, with his instructions and patch for COT/TS/ESS/AOS/NLA - meaning I re-installed COT without its DLC/weather patches - DynDOLOD.esp was dependent on one of the COT DLC patches) so I fixed that up, and then upon looking up how to update DynDOLOD after adding/removing mods, I noticed that on its page and the GP install video, there doesn't seem to be a mention of running the Texgen script, and in STEP, there does not seem to be mention of downloading billboards. am i correct in assuming that running the Texgen script essentially generates those billboards dynamically, and thus the vanilla skyrim LOD billboards, as well as SFO billboards are not necessary? also, as i didn't add or delete anything that would really require new LOD textures or billboards, i'm assuming that to update i only need to run the Worlds script to generate a new .esp, and don't need to worry about the TexGen? -
Green Rectangle Cursor on Black Screen Startup error
baronaatista replied to baronaatista's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
okay, so did everything you said, ran at various conditions - at this point, the game itself starts and even plays fine. if i open MO, i can start the game using the launcher, through the .exe, 4G Loader, or NVSE, and play it, fine... seemingly without any mods though, other than ENB. if i run MO as administrator though and use 4G, it gives me that black screen with green rectangle cursor - does display a steam community message in lower right, and ENB messages in top left. also, and i did forget to mention this before - any executable i start through MO gives me the "steam is required to be running" message, when steam is already running. -
Green Rectangle Cursor on Black Screen Startup error
baronaatista replied to baronaatista's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
verified game cache, found 7 missing files, re-aquired, launched MO as administrator and ran 4GLauncher - was able to access the menu, and get into the game, but none of my mods seem to be installed, and could look around but not move. currently making a copy of MO folder on my desktop, going to delete everything and reinstall. really appreciate the assistance. -

Green Rectangle Cursor on Black Screen Startup error
baronaatista posted a question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
first off i'd just like to say i'm a complete newb here, never posted on these forums, and while i've been using mods for a couple years, and have done a couple different STEP installs, i'm very much a layman with this whole thing - i can use TESVEdit only because of these guides and the amazing videos from Michael of GamerPoets. So please forgive my ignorance if i'm doing or saying anything stupid. just finished a new setup of F&LNV - have no other mods installed whatsoever, though i didn't include the entire guide. Specifically skipped weapons of the new millenia, all of the "new lands" and new quest mods, other than someguy series, also didn't include willow. there might be a couple others i skipped - certainly not anything dependent on anything else that was skipped. when i try to run the game through MO/4Glauncher, i get this black screen and my cursor is a fairly large green rectangle. nothing else happens. i can easily just alt tab out and close the program, no freezing my computer or anything. one time as i was messing around, I got an error message that said something about not being able to find steam_api.dll or something? i checked and its there... did a little research and it was suggested this is a STEAM error, due to me having the game installed on my C drive in the program files(x86) folder? i just don't have another SSD, and haven't had issues with that in the past, despite the constant warnings on these and other guides. it was suggested though that might be solved by running as administrator... ran MO as admin, same thing... then tried running just the 4Gig Launcher outside of MO, as administrator, and it pulls up the startup screen, but there is no text - i'm guessing because its not loading my mods, which are replacing the UI. pretty sure i also tried to set admin privileges to the entire FNV folder, to no avail. is this a STEAM issue? are there solutions that don't involve me purchasing a second SSD (not an issue cost wise, just a hassle), and completely uninstalling STEAM and all my games (not THAT huge an issue - i only play TES and Fallout, and atm only Morrowind, Skyrim, FNV and FO4.... oh and Pillars of Eternity) as well as my mod setups?
